Chapter Text
To say Yoongi and Jimin were ready for two kids was wrong. The two of them had decided they did not want to know the gender of the child, hoping to be surprised on the day of the birth. But they still came up with baby names. If it were a girl they would name her Min Jiwoo and if it were a boy, his name would be Min Jisoo. They didn’t expect to use both names, but they did.
Min Jiwoo was a lot like her daddy Jimin. She was a stubborn little girl who knew how to get her way with just a pout of her lips. Jiwoo would often cling onto Yoongi as they played, and wanted to be the center of attention. She liked to be active and was very boisterous. Her uncle Jin and Kihyun loved her.
Min Jisoo was more reserved like his father Yoongi. He didn’t mind playing around with Jiwoo, but he preferred activities that were not so active. From a young age, he really enjoyed having Jimin read books to him. It was obvious he would be very studious when he was older, and his Uncle Namjoon was already looking forward to teaching the boy everything he knew.
Most importantly, the two of them were happy and healthy and that’s what really mattered. After Yoongi and Jimin had made up, the alpha had gone into overprotective mode. Yoongi almost never left Jimin’s side, deciding he would work from home so he could watch over his mate and his pups. Jin was luckily more than happy to take over the responsibilities of the company while Yoongi was on leave, although Yoongi was still heavily involved in the decision making process. He didn’t trust Jin one hundred percent; who knew what the man could devise if Yoongi left him to his own devices.
Most of their time was spent in their shared apartment; Yoongi had convinced Jimin to move in with him after they made it. Jimin’s best friend Taehyung had been more than a little upset, but his attitude soon changed when Yoongi’s assistant Jungkook had told him he was looking for a roommate. Yoongi had seen the way Taehyung had looked at the beta when they first met at a friend dinner Jimin had made them have. All of their friends had attended, Jin, Namjoon, Jin’s mate, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Hoseok, a mutual friend.
When Yoongi realized that Taehyung seemed to fancy Jungkook, he was the one who suggested Jungkook ask Taehyung to be his roommate. The beta seemed to be a little shy, but with enough push the two of them moved into a new apartment closer to Yoongi’s right after Jimin had moved in with Yoongi. Taehyung had been insistent that he be near his best friend in case Yoongi decided to do something stupid again, and although Yoongi rolled his eyes at that, he was happy Jimin had such amazing friends who cared about him.
So, yes, most of their time was spent blissfully happy in their apartment, acting sickenly domestic as Jin would often say when he came to talk to Yoongi about business. Yoongi would roll his eyes and pull a giggling and glowing Jimin in for a kiss just to make Jin uncomfortable, but he knew that the man was truly happy for them despite his feigned annoyance.
The only time the two of them were apart was when Jimin was at school. But even then, Yoongi would drive Jimin to and from university because he wanted to make sure Jimin was okay. Jimin would always huff about the unnecessary huff the alpha was making over his mate, but Yoongi knew that Jimin secretly loved all the attention he gave him. Jimin glowed under Yoongi’s attention and he did everything he could to give Jimin the attention he deserved. He had spent months wishing he had done more for Jimin, and now that he had the chance, he was going to take every opportunity to show Jimin how much he loved him.
This felt right. It was right. For once in his life, Yoongi felt completely happy. It was still difficult for him to learn how to navigate a true relationship - their constant affection and adoration didn’t mean they didn’t fight sometimes - but he found it was easy to learn with Jimin. Jimin was patiently with him after they finally talked through all their insecurities and concerns. Jimin had taught them that it was okay to be wary of love, but that love could be the most beautiful thing in the world. And it truly was, because love meant he could have Park Jimin as a partner.
When Yoongi finally decided to love Jimin openly, it was the best decision he had ever made. Being able to be openly affectionate with the omega and hold his hand when he wanted to was amazing. Yoongi couldn’t imagine when he wasn’t with Jimin and wished it had not taken him so long to realize that it was okay to love the omega. And Jimin, well Jimin flourished in the attention Yoongi gave him.The alpha did everything to be doting on his mate and considering it was good for Jimin and his pup, he made sure Jimin was taken care of day and night. While Jimin wanted to complain, he always let Yoongi carry him to bed and make him meals every day.
The two of them would curl up on their couch and cuddle while they watched a movie. Sometimes Yoongi would just place his hand on Jimin’s growing belly and marvel when he felt a kick. Jimin would often giggle at Yoongi’s surprised expression, leaning in to give his mate kisses, the movie long forgotten.
