Chapter Text
“Caleb.” Jaden tapped his foot frustrated as he watched Kalal shutting down the XP farm. “It’s 10:30PM.” His arms were crossed.
Kalal set the shulker box down with a huff. “Can I get five more minutes? Please.” He begged with his bandaged hands clasped together. “I have more stuff to move!”
Jaden sighed, “No. I told you that you’re done at 10 30. We need to fix your sleep schedule.”
“It’s not that bad.” He said nervously, down playing the severity of how bad his habits really are.
…
“Bro! You literally stayed up for 3 weeks working yourself to death!” He growled before walking over to him with a serious look under his mask. “You’re going to bed.” He grabbed Kalal’s hood before he could even think of an escape route.
”I’m fine Jaden! I have stuff-“
”Bed.”
”Now.”
Jaden wasn’t in the mood for any excuses or attempts. He just wants Caleb to stop working so much and sleep.
..
”Finnnne…” Kalal grumbled while setting the last thing down for the night. He huffed and rubbed his eye from exhaustion he’s been ignoring.
With a deep breath Jaden wrapped his arm around Kalal’s shoulder as they began to walk out. “This can wait, We’re in no rush to leave and I’m not going anywhere.” He ruffled Caleb’s hair like an older brother would to his little one.
“I know but it’s just easier to get this all done now than later.” He leaned on Jaden a bit, he never could remember how many days he’d forget to sleep then collapse onto the stone floor.
Jaden smiled a bit, “Not when you’re barely conscious.”
As they made their way through the labyrinth of the facility, it amazed Jaden that Kalal could build so much in a month, although he could only imagine how many energy drinks, coffee and lack of sleep he’s gone through just to keep moving. So many different farms, some automated and some done by hand with the plan to be automated. Soon all the farms with be shut down since the plan was to move Caleb closer to people and not so far out and hidden. Maybe this place could be a hidden backup base with how secure and far out it is.
Jaden huffed. It’s only been a day since finding him, he stayed since he didn’t have a lot going on, especially after getting banned from Unstable Smp. The two did want to stay, but they had important things to do and Jaden insisted they do them and that he can handle Kalal.-
“!?”
Jaden stopped as Caleb stop moving and went limp……… ‘Bout time.’ He sighed and shifted to be in front of him before picking him up like you would a little kid who passed out in the car. Not the first time he’s had to carry the guy to bed. When they first found out how bad his sleeping habits get when left unchecked for too long was honestly concerning. Back in Levels SMP they let him loose on making farms and other redstone contraptions for the based. From a day they let him ended up to 3 weeks of no sleep and then having to get the stumbling rat to bed.
Reaching the latter and gave an irritated sighed. ‘Why couldn’t he have made an elevator…” he readjusted his grip on Kalal with a huff before switching to one arm to hold him to grab the latter.
“If you’re going on a redstone spree again make an elevator next time or something.” He mumbled while knowing Caleb was out like a light.
Climbing up the latter he huffed, Kalal’s weight did not help in one bit with how steep this was. A few time Caleb stirred and mumbled random things. It brought a chuckle out of him a couple times. A little rattie.
What felt like a long time, he made it up and pulled himself to the top floor and sat with his legs dangling into the hole back into the facility while Kalal was against him with his arms dangling off his shoulders, softly snoring. ‘God he’s out like a rock.’ Jaden honestly knew he was no better, Jumper threw a rock at him once when sleeping and only stirred…he did wake up with a headache though.
He sat there for a minute as he felt Caleb’s soft breathing as he slept….reminded him of home a bit. When his mom used to hold him like this when he fell asleep on her.
…
Jaden sighed and pulled his mask down, exposing the scars and the tear in his lip, smiling softly he took a moment to stand up with a huff. He felt Kalal stir again and he stopped, waiting for him to settle down again. After a minute he sighed in relief before walking over and laying him in bed. Bro seriously needed this sleep. That was the whole point of setting up bed time. Caleb needed a schedule to get into so he could know when to be done and get more energy that wasn’t caffeine or getting electrocuted.
He sat on the bed and grabbed Kalal’s hand before taking off the fingerless glove to reach the bandages. Jaden sighed taking off the bandage and seeing the familiar dark, burned, calloused hand. He ran his hand over it and huffed. ‘Dumbass.’ He pulled bandages from his inventory and began to rewrap his hand.
—
Jaden sighed once he finished wrapping both hands once again. Hopefully the burns will ease over the next week or so.
Moving away, he stood up and sat in the bed that Jumper made for him that wasn’t too far from Kalal’s. Slowly he took off his boots and placed his infamous pirate hat on the nightstand. Looking back over to Caleb, he smiled softly.
Even if he didn’t treat himself like it, TeamKalal was still human and that’s something he should learn to realize.
