Chapter 6: Fangirling and Gathering

Chapter Text

 CHAPTER SECS\

Fangirling and Gathering.

The door opened to reveal a short skinny youth clad in an ensemble of all black, a black base-ball cap to top it off with sliver rings hanging from the edge. Jin smiled as two large cardboard boxes were thrust in front of him, he gratefully took the load onto his left palm and wrapped the other around the delivery boy, dragging him inside without warning.

‘’What-wait, I’m not—‘’ the raspy protests were cut short as the door clicked shut and Seokjin gave the shorter a wide smile. ‘’Yes you are’’

‘’Oh my god—Augst d?!’’ a shocked voice piped up, its owner gaping at the darkly dressed individual; who strangely enough also had a small jaw-drop of his own.

‘’The hell-aren’t you the kid that wrecked the lift cables in the auditorium?!’’

Jin looked between the two, hands curled around the pizza boxes and eyebrows raised in confusion, ‘’Wait.What-who’s Augst d?’’, he looked down at Yoongi who saw sporting a light blush on his pale, ‘’How do you know that-who the hell are you?!’’

Namjoon’s eyes widened in disbelief, ‘’W-what do you mean? It’s me hyung! Rap monster!’’. Seokjin looked at the two with a narrowed gaze, ‘’uhm…so can someone let me in on the big secret?’’, his queries were ignored as the two disregarded the older.

Waving his hands in circular motion above his head Yoongi asked the other, ‘’what happened to the…abomination on your head’’. Namjoon blushed, hands insecurely touching his straight hair, ‘’Its not..Its not..I just straightened it..’’, his explanation eliciting a soft ‘oh’ from the other.

A muffled thud resounded as Jin placed the pizza boxes on the kitchen Island, frowning at the two high schoolers with a frown on his face and hands on his hips, ‘’Okay, you could stop leaving me out now-also’’ he paused and looked at Namjoon, mouth upturned in an amused smirk, ‘’Did you really break the auditorium lift cables?’’

The younger paled and hands covering his face, ears burning, ‘’Nooo…that was the worst! Ugh! I don’t even understand how that happened..’’, as if remembering something important Namjoon looked up again, ‘’Wait—you go to my school hyung?! How come—and you were there when the cables fell too?!’’. The older of the two high schoolers couldn’t stop the grin that spread across his face, arms folded haughtily while chuckling to himself, ‘’yeah, I’m the lighting technician of the theater club—you got me a few weeks off the job though, gotta thank you for that’’.

While the two reminisced (and completely ignored the pouting third wheel), Jin laid down a few plates and began to inhale the fresh cheesy pizza. The bite was disgustingly good and satisfying, feeling left out he pulled out his phone as a distraction; eyebrows shooting up to see numerous texts from his mother and a few missed calls.

Mother: Seokjin-ah, the school just called me. Jungkook got in some trouble at school but I can’t leave work right now, can you go?

Mother: Dear please check on Jungkook, I’m busy.

Mother: Jin-ah, why the hell are these messages still unread.

Mother: Which rock are you buried under?!

Mother: You better not be sleeping you little shit. Go check on your brother.

5 Missed calls from Mother.

Mother: you better respond in the next 10 minutes or I’m going to flip and then get fired and then we’ll have no money, which means no food—your survival is under threat.

Me: ok

Mother: You shit. You stupid adorable shit. You’re lucky you still have 6 of those ten minutes left.

Me: Sorry mom, some stuff happened, I’ll head over immediately.

Mother: sigh. Its okay, I’m just stressed about it, head over quickly.

‘’well that was dramatic’’

Jolting at the sudden remark, Jin shrieked in surprise; his phone slipping out of his grasp and falling flat onto the countertop, barely missing the open pizza-box. Putting a dramatic hand on his beating heart Seokjin looked behind him to see two mischievous pairs of eyes, the taller although having a bit of a more sympathetic expression, ‘’Don’t just whisper in people’s ears you morons’’.

