Chapter Text
“Do you think anyone will actually show up?”
Dean looked up from where he had pulled another table to add to the growing group that they were using. “Stop worrying, Becky. This is a good idea. We rarely get Thanksgiving off. Having friends giving with the part of the roster that doesn’t hate us is a good idea.”
She breathed out a sigh of relief. “Maybe I’m just worrying for nothing.” She pauses. “Do you think-“
“No offense, but if you doubt yourself again, I’m gonna Dirty Deeds you through a turkey.” After he said that, Renee, who had been moving past him, setting out plastic ware that they had stolen from the hotel breakfast bar for their improvised thanksgiving dinner, slapped him on the back of the head.
“Be nice.”
He grumbled, but saw that Becky had indeed stopped her mind from spiraling, so mission accomplished. But, that didn’t stop this from being, quite possibly, the most thrown together event in thanksgiving history. They were using the deserted hotel breakfast room at eleven at night, with tons of fast food and stuff gathered from the nearest whole foods, to appease everyone, and Becky had just shouted into the crowded locker room of wrestlers what they were doing tonight, so there was no guarantee that this would be in anyway successful.
She hoped it was. She saw the people on the roster more than she did her own family, and that made them a different kind of family. One that punched each other on the daily, but there were some who were friends that you could rely on, and this was to hopefully bring people together and give them some sense of normalcy. That is, if anyone came.
“Stop spiraling, Irish. You’re being ridiculous.”
“No one is here, Dean. Just you and Renee.”
He glanced behind her shoulder and smirked. “I love when I’m right.”
She turned and saw Naomi and the Usos walking in together, greeting Renee and heading towards the table. Sami Zayn followed them quickly, and then the crowds really started to pour in, some even surprising Becky. The biggest surprise was Charlotte walking in. She and her former best friend were on amicable terms again, but they hadn’t really spoken at length since the brand split, so maybe this might be a time to reestablish that connection and hope it would go better than the first time.
As Becky looked at everyone settling in and beginning to talk, she couldn’t help but smile. Maybe being stuck on the road with these people wasn’t so bad.
