Chapter Text

Bakugou breathed hard and in rhythm to the echoing thuds of his feet hard against the track. Sweat beaded against him and mixed with the cool droplets of the oncoming drizzle. The evening had predicted rain, he wasn’t surprised. Once it started he was able to get some quirk training in,the blasts and booms wouldn’t be out of place in a thunderstorm.

The rain felt cool against his skin, as he began to head back to the dorms almost leisurely. Training his body and mind were becoming repetitive. In two weeks their regular schedule would be back and he would have more school work, more hero work, more distractions. His thoughts sometimes got the better of him, unable to figure out how to feel and deal with the intrusive insecurities usually put him in a foul mood, which was best because no one would pry. He could deal with it later. At least that’s what he told himself as he grumbled and muttered in the showers.

Turning the faucet he kept the water cool and let it run through his hair and down his body. Katsuki’s eyes wandered the shower stall for a comfortable spot to rest on, and he stared. It was easier to focus on nothing than to try to overcome these feelings. It was easier to just let the cold water dance around him, and forget about everything. At least for now.

Ochako had finished talking to her parents again, and managed to have a short chat with Tsuyu before she reluctantly had to part due to her big sister duties.
“It’s no biggie! I just wanted to check in with you and stuff. I miss you and everyone! I can’t wait to see you again.” Ochako had the phone on speaker, and was spinning it mid air, watching it float and bob as her friend’s voice came from the other side.

“You can always text me, I miss you too Ochako-chan. Hopefully it’s not too boring, I will text you later though. I have to help with my brother’s homework.”

“Of course! Talk to you soon.”

She let the phone drop with a small thunk into her open hands. It was 7:30pm, she had lost track of time while chatting. Gathering her things she headed to the showers while replying to a group text consisting of Iida, Midoriya and her. She wasn’t really sure what was going on but the various stickers and emoji’s gave her a smile, and she sent one that relayed that feeling in return.

After lazily drying his hair, Bakugou grabbed his phone and pulled his shirt on. He had a message, from about an hour ago.

uraraocha: Hey Bakugou, if you are still up to hang out and game let me know, if not that’s cool! We can do it another time.

He didn’t realize how long he had been in the shower, and when he got back to his room it took him about 15 minutes to find a shirt to sleep in. He wasn’t looking too hard, or fast for that matter, his mind being somewhere else. Fingers tapping against his screen, he sent a quick response and sat down.

bakukatsu: yeah you can just come in i’ll get it set up.

Despite what he said in the message, she found it a little difficult to just enter the room. She hesitated before giving a little knock and peeking inside the explosive boy’s room.
“Bakugou? It’s me-”
“Who else would it be?” The door was pulled the rest of the way open by him, and Ochako wandered in. She took her time slowly her eyes tracing the walls and decoration, before stopping in the center of his room.

“This aint a museum.” He flipped the lights off engulfing the room in darkness before turning on a small lamp and the television screen. Grabbing the controller he plopped down onto his bed as the welcome screen greeted the two of them. Ochako sat down, her back pressed against the side of his bed and knees at her chest.

“What shall we play? I am not an avid gamer, or really up to date on what’s good or out or anything.” She peered up at him, leaning back against the wall motionless all except his thumbs on the controller going through the selection screen. He paused a few times before he finally answered her.

“Whatever. It doesn’t matter what we play, you won’t be too good it sounds like.” Ochako gave a small frown that he couldn’t see from up on the bed. He had a feeling of regret as the silent moment after he spoke took over. “Shit. Here,” He crawled over to the edge of the bed and handed her the controller. “Pick whatever you want. And you don’t have to sit on the floor.”

Quietly she took the controller and sat on the edge of the bed. After ticking away at a few options and apps she decided. “A movie?” He said with eyebrow raised. “I figure, I should practice before I try to beat you in any game. You have an unfair advantage! And you said I could pick whatever I wanted so I picked this. Have you seen it before?”

The screen went dark and the opening scene started. “Is this a cartoon? It looks familiar.” He pondered, and Ochako spoke up. “It’s animated, I haven’t seen it. You probably have heard of if it before though it’s Howl’s Moving Castle.” He hummed in response as the movie unfolded on screen in an array of music and colors.
