Chapter Text

“Deku… do you like that?” A rough voice asked, quiet, while fingers ran across his sides with feather-light touches. Gooseflesh follows the trail of the caress.

“K-Kacchan, please—“

Firm, roughened hands slowly parted quivering, thick thighs. Pale freckles mapped said thighs like constellations dancing across the night sky. “Please what, stupid Deku?”

A broken moan.

“P-please, please, please—“

Izuku was appreciative his heat lasted only two and a half days. The third morning he awoke early in his heat hut, the primal urge that his body had been demanding was all but gone. He felt absolutely disgusting, dry slick and cum pulling uncomfortably taunt on his skin. Someone, presumably his mother, had thankfully brought a bucket of fresh water and a small parcel of dried meat and soft cheese twice a day. Izuku cautiously dew back the canvas flap and retrieved the items, quickly making his way to his nest to finally cleanse himself. He was already nude and immediately began washing his face, neck, chest, and arms. Flushing, he grabbed a washcloth and gently wiped between his thighs. A part of him was hoping that looking back on his heat might be like trying to remember a far-off fever dream, but he could remember everything vividly. Maybe a little too vividly, he thought, embarrassed, as his traitorous body began to react at the memories. The heat had sucked, to say the least, and he was already dreading the next one.

When he was finally clean and dry and his stomach not pitifully empty, Izuku pulled on clothes his mother had left, snug, black linen breeches and a cream-colored linen shirt with a wide, scooped collar. After pulling on his boots, Izuku immediately went into cleaning mode; he rolled the curtain back to begin airing out the hut, and he quickly bundled up all of the furs he scented. He’d have to come back to burn some incense and place some dried herbs around to help purge his heat scent, but he began to make his way back to his and his mother’s hut so he could get to washing the furs. Thankfully, he made it back without running into anyone.

“Izu!” Inko cried as he was within her sight. She was outside their hut, making a stew for an early meal. The sun was still rising, casting pink and orange hues in the sky. She hugged him, and Izuku blushed red again. There was certainly something weird about his mom being able to smell his heat scent and…indecency…that clung to the fur in his arms. “How was it, sweetheart? That wasn’t too long, I’m glad! I know I’m just a beta, so I can’t ever really fully understand. I hope you were still able to eat and drink okay? Mitsuki said I should only bring simple things that were palatable, I hope you weren’t starving! Oh! Mitsuki! The Bakugos, you should go over there, Katsuki—”

“Mom!” Izuku exclaimed. Inko startled when she realized she had been rambling.

“Ah, sorry, dear,” she replied sheepishly. “But really, is everything okay?”

“It, um… Everything’s fine,” he stuttered. “I, uh, just need to wash these furs and go freshen up the heat hu— er, where I was.” His mother met his embarrassment with a soft smile.

Inko took a deep breath. “Izuku,” she began, pausing until her son’s full attention was on her. “You shouldn’t be embarrassed or frightened about having your first heat. You are an omega, and that is a fact. There are some things others might not think you are capable of. And some of the things you want to do,” she continued, a bit of an edge to her voice but kindness still on her face, “like traipsing off into the woods by yourself, I might not approve of. But I want you to know that I will support you, sweetheart, no matter what,” she concluded.

Izuku smiled, and gave her a hug in return. “Thanks, mom,” he mumbled into her shoulder, closing his eyes for a moment. A hollow post-heat part of him wanted to be held, and even though it wasn’t an alpha, his mother soothed the hollow emptiness all the same.

“Now! I’ll take those from you and wash them, no worries. I’ll take care of airing out the hut you were in, no complaints!” she added hurriedly as Izuku opened his mouth to object. “I’ll be able to tell if your scent is still lingering better than you will be able to.” Well, he couldn’t really argue with that. “Now I’ll be off, make sure to grab a bowl of stew, and there’s a little something in there for you as well. I’ll see you later, Izu.” With a kiss to the cheek, she departed, most likely to the stream where betas did the washing.

At the mention of a possible gift, Izuku couldn’t help his curiosity. Inside on his bed mat, there were two beautiful feathers. On one side, one was pure white, and on the other, it had black and red patterned stripes. The other feather one was black, fringed with orange on the edges. Gingerly, he picked them up. Both were softer than silk, and he felt himself get giddy.