When it was time for the pup to arrive, Yoongi was more nervous that Jimin. They both had been preparing for the day their pup would arrive, reading nursing books and watching videos for tips for new parents, but Jimin was Attention from the omega’s mate was important during the time they were carrying the pup and Yoongi made sure to give his mate more than enough attention. Jimin would blush every time Yoongi would carry him to bed or whenever Yoongi would make him his meals. Maybe Yoongi could go a little overboard with his treatment of Jimin, but the omega deserved the world and Yoongi was going to give it to him.
To say they were ready for the pup to arrive would be wrong. It seemed Yoongi was more nervous than the omega was about the birth, even if the omega was the one having to go through the pain. The days leading up to the day they had to go to the hospital, the alpha would pace back and forth across the apartment while Jimin was leisurely sitting on the couch, hand on his belly.
“Hyung, you’re stressing me out”, Jimin has remarked to his mate, who in turn continued continued to pace.
“How are you not worried, Jiminie? What if the doctors don’t know what they’re doing? What if we don’t get to the hospital in time-“ Jimin had crawled across the couch to grab Yoongi’s hand and pull him into the couch. The alpha plopped into the seat, and soon his mate was crawling onto his lap and nuzzling the alpha’s scent mark to calm him down.
“It’s okay baby,” Jimin murmured into Yoongi’s neck as he wrapped himself around Yoongi like a koala to a tree. Yoongi could feel the pup and Jimin pressed against him and that helped calm him a little bit. He wrapped his arms around Jimin’s waist to pull the omega closer and muzzle into Jimin’s scent mark too. The scent of milk and honey filled his nostrils and he loved as their scents started to mix together.
“I’m sorry, Jiminie,” Yoongi murmured, “I’m just worried.”
“I know “ Jimin replied in a soothing voice like Yoongi was the one giving birth rather than Jimin, “But I’ll be fine, it will be fine. Soon we’ll have our pup home with us.”
Those words seemed to help calm down Yoongi down a little and he snuggled Jimin until he was finally able to calm down completely. His pup was coming. Their pup was coming. It was both exciting and terrifying at the same time, but he had Jimin there with him. And Jimin had him too. They were in this together and that’s how it would stay.
—
The next couple days were the most stressful days of Yoongi’s life. He and Jimin were getting ready to leave for the hospital, and they were packing all the essentials they needed for their stay. Jimin wouldn’t let Yoongi pack anything, because he knew that the alpha would over pack if he was allowed to. He made Yoongi sit on the edge of the bed while he packed the bags, humming as he did so.
“It’s happening,” Yoongi said after a moment of silence. Jimin stopped packing to smile at Yoongi. He leaned over to give his mate a quick kiss on the cheek, expecting to go back quickly to pack but Yoongi pulled him onto the bed so they could cuddle.
“Hyung,” Jimin protested but there was no bite in his words as he snuggled into Yoongi’s chest.
“I love you,” Yoongi murmured into Jimin’s hair as he leaned to give him a quick peck on his forehead.
“I love you too,” Jimin replied and the two of them looked into each other eyes until they couldn’t control their urge anymore. They kissed with no real urgency even though Jimin still hadn’t finished packing, but their love was more important than anything else.
After a few hours of cuddling, Jimin begrudgingly made Yoongi move so he could continue packing. The alpha tried to give his best pout to keep his partner close but Jimin just giggled and rolled his eyes as he leaned in to give Yoongi one more quick kiss before rolling over. The alpha decided to busy himself in order to keep himself from bothering Jimin, moving to the kitchen to make them a late lunch.
By the end of the day Jimin had finished packing for tomorrow and the two of them were resting on the couch, awaiting for tomorrow to come. They would have to wake up early to get to the hospital so Jimin could be induced, but the two of them weren’t able to fall asleep so easily. Perhaps it was the thought of them knowing that by tomorrow they would be saying hello to their pup. Their family would be complete.
Labor lasted about six hours and they were the most stressful hours of Yoongi’s life. He stood in the delivery room, holding Jimin’s hand the entire time he was on the bed. The doctors would come in and out, seeing if Jimin was ready, and Yoongi wanted to yell at them to just hurry up the process. His nerves were getting to him, and he hated seeing Jimin have to go through this. He hated more seeing Jimin look pained as he tried to push the baby out. But luckily, the whole labor itself was relatively short and the two of them were soon holding back tears of joy as their baby girl and baby boy were handed to them.
“They’re beautiful,” Jimin said as he cradled Jiwoo gently in his arms. He looked tired from all the work, but it was overpowered by the look of pure euphoria that had taken over once his daughter was in his arms. Yoongi was holding Jisoo next to Jimin, cooing down at the baby boy who was looking up at Yoongi with curious eyes. They were beautiful, because they were his and Jimin’s children.