Namjoon grinned wryly, ‘’sorry Hyung, didn’t mean to startle you’’

‘’That conversation was pretty interesting though’’ the shorter interjected, hand over his mouth as he cackled—pink gums peaking through. Jin scoffed, ‘’you’re lucky that smile is cute dimples, otherwise we might’ve had a kicking-out-of-this house situation happening. Well anyways, I have an errand to run…’’

Yoongi gave him a thumbs up while flashing a cheeky smile, ‘’Don’t worry we’ll take care of the house—‘’

‘’you both are coming with me’’

Rolling his eyes at their incredulous stares, the oldest walked over to the couch to pick up his hoodie, slipping it on quickly. ‘’I can’t just leave two teenagers I barely know unattended, also whatever you guys do—the blame will fall on me, so let’s avoid that okay?’’

‘’B-but what about the pizza?’’ Namjoon stammered, heartbroken to leave the delicious treat alone. Pursing his lips exasperatedly, the broad-shouldered man silently flipped shut the flap of the cardboard boxes, stacked them and placed them in the fridge. ‘’There, problem solved. I’m not leaving you two nerds alone okay, now get moving’’

The two teens looked at each other and shrugged, they clearly had better things to do but it’s not like they wanted to do them right now and hanging around the college freshman was begrudgingly fun—or maybe they’re just sad human beings, either way they hurried after the older as he alighted a small Ford B-max.

A few minutes into the ride Jin looked over to the passenger seat, where Namjoon was messing with the Aux cable. ‘’You want to play your music?’’

The clumsy teen spluttered, ‘’MY music?! No way hyung, you wouldn’t like that—its not very good anyways, I’m just putting on some singles I like’’ Tilting his head sideways Jin continued to look ahead, not turning his eyes away from the road for more than a few seconds. ‘’Joon-ah, I’m sure you’re great. Is he great Yoongi?’’

‘’He’s awesome Hyung’’ came the quick reply from the back.

‘’Pfft, what are you talking about Yoongi-hyung? You’re augst-d, everybody looks forward to your sick rhymes’’

Subtly checking the review mirror Jin laughed at Yoongi’s blushing face as he turned away from the both of them, ‘’yeah yeah sure…’’

Soon enough the car was filled with soft rock music and playful banter, time passed by quickly and before they knew it they had arrived at the school gates. Seokjin stepped out and carefully shut the door behind him, locking the car once the other two had gotten off as well. It was the middle was the school day so only a few students were out and about, some occasionally stopping by to look at the odd trio as they made their way to the administration sect of the building.

''It’s been a while…’’ Yoongi mumbled, gazing around in nostalgia.

Jin looked back at him, ‘’you used to attend this school?’’, ‘’yeah’’ the younger replied, ‘’although they had it re-painted it seems, looked more shitty when I was here’’. ‘’will the staff recognize you?’’ Seokjin asked curiously, only receiving a noncommittal shrug in response.

Knocking on the door twice and then entering upon permission Jin peaked his head into the principal’s office, bowing politely. ‘’Oh, hello. Nice to meet you, I’m Kim Jungkook’s brother Kim Seokjin, My mother was busy so I’ve come in her place’’

‘’Ah, yes hello. Please come in Seokjin-ssi’’ the middle aged woman stated, her dark brown hair styled in a neat bob, sharp features giving her a more serious edge.

‘’Sorry for being late, I only got the message after some time had passed’’ Jin explained as he seated himself in front of the principal, Who calmly waved her hand to dismiss the worry. Once he had settled down Principal Hyo-jin pointedly looked at him, ‘’Today Jungkook got into a physical altercation with one of his classmates, they both suffered some bruises—although nothing serious but were nonetheless escorted to the infirmary. After questioning some of their classmates, it was revealed that your brother had been agitated on some issue by the other student and the disagreement led to the fight, although no one is absolutely sure. Despite all this, fighting is forbidden; please talk to Jungkook and make it clear when some limits are not to be crossed.

Numerous nodding and apologizing later Seokjin left the room, heart beating unsteadily. ‘Jungkook and fighting??what even—‘

“Everything alright?”