In tribal culture, single omegas that had reached maturity wore braids with feathers in them to flaunt their availability. Omegas were more than welcome to find their own feathers, but it was also custom for alphas who were interested to gift feathers as well. The more interesting the pattern or colors, typically the better. Izuku couldn’t help but laugh lightly. “I’ve never seen feathers like these, they’re so beautiful! But I have no idea who would do this,” he mumbled to himself. Regardless, custom is as custom does, or something like that. Izuku happily braided the two feathers into a lock of his hair, securing them with some beads. A vain part of him desperately wanted to see the new accessory, but he nor his mother owned a mirror. Mitsuki! He knew the older alpha had one; she loved bragging about how she won it in a card game. And then he could finally find out who the new chief would be.

Eagerly, he made his way over to the Bakugos. He knew that at least Mitsuki and Kacchan would be awake, as they were both early risers. As he approached the Bakugo dwelling, he could see both of the blonde alphas stretching outside.

“Good morning, Izuku-kun!” Mitsuki greeted, slyly looking between said greenette and her soon. “What brings you ‘round here?”

“Hello, Bakugou-san. I, uh, was wondering if I could borrow your mirror?” Saying out loud made Izuku feel a bit egotistical. “S-someone left me these feathers, and I want to make sure I didn’t mess them up when putting them in!” Nice save, Izuku.

The female alpha’s eyes glittered with mirth. “Sure thing, Izu-kun. And remember, it’s Auntie!” she lightly chastised before she made into the hut to grab the mirror, leaving Izuku and Katsuki alone.

Izuku was expecting silence at the best and insults at the worst, but instead he got, “How was it?”

He blinked at the blonde. “How was what?” he repeated dumbly.

“Stupid Deku,” Kacchan growled, as he was…blushing? No, surely he must be sunburnt? “How was your stupid fucking heat?” Oh.

“Oh. It, um, was alright I guess,” Izuku answered, scratching the side of his face in his slight awkwardness. I only fantasized about my childhood friend, his mind sarcastically supplied. “It wasn’t as intense as I thought it would be, but I’m already nervous for the next one,” he admitted. Katsuki hummed in an agreeing noise, and Mitsuki chose that moment to return outside.

“Here you go, Izu-kun.” She handed the mirror off to him, and the omega looked at his reflection.

The two feathers looked…nice. The warm tones contrasted nicely with his mossy hair. He couldn’t help but wonder; who gifted these to him? Was there someone truly interested in the omega, or was it a cruel joke? He got teased often as a small child, so the latter wouldn’t surprise him.

As if she could read his mind, Mitsuki asked, “So, has someone caught your fancy? Whoever it is, they must be serious.” This caught his attention, and caused him to stop looking at the mirror and instead turn his questioning gaze on the elder alpha.

“How do you mean, Baku—I mean, Auntie?”

She looked thoughtful. “Well, the birds that these feathers come from aren’t easy to come by, by any means. They both live on the damn near vertical cliff faces of the mountain. I got one for an omega or two back in my day. It isn’t an easy task!” she concluded.

Izuku was slightly awed. “Wow, that’s amazing! All of that just to tell me that they’re interested in courting…I can’t believe someone would do that for someone like me,” he shyly confessed.

“I can think of someone,” she muttered as Izuku wondered to himself, “Hey, where’d Kacchan go?” Sometime during their discussion, the fiery blonde had disappeared.

“Oh, we must’ve been keeping him. He has training with All Might,” Mitsuki said nonchalantly.

This was news to Izuku. “Since when has Kacchan been having one-on-one training with All Might at sunrise?” he baulked. He wanted one-on-one training with All Might!

Surprise showed on Mitsuki’s face. “You don’t know yet? I figured your mother, or gods forbid, the brat himself would’ve told you.”

“Know what?”

“Well, Katsuki’s been named the ninth chieftain of the tribe!” Izuku felt a a weird weight in his gut shift (butterflies, maybe?) as she went on.

“He’s All Might’s successor!”
