Chapter Text
Running down the stairs at full force sounded like a great idea at first, but in practice it was slippery and that, mixed with Bryan's clumsy nature did not bode well.. He fell into Leon, and they tumbled down the last few steps.
Bryan hissed as his chin hit the top of Leon's head, he was laying completely over him chest to back and the cop grunted, probably having landed in his already bleeding nose.
"Fuck I'm SO sorry man, I’m clumsy as shit." He helped pull Leon up by the shoulders, and they walked towards the door together. "Don't worry about it, let's just get out of here." He grabbed Bryan's shoes, bag, and something else before heading out.
Leon guided them towards a car parked under a half-loft, making sure to be the last one in.
"Wait look, the gates locked." The alpha let out an annoyed 'argh!' before stepping out again and pulling out his gun. He shot the lock twice with no result before kicking it once. The gates opened up with a groan loud enough to be heard inside the car.
"Alright, let's fucking get out of here." He said, slamming the door and flooring it on the accelerator. Bryan watched the still-open door and started when the lights turned off and arms emerged from the blackness, soon followed by legs as well. "I second that!"
The car sputtered to a start, and soon they were past the gates and well on their way, hopefully to someplace far away from any of this bullshit.
He looked over to observe Leon as he drove, one arm on the wheel while the other lay twitching between them. Bryan placed his hand in it and watched in glee as his touch was reciprocated.
They didn't speak Leon was too focused on the road, and Bryan too focused on observing their joined hands. The blond's hand was warm (which really shouldn't have surprised Bryan) and he watched as Leon's thumb brushed softly against his knuckles, it made his face feel warm, and a happy feeling surged through him. His omega decided to let out some happy scents, and even though they didn't really smell like his it still made him tired.
Leon watched with one eye on the road as Bryan fell asleep beside him. Scenting the air and holding the omega's hand had worked to calm him down, but there was still some lingering anger pooling somewhere inside him.
He tried to calm it down, not wanting to scare Bryan with his sometimes overwhelmingly bitter moods, he was meant to protect him, not scare him away.
Looking down towards the omega's soft stomach made him gulp. Bryan didn't have the usually milky scent that came with pregnancy, but the way he had held a hand to his stomach and panicked was confirmation enough for the cop.
"I'll get you out, both of you. I promise." He clenched the wheel a little harder, a new goal slotting itself into his mind front and center.
_______________
Leon frowned at the tunnel ahead of them, it had only been about an hour since they started driving, and the Omega had neither woken up nor let go of his hand.
Sadly, there was no other way to the other side than through there and by all the cars littered at the entrance, it did not look like Leon could keep driving.
"Bryan hey, we gotta go." He shook the other softly, not really wanting to wake him up. The brunette opened his eyes slowly, looking over at him through thick lashes and soft hazel eyes that made Leon's brain stutter.
"Oh." The omega's voice was drowned in sadness, he must have been dreaming about something nice, Leon thought.
"I can't drive the car through here, we have to walk." He pointed towards the tunnel, which made Bryan look over and shudder.
"That looks like the start of a really shitty 50s horror movie." Leon scoffed. He was right on the money there, the light cascading from the moon did well to light the road ahead of them but did absolutely nothing for the shadows flowing out of the tunnel.
Bryan put on his shoes and stepped out of the car, jumping a few times to pump himself up. Leon checked his remaining bullets and joined the now fully awake omega in front of the tunnel.
"Genuinely say sike right now." He gulped, sliding his phone from a pocket somewhere and turning on the light, it did absolutely nothing from their distance. Leon flicked on his flashlight and took the liberty of walking in first. "Stay close to me, i don't know what's in here."
"Don't gotta tell me twice.."
They walked in tense silence, keeping a very close eye on every movement around them. Which was none. There was nothing but tension around them for minutes, which didn't deter Leon from having a hand firmly holding his gun just in case.
Bryan took note of a lit-up car with an empty baby chair, a little teddy placed inside; it made something in his stomach churn.
"Something up ahead, it looks like a van or something." Bryan lifted his head to peer over the alpha's shoulder; there, blocking their path, stood a big van the size of a truck, with windows littering the sides along with a closed door.
