Chapter Text
It was just an ordinary day for Rin. The cold November breeze coming from the window waking her up, the sunrise painting her room orange, the family chatter from downstairs, everything looked normal. She got up, put her uniform on, and went to have breakfast before school.
Downstairs, the family was lively as always. Meiko was serving breakfast, Kaito was having a conversation with someone on the phone, and Len wasn’t there, which is fine, since he oversleeps quite a lot, so it’s probably nothing. But there was someone else. At the dining table sat Miku. Miku was Rin’s aunt, 19 years old, lives in a big city due to her fame, has a loving girlfriend and lots of friends, and many more positive things about her. According to her, she came back to her hometown to take a break from fame and focus on college and spending more time with loved ones.
“Good morning, Rin! Is Len oversleeping again?” Meiko asked.
“I don’t know, though he probably is.” Rin replied, taking a bite of her breakfast.
“Hi Rin! Haven’t seen you in ages!” said Miku, realizing a conversation is forming around her. Then, Kaito joined in, and they chatted for like 10 minutes. After breakfast, Rin went to grab her bag and wake Len up, since he still hasn’t woken up.
She grabbed her bag, threw her textbooks in, took a few mirror selfies for her social media, and went to wake Len up.
She skipped down the hallway, approaching Len's room. She walked up to the door, knocked once, no reply, knocked twice, then three times, but still, no reply came. Her tsundere ass has decided that enough is enough, and that she will just gently open the door (ddlc ref).
"wake up Len. You should have gotten up 30 minutes ag-" She said, cutting her sentence off as she realised that the room was empty. His bag was still next to his desk, his uniform was in his closet, he was clearly not at school. His window was open, and there was a note on his pillow: "Gomenne".
Rin looked confused as fuck.
Rin picked up her bag, and went to school. Except she didn't. Once she was a safe distance from home, she started calling all of Len's contacts. His phone, his laptop, his old flip phone from when he was 13, everything. One picked up. It was his phone. As Rin was about to calm down, thinking she had found him, a different voice spoke.
"Hello? Is this Len?" Rin said into the phone.
"Eh, no. I just found thisphone in the mall, completely abanonded. Sorry! ._." The voice replied.
then from the phone, Rin heard something different. She heard some men sream "PUT YOUR HANDS UP IN THE AIR, MA'AM!", and the voice saying "oh shit", then running. It sounds like she's in a chase.
"Hey, random person, what the actual fuck is happening?" Rin asked.
"Oh yeah, nothin'... Hey, so you mentioned this "Len" guy, right? If I told you where he is, would you do a favour for me?" The voice sounded uncertain at the 1st sentence, but sounding sweet, almost manipulative at the last one.
"Fine. What do you need?"
"go to the mall. Back exit. With your car if you have one."
"I don't have a car, but is a motorcycle good?"
"bet."
She was confused, but felt determined to find Len. Whatever caused him to run away from home, she knew he'd tell her, so this was out of the ordinary. She went back to get her motorcycle from the garage, and drove to the mall's back exit.
The mall was a mess. Alarms were blaring, people were confused, some were scared, some were crying, whatever was happening was bad. Then, like 5 minutes later, someone burst through the back door. She had long black hair, a sleeveless crop top, a red and blue jacket, and a red baseball hat. The moment she saw Rin, she hopped on the motorcycle, and told Rin to drive away fast.
she didn't hesitate, just drove. After like 5 minutes of driving on a small road which the police didn't know they were on, she finally asked:
"What on earth was happening. I won't snitch."
"Okay, soooo.... I killed someone, hehe..."
"PARDON?????" She said confused as fuck.
"I CAN EXPLAIN, I SWEAR!" She said, knowing damn well she couldn't.
"Uhhhhhh.... So where's my brother."
"Oh! Well, go in the city, town square, go to the roundabout, exit 3, go onwards, and take a left onto smith street, and house 46. Do not question how I know so well. Also, I'm Yi-Xi, nice to meet you!"
"Yknow what, at this point, I won't even question it. You're already concerning enough. I'm Kagamine Rin."
Rin dropped Yi-Xi off at a nearby house, and went to the house she mentioned. She knocked. No reply. Knocked again. Yet again, no one. As the nosy tsundere she is, she went to look through one of the windows. Yi-Xi wasn't lying. Len was in there with someone else. She had green hair.
After the whole day has passed, she returned home. By the time she got home, the street was covered in offical police newspaper of a missing person: Len. Rin has no clue why he did what he did, and how she can convince him to return, or at least tell her what's wrong.
