Chapter Text

Time went by and a stone was placed at the cliff edge in memory of Chuuya. Everyone in the village had accepted Dazai again after he had ran into the fire to save the redhead and anyone he could. But they realized just how human he had become when they saw him bawl his eyes out every time he went to the cliff. There where times when they would find the brunet sit at the edge screaming the name of his beloved. Only to be dragged away from there when he's about to fall over. He did try to commit suicide. But it wasn't nearly as severe at it had used to be. But despite having lost Chuuya, he still took care of his children the way a loving father should. The brunet even had been given the land that the previous daimyo had. It had been the children that had convinced everyone that the bandaged was the best for the role. So far no one had anything to complain about. He felt hollow, but he was learning to live with it. For the sake of not only his children, but also for the village. Two years past by and Dazai had finally collected himself enough to go to the temple at the village edge. The temple had been abandon ever since Chuuya and her children had moved out to live with Tachihara. The temple belonged to the Nakahara family. The redhead's father had been a powerful battle sage and her mother had been a oracle. But after their death it fell in Chuuya's hands, outsiders started to believe it was unholy because of the shorter's ability. It hadn't taken long before it had become more of a fancy home instead. Dazai knew that it had pained his beloved that she couldn't perform the duties her parents had left her with because no one came there for blessings or for prayers. It felt heavy to walk up the stairs to the temple. He remembered about always complaining about it to the redhead, who had ended up carrying the brunet on her back. Just to make the male stop complaining. She had always been so strong. Strong and beautiful... now there was surely nothing left. When they had placed the stone in her memory Dazai had thrown the hairpin into the valley, because he knew that Chuuya still had the missing piece of the pendant. Now the brunet stood in the tori gate at the top of the stairs, looking out over the big area surrounded by trees and a tall stone fence. As it was once again spring, the trees was beautifully in full bloom. There was a tree right in front of the shrine where one could send their prayers to the gods. The gigantic cherry blossom tree was probably thousands on years old and had at some point been two trees that grew together to form one big tree. The tree had become some kind of arch that you could walk through to get to the shrine. From the many branches hung beautiful winds chimes that despite being whole, no longer made a sound in the wind. Well, they had always done it just now and then because of the strong spiritual energy that existed in the temple. The tree was quite wide at the top among the branches and it was easy to sit there and look out over the village at the stair's bottom. Dazai got a pained smile on his lips as he walked closer to the tree. He could remember when he and Chuuya was still just children, how the redhead would always climb the tree and then dare the brunet to climb it. Then the two would just sit among the wind chimes and look out over the village. It was here that the shorter had told the other that she was pregnant with his child. It was also here where Dazai had given his beloved that hairpin. Well, he had a lot more memories of the tree. But the brunet was awoken from his flashbacks when the wind made the instruments hanging from the branches dance and they played the melody of the wind. Then the bandaged heard something else, something he hadn't heard for way to many years. Bells... and a familiar low rumbling sound. The hazel brown eyes saw something move at the top where one could easily sit. Dazai's eyes widened when he saw a familiar thing, a oh so long dragon tail move to hang down towards the ground.

“R-Ryuuoma!?”

The brunet called out as he went all the way over to the tree and started to climb it. When he was at the top he dropped his jaw. There among the flower covered branches laid Chuuya's father's ability Demonic Dragon aka Ryuuoma. But Dazai almost fell down from the tree when he saw that Ryuuoma laid among the branches with something on top of it. The long tail wrapped itself around the taller's waist and helped him all the way up. Tears was streaming down the brunet's cheeks as he crawled into the ability's embrace and wrapped his own arms around a sleeping Chuuya.

“Chuuya... Chuuya...” Dazai whispered as he cried into the long red orange hair.

Said women made a complaining sound before waking up.

“Osamu?... What's going on?... Where am I?”

Chuuya sat up, still with Dazai's lanky arms around her and looked around.

“I... I thought...”

Dazai couldn't speak because of the tears. Soon he buried his face into Chuuya's chest and kept on crying. The redhead seemed a bit surprissed at first, but after having been able to process what was going on. She wrapped her arms around the brunet with tears of her own.

“Seems like Father protected me... I must have been sleeping here the whole time to recover...”

“I really need to thank him... But first...”

Dazai sat up and Chuuya looked at him with confusion. But soon the two of them was smiling. Their lips met for the first time in ten long years. The light had returned in the brunet's life... not just in his life, but in everyone's life. When the two returned to the village no one could believe it at first. But after Ranpo told everyone what he had to say, the whole village decided to celebrate. The children where crying with joy over having their mother back. The celebration ended up being a wedding to remarry Chuuya and Dazai. This time they never left each other's sides and they moved back to the temple. When the story about how the redhead had so called 'come back to life' had spread to other villages, the temple was once again used the way it had been before. Chuuya ended up teaching her children how to handle all the duties of the temple and Dazai helped the best he could. They got busy, but they where happy. Both the redhead and the brunet had sacrificed everything and thought that they was never going to gain anything. But after years together again, they both knew. They made those sacrifices in order to gain their true happiness.

Notes:

After reading it again... it doesn't feel as bad as I thought... still not the best chapter or ending I have written and this whole thing could surely have become longer if I hadn't ran out of things to write about... I have the habit of coming up with the ending and barely anything of the beginning... and while writing I came up with ideas for other stuff so yeah... this whole thing got a bit rushed, but I still hope that everyone still had some enjoyment in reading. Please leave kudos and comment if you liked it, if I have made some misses or if there are things I should try to get better at ;3
Thank you very much for taking your time to read this, it always makes me happy to know that others want to read what I write <3
