Chapter Text
Shinyu Meat Pie Guy
> Sorry, I can’t come today.
> I’m being held up.
> I’ll pay for it tomorrow, but do whatever you want with the pie.
It would be a lie to say Dohoon wasn’t disappointed with that text. He was looking forward to seeing Shinyu again. But nothing he could do except pack up and leave.
Business has been well today. There were 5 people that came, all said they got the recommendation from Shinyu. My wish came true after all, Dohoon quietly thought to himself.
He carefully bagged each leftover bread and pastry and closed the shop. He had less bread to give today, but at least it meant his shop wouldn’t be dead if this keeps up.
“Won’t you stay this time?” The older nun smiled as she collected the bag from Dohoon's hands. “The kids miss you already. They keep asking where uncle Kim went.”
“Ah, I’m sorry but I really, really have to go right now. I’ll come again a different day.”
“Alright, don’t hesitate to come anytime.”
Dohoon waved at the lady before heading off. He was feeling quite disappointed because Junghwan wasn’t able to come. But dropping off the bread always made his heart feel calmer.
As he walked closer to his home, he suddenly felt chills. The entire area was dark, dimly lit, and eerily quiet. Dohoon was used to it, but today felt different. He quickly picked up his pace, slightly jogging to reach his home faster.
He wasn’t sure what made him scared. There was nothing as far as he could see, but his body felt like something was wrong. But his heart pounded against his ribcage and he kept seeing dark shadows just by the corner of his vision.
It wasn’t until he took out his keys and unlocked his door that he felt slightly relieved. But that didn’t last long when someone quickly pushed him inside and locked the door behind him. Dohoon was about to scream when a cold hand flew to cover his mouth and shushed him.
He was considering biting the stranger’s hand when he suddenly heard loud banging from outside his door. It was frantic and desperate, and Dohoon’s entire body tensed up at the sudden noise. The person clamped tighter on Dohoon’s mouth, and Dohoon gave up resisting. He was way more terrified of whatever was outside, screaming and slamming against the door than the stranger who’s keeping him quiet right now.
It took a while before the banging subsided, and the stranger’s grip loosened. Dohoon exhaled a long breath before turning around, only to find a familiar person standing behind him.
“S-Shinyu!? What are you doing in my house? What the hell was that!?”
“Calm down, keep your voice down—” Shinyu quickly clamped over Dohoon’s mouth again.
Dohoon’s eyes widened in shock at the freezing touch once again, but he couldn’t care less anymore. Junghwan gave a slow questioning nod before Dohoon nodded as well and Junghwan released his hands from Dohoon’s face.
“So…?” Dohoon continued in a much more whispered voice.
“That… was a vampire,” Shinyu sighed.
“A vampire?” Dohoon laughed hearing those words. “Seriously, that’s hilarious, hahaha!” Dohoon suddenly caught the seriousness in Shinyu’s eyes and abruptly stopped laughing. “Wait, you’re serious?”
“Of course. What were you thinking going home this late?” Shinyu asked with genuine concern.
Dohoon furrowed his brows. “I always go home around this time.”
“Well, be more careful. There’s too much vampire activity surging lately.”
Dohoon suddenly realized something as Shinyu continued explaining. His pale skin, the cold touch, and now his clearly glowing eyes.
“Wait, you’re—”
“Ssssh!” Shinyu clamped over Dohoon’s face once again with panic written all over his face. “Yes, I am.”
“Shoyuregonnadinkmybloodh?”
“Huh?” Shinyu finally released his hands again.
“So you’re gonna drink my blood?” Dohoon repeated his question. He wasn’t scared for some reason. Maybe because he had known Shinyu for so long (only 3 days) that he didn’t really care about the fact that the man standing in front of him, in his house, is a vampire.
“Wh-huh? No? Why would I? What kind of question is that” Shinyu asked, flabbergasted.
“Isn’t that what vampires do?”
“I drink bagged blood now, not directly from people,” Shinyu sighed. “It’s a hassle to take care of dead bodies, especially in this era.”
Dohoon nodded, a bit surprised by Shinyu’s statement. “Then why the hell was there news about vampire attacks?”
“Attack. It’s only one singular guy that recently got turned and decided to start feeding on everything he set his sights on.” Shinyu rubbed the bridge of his nose in frustration just thinking about the guy. “So just don’t go out too late.”
Dohoon couldn’t help but giggle hearing that from Junghwan. “So, you didn’t come today because you were trying to catch the guy?”
“...Yes,” Shinyu answered with a bit of reluctance as he turned his head away to avoid facing Dohoon, “sorry.”
“It’s alright,” Dohoon laughed watching Shinyu become a mess. The tips of Shinyu’s ear slowly turned red, and his cheek was noticeably rosier. He looked far more human now that he didn’t look so pale.
Shinyu blinked. “You’re not scared of me…?”
“Well you just saved me. Besides, did you kill me when you first met me?”
“No?”
“Then why would I be scared? You bought my pie,” Dohoon answered with the same smile. “But why did you come that day? I didn’t think vampires would need human food to survive.”
Shinyu sighed before he walked past Dohoon to a long comfy couch and sat there. Dohoon followed and quietly sat next to him as well.
“Because. I smelled your blood that day.”
Dohoon’s mind was brought back to when Shinyu first came. He remembered how his hand was still bandaged after accidentally cutting himself. And it turned out that Shinyu came because he smelled his blood. “So, you were trying to kill me…?”
“No! No…” Shinyu frantically shook his head. “I have been holding myself back, but I still slip up sometimes, especially during red moons,” Shinyu quickly tried to explain before it sounded worse. “Your blood just… smelled nice… And then I felt bad if I didn’t buy anything and I smelled something savory—”
“Wait,” Dohoon interjected. “You came to a bakery, saw all that bread, and decided you wanted meat pie that wasn’t even on the display?”
“The pie smelled nice,” Shinyu sighed in shame, “and it tasted amazing. I was actually craving it again the next day.”
Dohoon tried his best to suppress his laughter, but alas, he couldn’t help but laugh out loud hearing that statement. Who would have thought, a vampire would somehow crave the random dinner he made on a whim. “Was it even that good?”
“It is.”
The seriousness of Shinyu’s tone made Dohoon’s heart skip a beat. He had plenty of compliments since he was younger about his baking, sure. But to hear that from an undead creature that looks extremely handsome? That’s a first.
“Thank you… I mean it. Especially since you helped me out a lot with recommending my bakery to your friends.”
“...”
Shinyu chuckled hearing those words.
“It’s my pleasure.”
5 months later
The soft bell of the door chimed as the street lights slowly turned on. Dohoon turned his head while wiping the counter and smiled once he saw who came in.
“Welcome~ What can I get you?” Dohoon leaned by the counter, his hand resting on top of it.
“I’d like my usual meat pie please.”
Shinyu stepped forward and gave a peck on Dohoon’s soft lips. Dohoon giggled softly.
“How’s today?” Dohoon asked as he took off his flour filled apron. He carefully went around the counter and looped his hands around Shinyu’s neck.
“Alright. Had to change 10 times today,” Shinyu chuckled as his hands circled around Dohoon’s waist. “What about you? Lots of customers?”
“Yep. Oh! The new staff are also really fast at learning.”
Dohoon stood on tip toes as he pressed his lips onto Shinyu’s, pushing the older and having him support both their weights.
“Alright, close up the store. I’ll wait for you, mmh?” Shinyu slowly let go of both of them and headed out the door.
“Okay~”