"Fuck man, can we go around this thing?" Bryan asked, voice shaking at the prospect of having to go through it. "Doesn't look like it no. We'll have to go find another way."
They both stared at the door and then to each other. "Don't make me, I’m begging." Leon gave an apologetic half-smile before making his way towards the door of doom and despair.
Bryan screamed when it opened with a loud beep, jumping into Leon's shoulder and holding on tight. 'Fuck that was so embarrassingly bottom coded' He thought, un-digging his claws from the alpha's arm and coughing awkwardly.
"Uhm… ladies first..?"
"Gee, thanks."
The van looked homely; children's drawings littered the walls, and toys lay scattered about. Bryan let out a whimper while looking at one particular drawing of a little girl holding hands with a figure named Mom.
He thought of Michelle, what she wanted from him, what he didn't think he wanted to give her.
He'd always been scared of kids, never thought he'd ever be asked to have some himself. Never thought he would be able to actually have them either, Male omega's usually have a hard time getting pregnant. Some couples went through years of fertility care just to get a chance.
But Bryan's parents hadn't needed to, Grace once said that all he needed to do was look at Simon and he'd be 3 months along. It had cringed Bryan and Nikki out so much they both pretended to throw up, now though, he's older, a little bit more mature, though not by much… And being asked to endure 9 months of back pain and swelling feet.
It wasn't even the idea of it all that bothered him, it was the scent that still clung to him in certain areas. Honey, sickeningly sweet and overwhelmingly sticky. If it made him want to gag now, what would it do when hes pregnant and already overly sensitive?
He startled out of his thoughts at a noise, Leon had stepped on a squeaky toy lying on the ground. Lifting his foot slowly while keeping completely silent and on high alert just in case, they both sighed when nothing happened, only to both startle as a small bang came from the other side of the family van.
Bryan pulled out his gun and slowly made his way towards the noise, Leon right behind him. He pulled the sliding door to the side and revealed… A little girl.
She looked to be no older than 7 and absolutely terrified, sat on top of a toilet lid. Her body clung to the wall and she kept her head hidden under an arm. She was wearing pajamas for Christ's sake.
Bryan quickly put his gun away, crouching a little closer to her level. "Hey there, honey." He stuttered a little, making an effort to soften his voice.
"Hey, I'm- I'm not gonna hurt you, hey." She shook violently; he could hear her sniffling as well. "you- you okay?" Bryan tried to lightly touch her arm, but she startled.
"Hey, baby" He whispered quietly now crouched completely to her level.
He rubbed her arm comfortingly, letting out his most calming pheromones. "Hey sweetie, it's okay! hey its alright." She finally looked up, revealing her big black eyes and chubby cheeks; Bryan could feel himself melting at the sight. She still smelled of pup, something milky and clean.
"Hey, there you are." He gently tucked away some hair from her face, noting her cold skin and desperate to do something about it, asked Leon to go find a blanket.
"Help me." She whimpered, her body still shaking. Bryan looked down towards her feet and startled away slightly, they were curling around the toilet, pulsating slightly. "Please, I'm scared.." Her voice clung to his heart, tears pooled in her eyes and she looked so scared.
"It's okay, you're gonna be okay." Leon was distracted looking in a closet for clothes, probably for him and the girl. Bryan took a deep breath to try and think clearly. "My mom bit me on the foot, and I hid in here but I…I don't know where she went."
He looked down at her feet again, gulping at the mutated flesh. "Yeah, we're gonna find her. Don't worry." A tear fell down her soft cheek and another followed not long after. "My foot hurts." Bryan's heart broke into millions of small little pieces. "oh really? well we... we're gonna get you out of here, it’s okay"
She reached for him. "Danm" he gulped. "Okay, here I go…upsie daisy."
The tentacles on her feet lunged at him, they threw him back a ways before latching onto his foot and trying to drag him towards her. The little girl screamed and cried trying to say something but he couldn't make out what in his state of panic.
"HELP ME!" She screamed desperately, tears falling from her eyes in twin waterfalls. Her face split into 6 pieces, making her face look like a fucked up blood flower. One mouth and eye in the middle of it.
She lunged at him, now trying to bite his arm, he screamed so loud it made his throat burn.
There was nothing he could do but wait for the bite to connect, listening to something that might have been his name if he'd been paying attention.