A soft concerned expression graced the younger’s face, his black drawn hoodie making him appear even more delicate. “not really? I..I’m not sure what just happened”

Yoongi gave Seokjin a deadpan look, “okay. What did happen?”. The older exhaled in worry, rubbing his temple repeatedly, ‘’my younger brother got in a fight apparently…’’

‘’oh’’ the other muttered softly, stuffing his hands in his jean pockets. ‘’Been there, done that’’. Before Seokjin could question the phrase, Namjoon bounded towards them from a distance: half-skipping, half-running?

The two stared with barely-held amusement as he came closer, ‘’Hyungs! I got some snacks from the vending machine’’, the clumsy boy proudly brandishing a shopper in hand. ‘’I wasn’t really sure what you liked so I…just got chocolate milk for all of us…why are you guys smiling?’’

‘’No reason’’ Yoongi stated and snatched the plastic bag, digging around for his carton. ‘’Come on, where do we have to go Seokjin-hyung?’’ he asked briskly,

‘’the infirmary’’

‘’kay then’’ the shorter mumbled, slurping his milkshake. Namjoon gave the oldest a questioning glance, Jin sighed, ‘’some…stuff happened, let’s just go’’

A sharp hiss escaped as the school nurse dabbed disinfectant on the cut, then began to wrap bandage around his wrist. The health professional worked silently, not responding to Jungkook’s gasps of pain, after he had finished dressing the wound he took out a file, wrote some instructions and handed them to the sixth grader. ‘’It could have been a whole lot worse if your major artery was cut, be careful’’, the response being a slow ashamed nod.

Once the nurse had left, Jungkook groaned and laid back on the bed, fingers gingerly touching the bandage on his forehead. ‘’I can’t believe I got in a fight…the piece of shit deserved what was coming though-talking about him like that’’ he murmured to himself in frustration. The anger quickly faded away and became quickly replaced with anxiety as he thought of how the school would call his mother and she’d be so disappointed in him. Jungkook sat up slowly and put his head in his palms, pressing his eyes in attempt not to cry, it was bad enough that he wasn’t the best student and didn’t have many friends—it was even worse that his older brother was going to hear about this too, just when he’d praised Jungkook on improving as a person.

Jungkook hated when he cried, it was so annoying how sensitive he was—so weak and vulnerable. The young boy rubbed the heels of his palms into his eyes, as if to stop the wetness that had begun to spread, ‘so helpless and pathetic’ he thought glumly to himself.

It was then the door creaked open slightly, the curtains drawn around the patient bed prevented the middle schooler from knowing who it was, he silently waited as he held his breath, pray for whoever it was to leave so he could go back to his pity-party.

‘’Hello? Anyone here?’’

Recognizing the familiar voice Jungkook slowly stood up, heart hammering in his chest. ‘This is stupid. It’s just hyung..why am I..’, doe-like eyes wandered over to the large window beside the bed, a guilty feeling started to spread as he started to edge towards it.

The footsteps moved and the presence felt nearer.

In an inexplicable desperate attempt to avoid the inevitable Jungkook leapt for the latch, flipping it open and attempting to pull the heavy glass pane up.

It wouldn’t budge.

‘’Jungkook-ah?’’

(In the grounds, on a bench)

Namjoon watched his hooded partner suck the carton dry, not saying anything as he reached for another one and stabbed in the straw.

‘’So hyung—‘’

‘’Did anyone ever tell you that you run funny?’’

The lanky boy blushed, awkwardly letting out a few laughs, ‘’yeah I’m not the most athletic…they mentioned it wasn’t right—‘’

‘’I’m not saying its wrong, I’m just saying it’s funny’’

Namjoon paused to look over, the shorter still slurping impassively. A wide dimpled smile spread across his face, ‘’yeah, I guess it is’’

~Its my first BTS fic, I've been mulling over this idea for a while.
~this is meant to be a chill story--although I might decide an actual plot as time goes on.
