Notes:

So I’m back y’all! This took wayyyyyy too long to think of I swear, sorry if I made y’all wait for so long. I’m back in school now, so I don’t have as much time to write. But anyway, this chapter is kind of a filler, but it gives some insight into Jungkook’s situation. Hope you enjoy it!

Chapter Text

Jungkook’s week kept getting busier. Ever since he formally met Yoongi at movie night in Jin’s apartment, he kept seeing him all over campus. He noticed the way he moved his body as he walked, which was a cute waddle that Jungkook couldn’t stop playing through his mind over and over again countless times. He saw Yoongi quietly helping an old lady cross the road, and turn as red as a tomato when she thanked him many times for helping her. Yoongi didn’t appear to smile at all at strangers, but his face lit up at the sight of puppies and cute children. Tae called him a stalker, but he believed that he was just a great observer, a great observer of Min Yoongi, 25, music producer extraordinaire, and Jungkook’s growing crush.

Because he had to stay up to finish an essay that he had been putting off, which was a terrible idea in Taehyung’s opinion, Jungkook ended up almost being late to his morning class on Thursday. Also known as, the one class that Min Yoongi happened to TA for.

He ran into the door of the classroom right when it turned 8 o’clock, right as the professor was about to close the door. Thankfully, Professor Rainer was pretty chill, unlike his professor for the english course he has to take, so she nodded at him in greeting, and walked over to her desk to set up for the class.

Jungkook ran up to his usual seat up in the back of the classroom. As soon as he sat down, he could feel eyes on in from the front. He looked up only to meet the eyes of Min Yoongi, which he had nearly forgot that he TA-ed this class. He blushed brilliantly, and looked away from him. He knew he would have to avoid looking in Yoongi’s general direction so he could actually pay attention to the professor’s lecture, but he knew he wouldn’t stand a chance against Yoongi’s gaze.

During the lecture, Jungkook’s line of vision kept swaying back and forth from the professor, whom he wasn’t paying attention to, and Yoongi, who was attentively listening to the professor. At some point, Yoongi probably felt Jungkook’s stare on him and turned to look at him. Jungkook immediately froze when Yoongi looked over at him. Yoongi simply just gave him a look with raised eyebrows that implied ‘what are you doing.’

Jungkook coughed into his fist *casually*, and slowly turned to back to look at the professor. Turns out, the professor was done with the lecture, and was taking questions about the lesson. Jungkook groaned into his hands, realizing that he now needs to ask someone for notes, which he hated doing. He felt guilty all the time for borrowing notes from other people, but he disliked asking them the most. Problems of having having mild social anxiety, thought Jungkook.

People were slowly filing up to the front door and heading out of the classroom, so Jungkook decided to square up and ask a classmate that he thought was somewhat decent for notes.

“So, um, Yugyeom right? I totally didn’t get all the notes for todays lecture, so, uhh, can I borrow yours? I totally promise that I’ll return your notes the day you tell me to, completely undamaged, free of harm! I-I’ll even get you a coffee!” stuttered out Jungkook.

“Woah woah woah there buster! I’ll let you borrow them dude! It’s all good here! Come to think of it, aren’t you in the dance team? Just return them to me next meeting,” answered back Yugyeom. He handed Jungkook his notes, which Jungkook accepted with gratitude.

Jungkook sighed in sweet relief, and smiled back at Yugyeom gratefully. “Thank you! I’ll return them to you on Monday then.”

Yugyeom gave Jungkook a thumbs up and headed out of the classroom. Jungkook didn’t realize it, but his body was tense the entire time during his short conversation with Yugyeom, and he only noticed it now that he relaxed significantly from his previous posture. He felt proud of himself that he could be able to do that, as he very rarely asked people for help. With a slight smile on his face, he packed up his stuff, and walked over to the exit.

“Why were you about to be late this morning?”

Jungkook was startled by the sudden question by the person who spoke behind him, and turned around abruptly.

There, where the voice seemed to have come from, was Yoongi. The abruptness of his sudden question and his presence made Jungkook turn red almost immediately. Typical, thought Jungkook to himself.

