Chapter Text
Iwaizumi Hajime was extremely tired, and it was - for once - not because of himself or his roommate (who got into more fights than Iwaizumi wanted to handle) (especially since almost none of them were at all necessary and either with or (mostly) about his boyfriend). No, this time, it was worse.
The person who was tiring him out was none other than Oikawa Tooru, the star volleyball player of the university, and also (coincidentally) the extremely p(r)etty best friend of his roommate's boyfriend. Oikawa didn't seem to have any understanding of the wonderful concept of boundaries, and if he did, he flat-out ignored it. That resulted in him being in Iwaizumi's dorm more often than he'd like.
Because he always tagged along with Yahaba (who is the earlier mentioned boyfriend of Iwaizumi's roommate Kyoutani) and they were grossly and unexpectedly domestic and cute when together, Oikawa "to not have to be a third wheel, that'd be awful Iwa-chan!" always latched onto Iwaizumi. Oh, no. Right. Iwa-chan. Apparently.
Iwaizumi had more than once (probably also more than ten, fifty times) contemplated strangling Oikawa, but decided against it every time. He always regretted not doing it, but only afterwards, because luckily for him he managed to remember the herd that was Oikawa's fanclub that would definitely stampede all over him if he were to kill Oikawa.
That wasn't even the reason Iwaizumi was tired. Because yes, Oikawa was (seemed) probably pretty cool as best setter of his league and resident pretty boy/ladies man, but Iwaizumi knew better. The guy believed in aliens, was obsessed with astronomy and watched cryptid theory videos in his free time. He had also spilled that he was the youngest kid at home (with two older brothers and an older sister) and was always made fun of.
He was also a very ugly crier (thanks, Yahaba) and a weird sleeper (drool and massive bedhead included) (again, thanks Yahaba). He was perpetually unable to handle babies and only pretended to be the cheery, happy-go-lucky person he wanted everyone to think he was. Oh, and he never. Stopped. Stealing. Iwaizumi's clothes. Or hogging his bed. (Not-so-thanks to Yahaba on that one).
Iwaizumi at first hadn't wanted to call them friends, per say, but over the months Kyoutani and Yahaba had been together, they'd grown awfully comfortable with each other. So comfortable it became pretty hard to deny them being friends any longer. Iwaizumi still wasn't sure if he liked it or not, because damn, Oikawa was distracting.
Probably not, actually. No matter how nice it was to know Oikawa was comfortable enough around him to show his true self, it was still annoying. Also, as he had mentioned earlier, Iwaizumi's shirts and sweats kept disappearing. Now his track teammates had also caught wind of it (gotten track of it, ha) and would not stop pestering him about his so-called "boyfriend" (the boyfriend being Oikawa).
Iwaizumi didn't remember ever getting a boyfriend, especially not Oikawa, but sure.
To be honest, it was okay in the beginning, but then Oikawa (the idiot) went too far and injured his knee and Iwaizumi had to swoop in and save the day, of course. That's when the rumors spread out to the rest of the school. They had, because of the incident, gotten even closer and now even his classmates and friends (god, especially them) would tease him about it and ask regularly if they were actually together or not.
It became the talk of every single student in their grade. People had even started betting pools, Iwaizumi's "friends" being the ones to manage it. Go figure.
(All this was a problem because after all their stupid nagging, Iwaizumi had once thought about it longer than the three seconds he usually gave himself and realized Oikawa kind of did look very good in his clothes. Oops.)
Iwaizumi walked inside his dorm, fully ready to drop down on his bed and go to sleep instantly. Possibly (preferably) to never wake up again. He wouldn't mind that. Would save him the embarrassment of someone (anyone) finding out. No one could, because then they'd be proven right and have so much blackmail material on him and Iwaizumi didn't want that. Oikawa would never let him live in peace anymore, he'd probably hold it against Iwaizumi for ever.
Ahum. He was sidetracking.
As he said, he was fully ready to drop down (dead) on his bed and forget all about his woes. (Oikawa was rubbing off on him, shit. He wasn't usually the dramatic type). But ah, yes, speaking of Oikawa.
As Iwaizumi closed the door behind him, Oikawa looked up from his phone from his place on Iwaizumi's bed. Wearing Iwaizumi's shirt and sweatpants. The pair he'd been unable to find anywhere for a week. Again.
Oikawa beamed. "Hi Iwa-chan! I was dismissed early, so I thought it'd be nice of me to gift you with a visit."
