Chapter Text
The moment, the very moment they deemed it was safe, everyone fell flat on the ground. Isabeau struggled but collapsed in the end with both her and Jonathan hitting the ground in a hard thump, breathing heavily forming a haze of lightheadedness and nausea. Everyone was completely exhausted with most panting and lying flat on their backs but the moment of safety was ruined by small steady claps sending everyone in alert mode.
Before them stood something who seemed more royal than any king they'd ever faced for his gold skin and blue highlights made him seem akin to a deity. A lone blue eye watched in amusement as the Raven upon his shoulder squawked announcing his presence to those around. "I am disappointed Shesha never devoured you but within a human form you aren't capable of much, Merkabah." He quickly smiled, "My apologizes it seems I have caused a little blunder. I meant to say Jonathan for you no longer have even a shred of holiness." The man held out his left hand and before too long the Raven hopped and took it's normal place upon his fingers. Laughing quietly, as if to himself, the demon closed his eyes and was lost within pleasant thought.
With a harsh scream, one good enough to perhaps break glass, Isabeau shot from the ground and have the aura of death around her. "Where is Flynn, Odin?! Where have you taken him?!" Her voice was on it's breaking point, one more push and it would call come crumbling down. Months of defenses set up only to crack upon hearing of Flynn and that was when Jonathan realized how much he truly knew about Isabeau. He and her were close to being the same, passionate about the people they cared about, but he chose to sulk and cry while She stood tall and wielded her blade with a steely gaze. Is this what love was personified as? Someone who wasn't afraid to cut down death to find the person the loved and cared for without of their being, physical and emotional?
This deity, this god, the supreme being was Odin? His once light gaze turned harsh and icy as he pointed the lance within his hand to those standing in front of him; The raven upon his hand, squaking and shrieking, and flapping it's ebony wings sending feathers of rainbow hues falling to the ground below. "I have face countless ends and returned to more beginnings. If you believe I am afraid of a simple woman you are gravely mistaken." And yet, even with his act of intimidation Isabeau did not falter and everyone could see this. The godly figure placed his spear back upon the ground, the raven now resting in a more defensive position, While Odin himself was clearly ready to take the attack when given any chance.
Nozomi and Nanashi rose to take Isabeau's side even though both were still clearly exhausted from running, "Look, Odin, at this point everyone is on everyone's last nerve. We want to avoid a fight if we can so just tell us where Flynn is..." Nozomi's voice was tired, even if she was still relatively young a run for your life can take a lot out of you.
Odin just scoffed at Nozomi's tired voice as if he was just further proving that he was a being higher than humans. He was a demon, a god, and humans growled and barked at him like they were the leaders in the food chain. "Perhaps you should return to the egg you all chose to flee from." The god shifted his gaze from Isabeau to the large flesh like substance towering over all of Tokyo, "I can't possibly say the reunion you all are going to see will be the one you upmost desire. Both I and Lord Krishna will be waiting for your arrival."
"You're not going anywhere Odin." Gaston was finally the one to speak up, Though currently unarmed and very vulnerable he still found the courage to face this deity. "Letting you team up with Krishna would be un-fai-"
"Don't even finish that sentence boy!" The demon seemed quite outraged by Gaston's comment, "Un-fair?! Myself teaming with lord Krishna would be unfair? Then you humans humans must be more daft than I remember. If my eye does not deceive me, It looks as if this battle would be a one on six yet you call my union with Lord Krishna unfair?"
"Perhaps you're the one more daft because you apparently forgot I am even on this plane of existence." Everyone seemed to take the stride of Dagda's arrival quite normally like it was something that happened often. But Jonathan stood in a stunned silence, one so great he had forgotten about his pain completely. Never in his short time had he seen Nanashi even summon a demon let alone summon one without any sort of command. Now here stood something he had never seen before, A demon ignoring his master.
"Dagda..." The voice was something too close to a growl. So this demon was Dagda and they seemed to have a sort of knowing; Odin seemed to radiate pure anger and hate but yet he showed no signs of violence. Both stared at one another, cold eyes showing hostility but hands remained calm and composed. "Go back to your cage like the beast that you are. You've so rudely interrupted our conversation and it was one you were not invited to."
"I don't need invitations to participate in banter, Boy." Dagda's voice just seemed to cause Odin to tightly curl his fist; Everything about the two infuriated the other though Dagda was more prone to play with these feelings and to react with jest over physical combat like Odin. Both beings, gods, seemed to be the sides to a coin and if you flipped it peace or anarchy would prove their existences but with Dagda, It was rigged. A game no one could win for the coin shared heads on it's being; Flip and you would always get discord.