The two of them stared at each other, Jungkook in embarrassment,
Yoongi in curiosity, and a hint of amusement.

Finally Jungkook spoke up after what felt like ages to gather his courage. “I-I w-w-went to sleep at 4 because I had to complete an assignment I was p-procrastinating on.” The words tumbled out of his mouth clumsily, and he hated how his voice sounded, squeaky and constrained. He so desperately wanted to sound composed but his inner mess spilled out when he started talking to people he didn’t know well, and especially when talking to a crush.

“You know, you have to complete those assignments as early as you can. I only realized that senior year, and I committed to doing that until I graduated,” answered back Yoongi. “You’re really red by the way, are you scared of me?” His eyes held a glint of laughter, as far as Jungkook could tell.

He groaned into his palms and shrunk into himself. Why does it have to be right now, he thought desperately. Situations where he had to confront or talk to people he didn’t know well one on one were the worst for him. Obviously, Yoongi being the sole person he was attracted to right now wasn’t helping. So, as a natural response, he covers his face, and shrinks, as if he doesn’t want to be seen by the person standing in front of him. His mind starts churning out all his insecurities that he doesn’t want to be replaying over and over again in his head. He wishes that Tae was there with him, to pull him out of his deep, dark hole in his mind.

“Jungkook, are you seriously okay?” Yoongi’s went through Jungkook’s ears as a muffled sound that Jungkook could barely comprehend. He also now sounded alarmed. He kept calling Jungkook’s name, at least that’s what Jungkook could get out of his on coming panic attack.

Suddenly, two pairs or hands shot out and grabbed him by his shoulders and shook him roughly.

Jungkook fell backwards onto a couple of chairs, which made a loud crashing noise, which snapped him out of his panic. He looked around him, and looked up to see the face of an extremely concerned Yoongi above him.

“Are you okay? I’m so sorry about pushing you backwards, did I do something wrong?” Yoongi stuttered out the words to Jungkook.

Jungkook sat there on the floor of the classroom and stared at Yoongi. His mind froze for what felt like the longest time, and he finally managed to speak up to Yoongi.

“N-no y-y-you’re g-good with m-me,” whispered Jungkook. He felt so vulnerable, exposing a side of him to Yoongi that he has only shown his family and Tae. Jungkook valued his privacy and hated to show this side of him to someone that he wanted to think that he was put together in some way.

Yoongi then crouched down to his level, took his chin and tilted it up until he could meet Jungkook’s eyes. Jungkook tried to look away from Yoongi’s impending gaze, but Yoongi’s hand kept directing back his line of sight back onto him.

“Jungkook, please look at me. I may not know you too well, but you not being comfortable around me doesn’t sit well with me. Hold on, here, I’ll give you my number so you can talk to me, hopefully more comfortably, I guess,” said Yoongi, as his gaze shied away from Jungkook. He made a gesture to Jungkook to give him his phone. He typed in his number quickly, and promptly handed the phone back to him tentatively.

The two of them stood up after the number exchange, and looked each other awkwardly until Jungkook decided to distract himself by brushing his clothes off and gathering his things once again.

Once he was heading towards the front door of the classroom, Yoongi spoke up once again.

“So um, shoot me a text later? I’ll answer back when I can,” he said Jungkook kindly. He smiled hopefully to Jungkook, which Jungkook answered back with a smile of the same degree.

As soon as Jungkook got out of the classroom, he rushed to the nearest restroom.

He walked in, and went immediately to the sink, where he splashed his face with cold water.

A reflection stared back at him, the eye filled with anticipation, and doubt, and the mouth set in a grim, but worrisome line.

What was he to do? Ask Taehyung would be the first thing normally, but he wanted to figure this out for himself. He really did.

Was Yoongi falling into like? Or was it just him overestimating situations once again, like in the past? Doubt poured into his mind, washing out hopeful thoughts. No, he doesn’t like me.

The question lingered in the back of his mind.

Or does he?
