Chapter Text
I’m lying in bed drawing out posters for my room. Yes drawing.. I don’t have a printer, okay! But then I get a text from Phil.
Phil🛸: I’m so bored- wanna call?
Teds🧸: Sure!
Phil🛸: Okay, good, ' cause I need you to give me all the answers for math
Ted’s:🧸: Wow, fuck you too.
And then I get a call from Phil, I answer it of COURSE! Why wouldn’t I?
“Whatcha doing?” Phil asks.
“Making posters for my room,” I say, very concentrated.
“Making?” Phil says, raising his eyebrows.
I sigh dramatically, “I don't have a colour printer”
“Oh. Anywayyy… did you see the Habs game last night?” Phil says while stretching
“Wouldn’t miss it,” I snort.
“How’d you know I liked them?” I ask.
“Oh, maybe cause your walls are filled with posters and such.”
“Oh, shush!” I look up at my camera.
“Can I see your poster?” Phil asks.
“Yeah, sure!” I lift my poster, and it reveals a half-coloured Heartstopper poster.
“Heartstopper?” Phil asks.
“It’s a queer show,” I say.
“We should watch it together!” I smile.
“Mm… maybe.”
I yawn and put my poster away.
I set my phone up on my nightstand and lay down.
We’re talking about hockey, school, and any new gossip that Lily has brought up earlier in the day. And I start to feel my eyes get heavy.
“Teddy, you still there?” Phil asks.
“Mm…” i groan.
I start to close my eyes a bit, and Phil’s still talking.
When I fall asleep, I hear Phil laugh a bit, and it makes me wish I could fall asleep to that every night.
———————————
I’m not totally sure when Phil fell asleep, but now I’ve awoken to a sleeping Phil and the surroundings of my room.
I yawn and say “Phil..?”
He starts to stir and says “... morning...”, his voice filled with sleep.
“Morning…” i say.
I’m realizing now neither of us is probably going to bring up the fact that we slept on call.
We talk while getting ready, and, of course, Phil had to comment on how long it takes to do my hair in the mornings. It’s not my fault I have curly hair!
“Ted’s, wanna walk to school together?” Phil asks.
“Sure,” I say, still half asleep.
———————
When Phil makes it to my house, I’m trying to grab my bag as quickly as I can.
It's quiet in my house. No goodbyes from my mother, and none from my father, since he's already at work. My brother Donald's probably already gone off to school, too.
I smile and walk towards Phil.
“Took you long enough.” Phil sighs dramatically.
“Oh sure, it’s not like you got here 10 seconds ago, right?” I fire back.
“I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: Ted’s words hurt.” He smiles.
“Oh, sure.” I laugh a bit.
“I’ll race you,” I say, even though I’m half asleep.
“Deal.” Phil starts running without warning.
“Hey, you're cheating!” I yell.
“You're just slow!” He yells back.
I finally catch up and grab his hand. We’re just standing there for a second, hand-in-hand. Then he starts walking, still holding my hand.
———
When we make it to school, I see Lily. I promised her we would hang out with the others today, without inviting Phil.
“Good morning,” I say
“Teddy, you look very tired; did you not sleep or something?” Ronnie asks.
“He stayed up until like 11pm,” Phil says.
“How do you know this?” Lily questions.
“He fell asleep on call,” Phil replies.
They each exchange a glance.
“Phil, before I forget…” Marge says.
“Ronnie and I were wondering if you could set us up with Rich and Will?” She asks, smiling.
“I’ll see what I can do.” He
Says.
Phil walks off from the group to see his friends, and I’m stuck with people questioning me.
“Sooo… did you two stay on call all night?” Marge asks.
“Maybe…” I say, looking anywhere but their faces.
“Teddy, please just kiss him already.” Said Ronnie.
“I think I would pass away on the spot,” I say.
