Chapter Text
Hifumi woke up to a high-pitched shriek.
It wasn’t annoying though, it was mostly familiar if nothing else. It was a Doppo-esque screech, the kind he let out when he was scared of something. At first he wasn’t too untroubled by it, maybe he’d encountered a cockroach that snuck in in the kitchen, but Hifumi dismissed the thought when he noted that there was no way it could be that loud from the perspective of his room, if that were the case.
The problem readily resolved itself when he sat up and actually took in his surroundings.
He had fallen asleep, head pressed on the side of the tub. He’d been kneeling in front of it and his hands were still inside, pleasantly lukewarm through the gloves he was wearing. He definitely wasn’t in his room.
The last thing he noticed was that Doppo was right behind him, not in the kitchen.
The right side of Hifumi’s face felt sort of sticky, and so he went to rub off whatever was on it with one of his hands, stretching afterwards.
“Do~ppo—” He singsonged, though it was interrupted by a yawn, “—you’re home early!”
Doppo didn’t reply for a while, but his hand sure shook as it rose up to point at something behind Hifumi.
“Hmm? What’s wrong, love? You look like you saw a ghost.”
Another period of silence, Hifumi pouted at the thought that his remarks were falling flat, but he guessed he must’ve been missing some bit of important context… he had never really been a morning person, and so, his mind was still hazed from sleep as a result.
“Hifumi, what the fuck have you done?”
Doppo’s grave tone when he actually did speak woke him up promptly, though.
He realized the reason his hands were lukewarm, and why he’d been wearing gloves in the first place. Looking back at the tub, it was full of dismembered body parts floating in shallow water. The stickiness on his face had been blood.
Ah, he’d been caught in the act, literally red-handed too. He took a second to mull over how to answer.
“Aha, so you really did see a ghost. Sorry about this, I’ll get this cleaned up like I always do, don’t worry!”
Doppo’s expression only got more grim as he stepped back, Hifumi only frowned at him further.
“ What the fuck do you mean “always”?! Oh my god Hifumi what the fuck, what the fuck—” He panicked entirely, running out of the bathroom, presumably to go vomit somewhere where a dead body wasn't present.
Hifumi sighed at the idea of having to clean the sink in the kitchen out later.
He stood up, though he made sure this time not to touch his clothes with his hands. Even if the blood on them had mostly washed off, some blood still remained and he'd be damned if he was going to get his clothes stained.
He looked down at the contents of the tub once more, and solidified in his mind that he really wasn’t in the wrong for this, despite his roommate’s adverse reaction. Yup, this bitch deserved it. He smiled down at the sight of her severed head near the bottom end by the drain, noting how tattered and awful her hair looked compared to how perfectly styled it had been not so much as a few hours earlier.
Women really weren’t so scary when they were chopped up.
He decided to stop admiring his handiwork for now and he skipped outside to go find Doppo. As much as he did want to immediately clean everything up as promised, he would be sad if his roommate panicked further and actually called the police.
