Chapter Text
Taehyung swore that his heart was about to beat out of his chest as he waited in line to meet Omega Kim Jimin, the sweet, peach smelling man that he had met in during the hunt only days before, days that had felt like entire eternities. He wished he could have been in the front of the line, but of course luck wasn’t on his side, just like usual. He had ended up injured during the hunt, his left leg bearing a large, deep laceration down his calf, stinging and burning with every stride he made. He hoped it would’ve had a chance to heal before it was time for the fur presentation, but of course, it only stopped bleeding, not scabbing, so he was still unable to run to the front of the line like the rest of the Alphas.
It wasn’t even a cool scar, either. Maybe he could’ve impressed Omega Jimin if it was from a bear or something that he tried to kill, but of course, Taehyung received such a bad wound from such a stupid reason. He had been chasing after a fox, trying to catch something harder, more impressive than bunnies, to add to his..interesting..fur blanket for the Omega, but right as he made the final pounce to pin the fox onto the forest floor and slice it’s jugular, they both fell off the side of the cliff that neither of them saw coming. Luckily, it wasn’t too far down, and Taehyung managed to not break anything and only leave the could have been deadly fall with his laceration, but he still was the idiotic wolf who managed to fall off a damn cliff.
He didn’t even manage to get the damn fox.
Taehyung felt the deep disappointment sit in his soul when he came back from the hunt, arms laden with tens of bunny furs. He was so looking forward to having that damn fox to add to the bunny blanket, to finish it off, to make it so beautiful that Omega Jimin just had to love it, had to love Taehyung, but now he was just an idiotic, injured Alpha who could only catch bunnies.
He had sat in his tent, meticulously sewing together the furs, a skill that his Pack Omega taught him when he was a young child so he could help out with the laundry services. Taehyung got picked on a lot for that, since it was very much a beta skill to be sewing, specifically a female beta skill, but he didn’t care. The Pack Omega may have not been his parent, but in a way, he was like the parent he never had, someone who was there for him, someone who loved him unconditionally, who looked treated him like he was normal.
As he stood in line, eyes trained on the Omega sitting delicately in the chair on the stage, Taehyung could only hope that this Omega was the same as the one that raised him. Taehyung may have not known him yet, only met him a few days ago, only scented and cuddled with him, but he knew that there was good in the Omega’s heart, something sweet and beautiful that the Alpha couldn’t wait to explore. If he could only get the chance.
God, Omega Jimin was breathtakingly gorgeous. Even from what felt like what was miles away, Taehyung could see how beautiful Jimin was, could smell the almost overwhelmingly sweet peach smell as if it were calling out for him, pulling him close with every step he took.
He fought hard against the instincts in his head, willing his wolf not to make a scene as Alphas began to become bolder and bolder with their affections towards the Omega, beginning with some rubbing at their scent glands as they stepped on to the stage, hoping to overwhelm the Omega’s nose with their pheromones until he couldn’t smell anyone but them.
But then that wasn’t enough for the Alphas. As Jimin obviously became more restless in his chair, his foot tapping on the ground, Taehyung noticed, his scent spiking in intensity in the air, the Alphas got even bolder, resting their hands on the chair as they presented their furs, sending the Omega a wink as they walked off. And then came the hands on Jimin himself, on the hands that gripped the arms of the chairs, his knuckles white as they gripped the wood as if holding on for dear life, the guards fortunately immediately rising to action to grab the offending Alphas by the arms and dragging them away from the poor Omega who was left shaking.
Taehyung felt a snarl rip through his throat each time an Alpha dared to touch Jimin, but he didn’t dare move himself, not wanting to be thrown out and miss his chance at seeing the Omega. It didn’t make sense, that the Alphas kept touching. They knew they would just be thrown out just like the Alpha before them, but it seemed as if they were all under a trance. The peach smell must have been drawing them in too, like a spell, calling out to them, the forbidden fruit just waiting to be picked. It stabbed at Taehyung’s heart seeing that he was the only one affected. For some reason, he was hoping that he was special. Obviously he wasn’t.
Time continued to tick on, probably around an hour, when Taehyung noticed that it was his friend, Jungkook, stepping on to the stage. He let out a low growl, even though Jungkook obviously couldn’t hear it, warning him not to touch the Omega. Luckily the Alpha didn’t. He played by the rules, just respectfully greated Jimin, gave him his impressive furs, of course they were impressive, its Jungkook of course, and did nothing more. Taehyung looked down at his own furs, the soft bunny fur blanket, perfectly stitched, and sighed. Was this as good as a huge mountain lion pelt? No, of course not. There was no way that Jimin would pick Taehyung over Jungkook.
And then, suddenly, a high pitched noise hit Taehyung’s sensitive ears, snapping him out of his thoughts, his head immediately looking up, eyes flashing red as they locked on to the source. Jimin. He was calling. Taehyung growled in response, talking a slight step forward.
And then the whine sounded again, louder and longer this time, calling out for Taehyung again. The Alpha growled louder, taking two steps forward, eyes no longer flashing red. Now they were fully red, brown irises long gone.
Omega stood up from his seat, whining something loudly to his parents, and then suddenly collapsed onto the ground, onto his knees, and then the rest of his body met the stage as well. Every Alpha in the line began to snarl and growl, Taehyung’s being the loudest of all. The scent of Omega in heat hit him like a punch straight into his gut, red eyes widening and fangs elongating, and then the crowd of Alphas surged forward, aggressively pushing at whatever they could, at each other, at plants, at the guards, at the stage, it was pure, animalistic chaos. Taehyung felt the deep cut in his leg begin to open up and bleed again, but he didn’t feel the pain as he pushed through the crowd, mind only focussed on one thing and one thing only.
