Chapter Text
The original novel note explained how Ancient Magic was obtained
It merely mentioned it once every book
One book equall to one ancient power note about them
Parrot remember one note about his favorite ancient magic
##############################
A single paragraph
"Long before the rise of kingdoms, there existed magic older than civilization itself. It could not be inherited, nor taught. The method of obtaining it had long since faded into myth."
##############################
That was all
Most readers ignored it
Parrot didn't
Because hidden in the author's note afterword was a tiny bonus illustration
The feeling of peace that not everyone can achieve
An old shrine
A forgotten forest
A sentence that almost everyone overlooked
===============================
"Open your hands to the Zenith Sky;The Vertical Light leaves no secret unrevealed"
"When the Sun stands straight and weapons sleep,The Transparent Floor shall read the soul"
"The True Noon casts no shadow,Save for the heart that hides its steel."
===============================
(I know it's kinda buns but hey! I'm trying and im not a poet nor a Shakespeare ╥﹏╥)
At the time, fans argued for months about its meaning
Parrot had been one of them
Now...
That useless piece of trivia might save his life.
"..."
He slowly closed the dusty book.
"...I can't believe being obsessed with lore is actually useful."
Parrot look out of his window
It was morning of 21 June 712
It was a clear sky with no sign of clouds
There's a phenomenon that only happen once in a year
Parrot only has this one chance to obtain it
There was only one problem
He was the King
Kings...
Did not simply leave the palace
Especially not the Tyrant King who's infamous for rotting in the palace
Never step out of his castle unless necessary
Every hallway had guards
Every gate had knights
Every servant watched his movements
Escaping unnoticed sounded impossible.
"..."
"...Unless..."
A grin slowly appeared on his face
---------------------------------------------------------------
Thirty minutes later
The captain of the Royal Guard frowned.
"...His Majesty requested absolute privacy?"
The butler nodded respectfully.
"He wishes to study state documents."
"And he specifically ordered that no one disturb him."
The captain sighed.
"...Very well."
"If anyone approaches the King's study, turn them away."
The guards saluted.
"Yes, Captain!"
Inside the study...
There was no king
Only a carefully arranged mountain of paperwork behind the desk
The curtains had been pulled shut
From outside, it looked as though someone was still working
---------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile...
Several floors below...
Parrot was squeezing through an old maintenance tunnel with his wings folded as tightly as possible.
"...Whose brilliant idea was this tunnel?"
He bumped his head.
"Ow."
Another few steps
His wings caught on the stone wall.
"...Ow."
His brown coat got stuck between cobwebs
A spider landed on his shoulder.
"...Absolutely not."
He nearly yelped, brushing it away before remembering he was supposed to be sneaking.
"...Quiet."
"Kings do not lose battles against spiders."
Five minutes later...
He emerged behind a hedge outside the palace walls
Fresh air greeted him
He stared at the towering palace.
"..."
"...I actually escaped."
A pause.
"...Why does this feel like breaking out of prison?"
---------------------------------------------------------------
The capital city of Elarion bustled with life
They are preparing the festival for a once in a year miracle
Street vendors shouted over one another
Children laughed while chasing wooden hoops
Fresh bread filled the air with its warm aroma
Parrot had almost forgotten...
The original King rarely left the palace
Seeing the city through his own eyes felt strangely refreshing
He bought a meat bun from a small stall
The old woman smiled kindly.
"Traveling somewhere, young lady?"
Parrot blinked.
"...uh.. Yes?"
"Oh, forgive me."
She laughed.
"I couldn't see you you beneath that cloak."
Parrot instinctively pulled the hood lower.
"...That's probably for the best."
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"This body has a slender figure combine with a pretty face.. No wonder she misstook me for a woman.. "
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
He paid, thanked her, and quickly slipped away
He completely failed to notice that she was now staring after him.
"..."
"...where have i seen that familiar golden and cyan eyes?"
---------------------------------------------------------------
Beyond the city walls lay an ancient forest
After hours of walking he finnaly found it
Unlike ordinary woods...
This place was unnaturally quiet
No birds sang
No insects buzzed
Even the wind seemed hesitant to enter
Parrot stopped before a weathered stone arch covered in moss.
"...This is it."
According to the note that's it...
But.. The conditions were absurd
No wonder Ancient Magic had vanished from history.
"..."
He stepped beneath the arch
Nothing happened.
"..."
"...Please don't tell me I remembered wrong."
One step
Two
Three
The forest remained silent
Then...
A breeze brushed against his colorful wings
Gentle
Familiar
Then—
Unfamiliar magic answered him
Leaves began to swirl
Like it's saying him to keep going
Parrot didn't mind the company as he focus where to go
Ancient runes that are hidden moments ago slowly illuminated
It was covered in vines and moss
Slowly—
One after another started to glow faintly of gold to
Like stars awakening after a long night
Parrot's eyes widened.
"...It worked."
