Chapter Text
Since that day at Katsuki's room, they haven't talked once.
I mean, Bakugou tried, more than once, but every time he was able to approach Shouto, the younger one would just find an excuse to get out of the room as fast as possible, that's why, since that day, Todoroki Shouto has been running from Bakugou Katsuki. And the blonde seemed more and more angry with each day that passed. Even Shouto was angry at himself, since he was running from Bakugou because of this stupid reason: he was in love with Bakugou Katsuki, so he thought that, if he stopped going out with the blonde, he would eventually snap out of it.
It wasn't working.
Instead, Shouto spent nights and nights awake, thinking about how much he missed him.
Even Midoriya seemed to notice his strange behavior, that's why he addressed the topic, hesitantly, while he and Shouto ate behind school (in order to avoid Bakugou in the refectory. "Todoroki, are you avoiding Kacchan?"
"Uh, no?"
The green haired boy just lifted one eyebrow, "Are you really lying to me, Todoroki?"
"Yes?"
Deku sighed, finishing his bento and putting it next to him, on the stair they were sitting. "I'm asking because I worry about you and Kacchan, you know. I mean, you two seemed happy hanging out together, and now you go out of your way to avoid him all the time, even though he clearly wants to talk to you. Everyone noticed it already, it's not just me. So, for you to act like this, I guess Kacchan did something really mean to you, huh..."
"What? No, no" that's what people were thinking? That Katsuki hurt him? Oh, no way. He understand why they think Katsuki would do something like that, but truth was far from it, he did nothing, Shouto was just bitter. "Of course not."
"So, what happened?"
Should he really trust Midoriya with that information? I mean, he is Shouto's best friend, in the end, and though his relationship with Bakugou isn't one of the best ones, he would support him, right? And it wasn't like he was betraying Bakugou's trust, his secret about Sanrio wouldn't be let out even if Shouto told his friend why was he sad about. Sighing, he answered, "We were together in his room, Kirishima came inside and... I got jealous at how he treated Bakugou."
"And you got jealous because...?"
"Because I like Bakugou" he looked at the shorter boy, waiting for some kind of surprise or disgust in his face, but instead, Midoriya smiled, softly.
"Oh, you finally said it! I mean, it was pretty obvious, but I was so afraid you didn't tell me about your crush because you didn't trust me, I was asking myself if you really considered me a friend, so I was waiting to hear it from your mouth and... I am mumbling, right?" Shouto nodded, hesitant. "But, anyways, Todoroki. I can't see why you got jealous from Bakugou, still, he and Kirishima are great friends, like you and me, that's all."
He scratched his neck, "Uh, some time ago Bakugou told me... I found out about a secret, and I thought I was the only one that knew, but then Kirishima just acted like he knew it too and I was like 'Well, I guess I'm not that special, then'. That's all."
"Secret..." Midoriya mumbled. "You mean the Sanrio thing?"
Shouto stopped.
He looked at his friend.
He blinked.
"How do you know that?"
"I've known him for almost my whole life, did you forget?" he giggled. "I started my All Might collection when Katsuki started his Sanrio one, and besides we showing each other our collections, I frequent his house a lot, and, well, seeing his room, it's hard not to notice..."
Well, now he was down, once again. Noticing his friend's enthusiasm dead, Midoriya was quick to correct himself:
"But really, for him to show it to you? He really trusts you a lot! And let you in his room? Don't be jealous of Kirishima, I'm sure he insisted until Kacchan showed it to him! And besides, he liked you a lot, right, Shou?" Todoroki sighed, and Deku decided he should change the topic. "But that still doesn't explain why you are avoiding him! Accept your feelings and confess already, Todoroki!"
"Why? To be rejected? You were smarted before, Midoriya."
"Do you really think he would..." Deku huffs, getting up. "Look, you should apologize to Kacchan! You are hurting him, can't you see?"
Hurting... Oh. He must think he has done something wrong that day, right? He didn't want Bakugou blaming himself for Shouto's actions, but he didn't know this could happen. How stupid. Slapping his face, he mumbles, "I will. Sorry to bother you, Midoriya."
"Just apologize" he giggled.
He was still thinking about a way to apologize (and maybe confess) to Bakugou when there was a knock on his door. Like any other day this week, he would probably not open, afraid of the person behind the door being Katsuki, but now, distracted with his ideas, he opened without a second thought to see the blonde there, lips pressing against each other, strange sparkle on those crimson eyes. Before Shouto could say anything, Katsuki stepped in, closing the door behind and standing in front of Todoroki, looking at the floor, though.
"Ugh, look, I don't know why you are mad or... Something. But, yeah, if I did something..." he mumbled, voice getting quieter and quieter, to a point Todoroki couldn't even hear what he was saying anymore.
"What?"
Katsuki looked up at him, cheeks red, once again extending his hands to cover his face with what he was holding; a yellow plushie that Shouto recognized as Pon Pon Purin. He blinked, but before he could ask what was it about, Bakugou pulled the stuffed animal into his chest, "Just take it, Icyhot."
