Chapter Text
There was a breathless pause between watching the Hydra lord crumble, and both of the women darting out of the room. Pinwheel stumbled back as they did, looking startled. "What the hell, man?!" he yelped, eyes wide.
Natasha rolled her eyes. "Go sit with him. He won't be out for long and it has to look like you just found him. Love and I will search for his guest on our own."
"Okay..." Pinwheel's face fell when the two beautiful women began to walk away. "Awww, wait, what? Why do I gotta-"
The redhead whirled and took a menacing step. Pinwheel screamed in terror and flinched back. "Okay, alright, angry pain goddess, I'll go sit with him! Gods, please don't kill me!"
She smirked. "See that you take good care of him," she drawled, amused, and followed Love from the room.
They got maybe five steps when Pinwheel poked his head out of the parlour, and called after them. "Try the library! He spends a lot of time there!"
Natasha barely glanced back at him, but lifted a hand in acknowledgement. It didn't take them long to find the large expanse of ornate pillars and long tables and tall bookcases that served as a library, though it was hardly enclosed. The pair split up, but all the doors they tried led to empty rooms or dead ends of varied sorts, and one bathroom. Finally, they met up in the middle of the area. "Maybe it's not here," Love said, looking irked. She crossed her arms over her sweater-clad chest, gaze flicking about them. "We don't have much time, we need to find it soon."
Natasha nodded, trying to decide what exactly they were missing. "Maybe a hidden room, somewhere."
Love glanced around them in abrupt disgust. "Don't tell me this is a bookcase cliche!"
The spy smirked. "Start pulling books on the walls, Goldilocks."
Hissing at her, Love stalked off. Natasha smothered a chuckle, twisting around to search in the opposite direction.