Iwaizumi was not so amused. "Is that my shirt?" he growled out. Well, tried to, at least. The only person who was actually physically able of growling was not present.
Oikawa squeaked. "Um- fancy meeting you here, Iwa-chan. What horrible weather today, isn't it? Must've ruined your mood as well, ha. Do you want me to comfort you?"
"You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into, do you?" Iwaizumi asked darkly, his mind quickly flashing to the double meaning behind it. (1)Iwaizumi really, really wanted to beat him up right now, but (2) it was Oikawa's own damn fault Iwaizumi had fallen in like with him and the rumors even existed. Nothing on Iwaizumi there.
"Oh, I- Um, sorry?" Oikawa said. "I promise it's just this once!"
Iwaizumi scoffed. "Yes, that'd be nice." Oikawa visibly relaxed, but Iwaizumi wasn't done yet. "If only it was just one time, hm? Do you think you could please go one- just one- day without pissing me off?"
Oikawa frowned. "It pisses you off? Well, that's not at all what I was going for."
Now Iwaizumi was frowning as well. Not what he was- what the hell? "What did you think you could obtain by stealing all my clothes and non-stop hogging my bed? Honestly, it's like you're just asking to be put on my hate list."
"I'm on your hate list?" was all Oikawa seemed to have gotten out of that. He looked distinctly (strangely) sad and disappointed, now.
"Not really," Iwaizumi admitted mumbling, "but you do know that's what started all the rumors, right?"
"What rumors?" Oikawa asked stupidly.
What rumors? Did he seriously not know? After a minute of dumbly staring at him, Iwaizumi answered. "The rumors about us dating, or you trying to seduce me? I- did you seriously not hear about any of this? There are betting pools, our entire year is involved!"
Oikawa sat up a little straighter and looked at the ground. "Do you... dislike it?"
Iwaizumi's frown returned full force. "Do I- Well, I- not specifically, but my friends, classmates, teammates... Y'know, basically everyone has been bugging me about it."
"I-- oh," Oikawa said, still not really looking at Iwaizumi. "Um.. what would you say if I told you I was trying to seduce you?"
Short to say, Iwaizumi was speechless. Baffled. At least, for a little while. Oikawa, trying to seduce him? But wouldn't that imply Oikawa also liked him, or at least wanted Iwaizumi to like him? Back?
"I'd say it's a shitty way of seducing someone, even though it worked, and that Hanamaki and Matsukawa, and probably Yahaba and Kyoutanis as well, will have a field day when they find out. If they find out," Iwaizumi then blurted out. Fuck, he hadn't meant to mention the part about it working.
"It's no shitty," Oikawa said, sounding extremely offended, but Iwaizumi saw he was trying to hide a big grin. Did Oikawa like him back? (No, no, that sounded so... Like Iwaizumi was one of Oikawa's pining fangirls, waiting for her Oikawa-sama to notice her. He was not. Not even in the slightest. Oikawa noticed him a bit too much, and he wouldn't even think about calling Oikawa -sama or even -san or -kun.) (He wouldn't further mention the pining part.)
"Also," Oikawa added, looking disgustingly smug (cute), "how can it be so shitty if it worked?"
Iwaizumi rolled his eyes. "Is this one of those times where you want me to lie to protect your delicate emotions?"
"Yes!" Oikawa nodded. Then "Wait, no! Ugh, Iwa-chan, just tell me if you like me or not!"
To Iwaizumi's great annoyance, he felt a blush rise on his neck, and his ears felt hot. Desperate to not let Oikawa feel the satisfaction that would definitely come with the knowledge that he made Iwaizumi blush, he stepped forward and planted his lips on Oikawa's. Oikawa completely froze up, but when Iwaizumi pulled back to check if it was okay and probably apologize and watch Oikawa leave, he saw he was instead beet red. Oikawa's face was stuck in a giddy look.
Iwaizumi huffed out a chuckle. "You're an asshole, you know that, right?"
That seemed to snap Oikawa out of it, but the giddy smile stayed. "But you loooove me, right?" he sing-songed, dragging out the 'o' in 'love'. "You looove me, so you'll forgive me."
Iwaizumi smiled and knocked their foreheads together. Gently, of course. "Yeah," he admitted.
(He tried not to feel too satisfied at Oikawa's raging blush and stuttering.) (He very, very obviously failed.)