Jimin.
He needed him, and him only. He needed Taehyung. Taehyung wasn’t sure how he knew that it was him that Jimin was calling for, but deep in his heart and souls, both wolf and human, and maybe his DNA, he knew that the whines were for him, the calls for ‘Alpha’ were for Taehyung. He felt the desperation burn underneath his skin as he watched the Omega become surrounded by guards, praying that they were enough to keep the other Alphas off of him until Taehyung could come save him.
Yes, Taehyung would come save him.
“I need Alpha!” Taehyung heard Jimin scream over all of the commotion, the high pitched, almost painful voice, shoot straight through his ears and into his soul, pushing him to work harder in his efforts on getting closer to the Omega. Jimin was so close now, so close that maybe he was only two arms lengths away. And then the whining was cut off.
“Jimin!” Taehyung snarled loudly. It didn’t come out sounding like his name however, because of his elongated Alpha fangs, but the commanding snarl must have caught the Omega’s attention, because his eyes were immediately trained on Taehyung, and started clawing at the hand restricting his whining. The hand soon moved off of the Omega’s mouth.
“Alpha! Alpha! Please! I’m here!” The whine hit Taehyung harshly, the wolf inside him going absolutely mad, itching to go completely feral so he could rip the Alphas in front of him to bits, to get to His Omega. The guards around Jimin suddenly made a path. Seeing the opportunity, Taehyung surged through the opening, immediately placing his hands on the burning skin of his omega, releasing a mixture of protective and comforting growls.
“I’m here, Omega. Your Alpha is here,” Taehyung’s wolf said for him, voice deep and rough. He released a barrage of comforting hormones as his omega leaned into his touch, his much smaller hand placed on the Alpha’s.
“Alpha,” the Omega cooed, making Taehyung’s heart jump out of his chest at the adorable noise, “I knew you’d come.”
“Of course I would,” Taehyung replied, stroking Jimin’s tears away with his thumb as the guards continued to move them towards where Taehyung had dropped Jimin off at only days ago. Jimin’s den. “Why wouldn’t I?”
“I...I was afraid t-that you weren’t there, t-that you didn’t catch anything,” Jimin whined, looking up at his Alpha with cloudy eyes, still not able to clearly make out his Alpha’s face.
“I’m sorry that I worried you, Omega,” Taehyung cooed, nuzzling Jimin’s nose with his own, “I did catch you some furs. I was just injured, so I got stuck in the back of the line is all,” he explained gently as they were led into the den, guards taking their places surrounding the den.
Jin placed his son onto his bed when they made it into his room. “So you’re my son’s Alpha,” the Pack Omega said without his eyes leaving his son’s face. Taehyung stood awkwardly in the doorway, not wanting to intrude in the space. Jimin whined at the loss of his Alpha. Jin cooed gently, petting his son’s hair.
“Uh,” Taehyung started, watching Jimin pant and whine in his bed as he made grabby hands towards him, “I’m Alpha Kim Taehyung. My wolf seems to think that I...I am Omega Kim Jimin’s...Alpha,” he said awkwardly.
“It’s nice to meet you, Kim Taehyung. I know it must feel a bit strange that your wolf feels like this, but let me explain. Pack Omegas are different from ordinary werewolves. Instead of getting to choose their mate, they have a destined Alpha. And in this case, you are Jimin’s. This entire process was for Jimin’s wolf to find his destined Alpha, not him picking his favorite Alpha,” Jin explained to the obviously confused Alpha, motioning for him to come into the room. Taehyung stood next to the bed, Jimin immediately latching onto his arm, his burning skin tingling against Taehyung’s.
“I...I see,” Taehyung breathed, letting the Omega latch onto his other arm and nuzzle his face into his wrists, breathing in his cinnamon smell. “Can...can I lay down with him? I think he wants me to? If that’s okay with you of course! I won’t do anything to him!” Taehyung added the last part quickly, eyes widening in panic.
Jin chuckled. “Of course, go ahead. You’re his Alpha now, and he needs you. He’s in the beginning pre heat phase, so he is in extreme pain right now. Physical contact between you too will really help him feel better. I’ll be in the living room, call for me if you need me, okay sweet heart?” Jin said gently, touching Taehyung’s shoulder softly. The Alpha looked up at the Pack Omega, eyes sparkling as he nodded, almost in a trance. Jin chuckled again, kissing his son’s sweaty forehead before exiting his bedroom and leaving the pair alone.
“Alphaaaa,” Jimin whined immediately upon his father’s disappearance, pulling on the Alpha’s arm with a strength that Taehyung didn’t see coming, ending up with Taehyung being pulled straight on top of the Omega, face smooshed into his neck. Taehyung’s face immediately went red as he snapped his head up, looking into Jimin’s eyes, which were still clouded over.
“What do you need, Jimin?” Taehyung asked, pushing himself off of the Omega and lying down next to him so that their bodies were touching, Jimin’s hands interlocked tightly with Taehyung’s.
The Omega didn’t answer, only continuing to pant and whine lowly, and then suddenly pushed himself half onto his Alpha’s chest, his legs the only thing not touching the flustered Alpha. Taehyung felt his face turn completely red as Jimin nuzzled his face into the juncture between his neck and shoulder and suck lightly on it, mewling like a kitten as he began to nibble at it, heated, sweaty skin sticking to Taehyung’s as if they were becoming one person.
Taehyung may have not been used to such close physical contact, but he could definitely get used to this.
