Chapter Text

Morning.

Michael sat up, rubbing his eyes. His eyes scanned the room, searching for the blond haired man.

David had left apparently, Michael didn't know when.

The clock read 8:24 a.m, it was still fairly early.

He probably should be worried on where David had gone but again he was a vampire. Maybe he was at the ironworks hiding from the sun, he had to be.

The ironworks.

Michael remembered now.

What had occurred the previous night.

He didn't know how David was feeling but from what he gathered last night, he definitely wasn't well.

Loud footsteps approached the door, Sam's voice carried through the wood. "Mike? You awake?"

"Yeah. What do you want?" He asked, annoyed.

"Breakfast."

"I'll be down in a minute!"

Michael stood up, quickly changing, his mind still stuck on David. I mean we killed his brothers... and his father figure of sorts...

Halfway down the stairs Michael decided that he'd go to the factory today. Just to check on David, if David was there of course.

Lucy smiled at him as he entered the room, dishing out eggs on a plate. "Hey sweetie, have a nice sleep?"

Michael gave her a tight smile, still upset over what happened the night before. "Yeah." He said simply.

Why was everyone acting like nothing had happened?

His friends were dead.

Gone.

Sam felt justified by killing them. They were monsters he said. Killers he said.

Michael sat and ate his breakfast silently, finishing and going back upstairs.

Grabbing his jacket and keys, Michael set out to go to the ironworks. He hoped David was there, or at least somewhere familiar.

-

The factory was dark.

Michael looked around for a light, finding a lamp on the coffee table by the couch.

Flicking the switch, the room was bathed in warm light. Michael looked around, at everything that was left behind. He frowned, shaking his head.

He had to find David.

Who knows how he was feeling.

Speaking of David...

The aforementioned was laying on the couch, asleep. He looked terrible, more than he did before.

Tear tracks stained his face, face twisted in discomfort while he slept.

Michael joined him on the couch, grabbing his hand and rubbing his fingers gently.

David moved, getting closer to Michael's warmth, a sad sound leaving his mouth.

"Hey love, it's just me." Michael said softly. Pulling David into his embrace, he guided his head onto his shoulder. "I've got you, don't worry." Michael squeezed him gently, placing a kiss to David's hair. David whimpered quietly, a sound he would never admit he could make.

He was a mess, hair messed up, clothes disheveled, tears on his face, skin paler than normal.

"I'm sorry, so sorry. I know that doesn't help and you probably can't hear me but I'm just saying it because... I don't know. Because I can and I want you to feel better." Michael said to David's sleeping form.

David muttered something, shoving his face further into Michael's neck, taking a deep breath. "...Michael? What are you doing here?"

"Came to see if you were okay, obviously. You weren't there when I woke up so I came looking for you."

David yawned. "What time 's it?"

"Uh when I got up it was... 8:24? 8:25 maybe?" Michael said. "a.m for clarification. It's morning."

David yawned again, leaning further into Michael. "Too early to do shit... lemme sleep."

"Not a morning person huh?"

"Mmm... never said I was one." David mumbled. "You never saw me in the morning..."

Michael chuckled. "Shoulda asked the guys more about you."

David went quiet. "Ha ha... yeah..."

Michael winced, running his hand through David's hair. "Sorry, my mistake." He placed another kiss to David's hair. "How are you feeling anyway?" David shrugged.

"Fine."

Michael clicked his tongue. "No. No you are most definitely not fine."

"You don't know that I'm not fine."

"Well I know enough to say that I am right." He tapped his temple. "Context clues."

"Don't use your literary devices on me young man."

Michael laughed. "Young man? Were the same age!"

"No I'm older. Vampire, remember?" Michael nodded.

"I'm still sorry though." He said solemnly.

"I'll be fine. A lifetime of eternal loneliness isn't so bad." He chuckled weakly.

"You're not alone though. I'm here."

"And what happens when you die huh? When you move on and leave me behind?"

"Turn me."

"Wha-what?"

"Turn me. Into a vampire. Again."

"But you wanted to be human again."

"That was then, this is now." Michael said, shrugging. "I didn't really have a choice then. I have a choice now. And I'm choosing this."

"..."

"Please?"

"Aren't you worried about your family?"

"I am."

"Then why do you want to be like me?"

"You're my family too, David."

"Oh."

"Seem more surprised why don't you?" Michael joked. "Of course you're my family too."

David pulled back to look at Michael. "Are you absolutely, 100% sure that you want to be a vampire?"

"Yes."

"Okay."

"Sooo is it gonna go like it did before? With me drinking mysterious blood wine?"

"That or just drink from me." David said. "You're not doing this just because you don't want me to be alone?"

"Well that's another reason but I realized that you were right, that I can be free if I choose this."

"Okay. We'll do it later. At sundown. So I can be outside."

David fell back asleep after that, happier than he had been since the day before.

He wouldn't be alone.