Their conversation seemed to be only a single person talking though two voices sounded in the air like they were a union, a supreme and divine god talking to his children. Dagda proved the joking child like purity that Odin made up for in a stern and harsh glare; Though these gods were not pure and one could just look upon them and see the blood painting their features lighting them in two different ways. Someone who fought for fun and thrills while the other fought for defense and pride. Both were praised by humans but yet both could not have fallen farther from grace.
If gods were stained by the blood that danced through the veins of their children then did that mean humans had no chance at a nirvana? Even his hands, both covered with a haze of dirt and the splatters of blood, Jonathan winced at this thought. Pain searing his skin and boiling his blood causing a heat to chase his mind leaving him in this state of just blindly watching Odin threaten Dagda over and over while this nagging voice above him would scream of his safety. While his hands and feet seemed non-extant his body seemed to struggle to gain balance, forcing himself upright and seeming to have a mission that even his mind wasn't aware of. Nausea tightly clung to his stomach due to this heat igniting his body but he wasn't going to let himself feel weak even if the world around him was reduced to a blur and the shrill screeching of horrible white noise. He tried, he really did, to just walk away and to solve this problem on his own.
If Isabeau or the others yelled he couldn't hear them. He wasn't sure if it was just the fact that his wound was making the world pulse and beat against his skull like a horrible migraine or he just simply ignored them. Jonathan had spent his time mourning and crying like a widow but if there was even just a small chance, something he could grab onto, he would happily grab hold. Life was a fragile thing and to save Walter's he would happily sell his to buy back what was once good; It didn't matter if he were to die, Walter seemed more worthy at a second chance than he did. He wouldn't spend his time moping and sobbing over something like a lost comrade; He'd stand up, dust off his clothes, and move forward.
Hitting the ground with a hard thud, one he couldn't feel in the first place, caused that horrible pounding to attack further. Staring at the feet of those around him, He just smiled at his own stupidity as his eyes fluttered close. Comrade...A companion who shares in the duty of activities or is just a fellow member of a group or union. That's what Flynn and Isabeau were; His Comrades though friends in arms would be more appropriate. He found their company reassuring but Walter, He was just a comrade who was far from comforting like the others. His being was just infuriating, his inappropriate behavior, and just his general attitude was something most didn't like about him. It would be a lie if he were to say he didn't hate him a first and most say you hate someone for a reason. That person is who you wish you were or could be but why Walter? Walter was vulger but...he wasn't afraid of how people thought of him. Maybe that's why he hated Walter because that's what he wanted; To show people the real him and to not be terrified of rejection.
Walter stood proudly in the light while Jonathan waited silently behind him in the comfort of his own lies. Truth and Lies, Chaos and law; People seek comfort in the latter while they state they prefer the former. Humans want the truth but are afraid and live within lies like seeking adventure but hiding in security. Walter was danger while he was safety and he oh so wanted to see was living a life of danger felt without worrying about caution.
Maybe Walter is who he wanted to be.
His Chaos, his bravery, came from his desire to save Walter.
To him, This horrible being of evil who would steal lives and hearts like thieves would bread, was his order. Lucifer told him there was a chance and even it it was an un-fair scenario he was going to find those eyes again. He was going to look into them and tell them, 'I never gave up on you'.
When he regained the consciousness he wasn't even aware he lost, He found himself being held by Isabeau while his head lie upon her lap. He couldn't tell if Isabeau was the one to spur this or his new found hope but once her face went front a tear filled frown to a small smile he forced himself to sit up. "Jonathan, Please you hit your head on the ground you need to relax!" but yet he continued to ignore her and struggled to his feet. Even with her protests, Isabeau held his arm firmly with Hallelujah on the other side. "Please w-"
"We can't give up on them." His comment seemed out of place in the awake world but he continued on, "My well-being doesn't matter; I do not care if I'm dying on the ground we must continue. Finding Krishna and saving our friends is our top priority." His feet could barely keep himself upright for the world would sway and dip but his friends had his back, to keep him moving forward to the cosmic egg. He wasen't quite sure how long he'd even been out for Dagda and Odin's shouting had died into true silence and Nanashi had rejoined the group. That blood on his face and the goggles on his head was proof he wasen't going to give up on Asahi even if his hand seemed to lack cards.
As they inched closer to the pulsing and flesh like substance that was the cosmic egg he heard this voice echo in his skull. "Lucifer is waiting for you all to arrive so we can truly start the party. Flynn has already arrived and all I need is you but do please hurry. They're both already asleep and Lucifer..." The voice died for a moment, "He's smiling."