The path ahead, invisible only moments ago, slowly revealed itself with a small glowing gold guiding him
It had been there all along
Simply...
Waiting
Waiting for someone the light will recognized
Parrot calmly walked to the end of the path and waited
According to his astronomical charts, today was the Summer Solstice, the only day where the cosmic puzzle could be solved
The minutes ticked by in absolute silence
As Solar Noon approached, the angle of the sunlight shifting down the wall became perfectly vertical
At exactly 12:00 PM, a brilliant, solid pillar of light shot straight down through the forest, striking the exact center of where he stood
Instantly, all physical shadows vanished
The trees, the rocks, and Parrot himself looked strange and entirely illuminated from above
The moment the vertical light hit the ground, the normal dirt ground disappeared only leaving midnight-black obsidian
Then after a few seconds
Every trees and rock dissapear in his sight
Beneath his feet, the ground shifted from pitch black to completely clear, turning into a breathtaking transparent crystal window with a faint glow like star
Phase one went precisely according to his calculations
Parrot knew the ancient magic was highly sensitive to even the threat of violence
The next step of his plan required complete, unyielding pacifism
That's why parrot didn't bring anything on this journey other than the food he bought earlier
He already ensured nothing metallic remained on his clothes that could be perceived as a weapon
As he stepped out onto the transparent glass floor completely unarmed, the crystal remained perfectly clear
The magic recognized the absolute peace of the environment
The golden stars rippled invitingly beneath him
After a few steps, parrot saw giant pillar that is so high it almost seem endless
Now came the most difficult part of obtaining the ancient magic...
He walked to the center of the transparent floor, placing his arm directly into the vertical pillar of sunbeam
Even though the vertical sun had erased his normal shadow, a light, unnatural shape began to warp across the clear floor beneath him
It was a light, peaceful shaped like a cage—the physical manifestation of his soul
Parrot closses his eyes to let himself to stay calm
The vertical sunbeam flared with brilliant warmth
Parrot take a step back then open his eyes to see the unfamiliar surroundings
With all three conditions met exactly as planned, the transparent floor liquefied, opening up into a path
At the end of the glowing path stood a tiny shrine
No larger than a garden gazebo
Its white stone had long since cracked with age, yet no moss dared cover the glowing symbols carved across its surface
The air felt...
Different
Peaceful
Warm
Almost alive
At the center rested a single orb made entirely of gold light
It floated without support
As Parrot approached...
The orb dissolved into countless glowing particles
The entire shrine trembled
A voice echoed softly—not through his ears, but directly into his mind
"One who walks a different path..."
Parrot froze
The voice continued.
"You seek not power to conquer..."
The light grew brighter.
"You seek power to protect?"
His heart pounded.
"..."
"...Yes."
There was no point lying
The world itself seemed to be asking
He answered honestly.
"I don't want to become stronger than everyone."
"I just..."
His thoughts drifted to three children
A quiet Enderling
A cold Netherling
An energetic little Voidling whose smile was destined to disappear
"...I want everyone to reach a future where they're still smiling."
The shrine became completely silent
For several long moments...
Nothing happened
Parrot wondered if he'd failed
Then...
The orb reappeared
It floated toward him
Slowly
Gently
Until it touched the center of his chest
Light exploded across the surrounding
Warmth spread through every part of his body
Not hot
Not painful
It felt like sunlight after a long winter
The wind around him sang softly
Ancient runes climbed across his arms before fading beneath his skin
The voice spoke one final time
"Then bear this blessing."
"Ancient Magic—Verdant Sanctuary."
"May your hands become a refuge for those who suffer."
The light vanished
The shrine returned to silence
Parrot slowly looked down at his hands
Golden motes of light drifted around his fingertips before disappearing
He could feel it
A gentle power resting quietly within his soul
Unlike ordinary healing magic, this power felt... endless
Ancient
As though it had existed since the birth of the world
He smiled.
"...Got it."
At exactly 12:03 PM, the sun shifted past parrot
His surroundings change again to when he first came into the forest
The vertical alignment broke, and the clear light path instantly turned back into ordinary, solid dirt
---------------------------------------------------------------
At that exact moment...
Back at the palace...
The captain of the Royal guard came again and knocked on the King's study.
"Your Majesty?"
No answer
Another knock.
"...Your Majesty?"
Silence
The captain frowned.
"...Open the door."
The servants hesitated.
"But His Majesty ordered—"
"Now."
The doors swung open
The study was empty
Papers
Books
A half-finished cup of tea
But no king
The room fell deathly silent.
"..."
"..."
"..."
The captain slowly turned toward the guards.
"..."
"...Find the King."
Within minutes...
Alarm bells echoed across the entire palace
Knights rushed through corridors
Servants searched every room
Nobles whispered in horror.
"The King has vanished!"
Meanwhile...
Several kilometers away...
Parrot happily munched on the second meat bun he'd bought on the way home.
"..."
"...Best side quest ever."
Completely unaware...
Half the kingdom was searching for him (≧▽≦)
