Chapter Text
“Denki…...Denki…...HEY! WAKE UP!” A sharp pain in his other arm made him jolt and sit up. “You’re awake!” A boy with blood red hair and a fang sticking out of his mouth was in front of him. He then grabbed his arm and noticed his wound was patched up. He suddenly remembered the brawl and looked for Eijiro. The boy smiled and licked him. One look into his eyes and he knew this was his dragon.
“But…..But how?” Denki asked. Eijiro smiled.
“I’m a special dragon!” He boasted. “When my species finds something or someone they want to protect, they gain the ability to turn human to help protect it.” He nuzzled Denki.
“I had you with me for over 5 years. Why now?” Denki asked.
“To be honest….I was unsure if you took me in over guilt or if you really loved me. Seeing you defend me, I got my answer.” He smiled. “I want to protect you.”
“Eijiro...” Denki happily hugged him back. “Wait, if you turn human to protect what’s important, then what about your mother? She was a dragon when I found you.”
“We can turn back into dragons if we need to. I barely remember my mother. She was dead when I hatched from my egg….” He looked at Denki. “Since the day you brought me home, you’ve been my papa.” Denki nodded. “But….still I can’t come home…..” He sniffled. Denki held him. “How can I protect you when I can’t even leave this cave?!”
“You can. You’d just need to stay human, and give you a new name.” He smiled. “There was a name I wanted to give you the day I found you but I was so fond of Eijiro. How about I give you the name Kirishima? Kiri for short.” Kiri nodded. “Can you stay here for me for just a bit longer? I promise I'll be back as soon as possible.” Kiri nodded and Denki left.
As he walked back into town, he heard that the culprit that had been eating the livestock had been found. A few people had apologized to Denki, and he was allowed to bring back Eijiro. He thanked them and picked up some supplies. He then ran back to the cave. He almost freaked out when he saw Kiri eating an arm that was left behind from the earlier brawl. He stopped when Denki walked in. “I brought food, and some warm clothing.” He gave both to Kiri. “Good news. They found the culprit that ate the livestock. Your name’s been cleared!” Kiri looked at him.
“I liked the name you gave me though.” He said as he sniffed the bag.
“No one’s going to believe I have a transforming dragon as a pet.” He sat down and sighed. Kiri sighed and came up with a plan.
“Tell them Eijiro was slain, and you found someone that needed a place to stay.” Denki looked at him. “If I can leave this cave and come home with you, I’ll do it.” Denki nodded and helped Kiri get dressed.
“Can you walk?” Kiri smiled and hugged Denki. “I remember asking you that when I first found you.”
“I wanna go home and sleep in my nest.” Kiri said. Denki knew there were some things he had to teach Kiri, but he was happy to have him home.
Once back into town, Denki put on a sad face as Kiri followed him. He executed the plan perfectly, and everyone felt so guilty. When they noticed Kiri, Denki told them as he was walking back from the cave, he found a boy in desperate need of a place to stay. Denki, not being a heartless being, took him in. After all, it’d be company after loosing Eijiro.
“I’m Kiri Ma’am.” He replied. The butcher smiled seeing the boy.
“He’s adorable.” She tied up the bag and handed it to Denki. “I gave you some extra so you can feed him. I’m so sorry about Eijiro sweetheart.” Denki nodded and thanked the lady.
“Come on Kiri, I’ll show you to your new home.” Kiri nodded and followed.