Todoroki blinked, staring from the stuffed animal on his own hands to Bakugou, with his cheeks rosy, then the animal again and so it went on, until something finally clicked into his mind. "Are you trying to apologize, Bakugou?"
He huffed, but didn't deny.
Shouto covered his face with one hand, it's been a while, so he forgot who cute Katsuki could be sometimes (always), he felt his own cheeks going red, this was so adorable. Did Bakugou go buy a plushie just for him? Because he thought he hurt Shouto somehow? Damn. "You didn't need to buy just for me, Bakugou..."
"I didn't" he averted his gaze once again, concentrated on the desk or something close by, just to have a reason to not look at Shouto. "It was mine, that's why... Take care of him, or something."
His heart clenched; knowing how much of a collector Bakugou was, he was still giving it to Shouto, trusting him. "God, Bakugou, I'm so sorry I..." he hugged Purin, trying to control his will to hug Bakugou instead. "I should be the one apologizing."
"Don't, if I was the one that made you uncomfortable, Icyhot."
"It wasn't like that, you did nothing wrong."
The blonde lifted one eyebrow, daring to look at him again, with hands resting on his hips. "What went wrong, then?"
"Just..." How should he say it? It was now time to confess, don't miss your chance, Shouto! God dammit, this is hard. How should he start? Maybe saying that he liked Bakugou for a long time? Saying Bakugou is cute? Talk about his cute sneeze that looks like a kitten? Should he tell that he wasn't a Sanrio fan after all? Oh, he was starting to panic. Maybe he should just ask to date him already. "Don't use anyone's hoodies, just mine's."
He froze.
What a way to go, Todoroki.
He was starting to sweat, rare for him, considering the whole 'temperature control' he had. But he hoped Bakugou didn't notice, Bakugou, who was more concentrated with Shouto's words than his sweat situation, just stood there, eyebrow lifted, eyeing him suspiciously.
It was his end; their end.
But then, Bakugou laughed. "You are so weird."
Yes. In a need to say something too, he spoke, "You are cute." Wait, no, no, was he too direct? Now, for sure, Bakugou would be mad!
His cheeks started heating again, but instead of letting Todoroki see the pink on his face, he turned around. Icyhot, you idiot! Still on the door, Todoroki gulped, what he did wrong now? Maybe Katsuki didn't like being called cute... But then, the blonde turned to look at Shouto above his shoulder, cheeks red, smile incapable of being hidden, even though he tried. "Idiot~" he said, singing a little in the last syllable, and Shouto froze. Bakugou really knew all his weakness. "So?"
"What?"
"Where are your hoodies? I'll take what I like."
Well, not that Shouto really did expect to hear that, but if Bakugou was willing to wear his, he would not complain. Leaving Purin carefully in his bed, Shouto went to his wardrobe, he didn't have that much clothes, specially winter, considering he could heat himself if he wanted to, but whatever Katsuki wanted, he would give. The blonde hummed as he analyzed his clothes, thinking carefully of what could fit him.
"You don't have much, huh..."
"I'm more of a coat type of guy."
Bakugou laughed. "Fuck, of course you are."
He was almost giving up until he saw something hidden behind the pile of shirts; a white hoodie, at first. Katsuki took it off to look at it, each sleeve had a color, the left one being pink and the right one being blue, probably inspired by Harley Queen or some shit like that, but it strangely reminded him of Shouto. Shouto observed, only, it was a present from his sister, who said that she saw it on sale and it reminded so much of Shouto that she decided to buy. He liked it a lot, since it was a gift, but as she got the wrong size, Shouto was waiting to grow up a little to be able to wear it, considering how big it was.
He thinks of Bakugou in this, and can't help the blush on his cheeks.
"This is so stupid, looks like you" Bakugou laughed once again. "I'll take this one, then."
Shouto blush got even redder, did he take it because it reminded of him...? Oh, god. Without a warning, Katsuki put it on, not bothering with the way he could dance in there, the ways it almost hit his knees, not bothering with how his hands weren't seen anymore. He smiled, stretching himself, liking the way it felt; warm and comfortable. "Cute" he mumbled, watching Bakugou stare at himself from different angles on the mirror.
Luckily the blonde didn't hear that.
"Crap, the time" almost nine, Shouto knew. What a shame, he wanted to watch Bakugou a bit more. "I'll go now, but, look, take care of him, alright, asshole?" he pointed to Purin, resting on his bed, and Shouto smiled as he nodded, he appreciated the gift very much.
Bakugou walked to the door, confident with his new clothes (didn't even seem to bother if he was seen with that in the hallway, apparently) but as soon as he opened he door to exit, he looked at Shouto once more, "Let's go out tomorrow."
Shouto couldn't help but smile even more, "I'll look forward to it."
Bakugou blushed, though Todoroki isn't sure why, but before he could ask, the door was already closed.
Cute.