“I love you,” Yoongi said as he bent down to give his baby boy a quick peck on his tiny cheek, “I promise I will always protect you, your sister, and your father, you have my word.”
The babies were healthy, so they luckily didn’t have to spend too much time at the hospital. After only a couple days there, Yoongi was taking Jimin and their twins home. They didn’t expect to be greeted by their friends in their apartment - Yoongi had given Jin and Jungkook the key for emergencies - but they were pleasantly surprised to find them in their apartment, with a huge “congratulations” banner hanging from the living room. Jin, Namjoon, Jungkook, Taehyung, Hoseok, and even Kihyun with his mate Hyunwoo, had planned them a small celebration for the birth of their children. They had even gone and prepared meals for the new parents who would be busy taking care of two newborn children rather than one.
The eight of them cooed at the two babies, and surprisingly neither of them woke up as they were passed around their uncles to marvel at their beauty. Seokjin and Kihyun seemed to be the most attached, both not wanting to let go of the children when Jimin came to take them back. Perhaps Jisoo and Jiwoo would have friends to play with soon.
Their friends left after a few hours, leaving Yoongi and Jimin alone with their children. The atmosphere of the apartment felt different now that Jisoo and Jiwoo were here. Before it had felt like a semi bachelor pad - but now, it had become a home to raise two children.
The two of them had spent almost two days preparing the nursery for their baby. They had prepared everything, painting the walls a pastel shade of purple and adding everything from teddy bears to a baby monitor to a changing station. The only thing they didn’t thing of getting was an extra crib. Yoongi has solved that issue but calling Namjoon as soon as their twins were born to explain their predicament. Namjoon and Jin has gotten another crib while they were in the hospital, and now the room was complete.
They set down the babies so they could sleep comfortably and their crib, making sure the baby monitor was set up before leaving the room. Yoongi proclaimed they needed to nap, because they were both tired and needed to take advantage of the time the babies were asleep. Their new sleep schedule would revolve around the children until they were able to sleep through the night. Yoongi predicted countless sleepless nights and he wanted his omega to be as rested as possible.
Nobody prepared Yoongi for loving Jimin. And nobody prepared Yoongi for being a parent. It was a rough couple of first weeks as the twins were settling into their new environment. Every couple of hours they would wake up crying and Yoongi and Jimin would make sure they were okay. Yoongi quickly learned how to change diapers and properly feed a baby. He often let Jimin sleep in as he took time to care for the twins, cradling one in each arm and singing to them gently until they fell asleep much like Jimin would do for him. Yoongi may not have the nicest voice especially compared to Jimin, but he had seen Jimin admiring his mate and pups one day from the door as Yoongi sang them to sleep.
The way Jimin looked at them so fondly left Yoongi overcome with so many emotions and the two of them went to bed as soon as the children were asleep so they could make more pups. Or that’s what Yoongi whispered into Jimin’s ear as they made love. Jimin whined as Yoongi teased him, telling them they were nowhere near ready to have more pups. And he was right, but Yoongi was satisfied with the life he had now.
Newborns weren’t easy, but Yoongi found that toddlers were worse. From trying to potty train them and teach them to learn the word no, he had his hands full. Jimin worked as a teacher during the day, leaving Yoongi taking care of the children during the day. He would take them to the office while he worked - most days only half the day - and Seokjin and Jungkook would often help him as everyone in the office cooed over the little Mins. Yoongi was proud every time someone called one of both of the twins cute, but he always wondered if all the attention would go to their heads when they were older.
Thankfully for Yoongi, when Jimin got home from work he would take the time to teach the twins how to be calm and respectful. Yoongi would lay on the couch - tired of running meetings and watching the twins all day - and watch as Jimin talked to the kids as he made dinner. He would often have them help with the little things they could so they could be included, and Yoongi would laugh as Jiwoo toddled with a carrot in her hand to give to her daddy who would praise her with little kisses on her cheek that had her laughing. Jisoo would try to grab a pan to give to his daddy, but more often than not Jimin would help him grab it. Still Jisoo would give it to Jimin proudly and Jimin would praise him as much as he praised Jiwoo.
More often than not, Jimin would bend down and whisper into their ears and tell them to go wake up their papa who would fall asleep on the couch after Jimin got home. The twins would toddle towards their papa and jump onto him, waking the alpha from his rest. While Yoongi should be upset for being woken up, he instead would grab both of the twins and cuddle with them on the couch until Jimin forced them to come for dinner. Dinners were always the best in the Min household because it was one of the few times the whole family could be together during the week. Jimin and Yoongi would take turns feeding the children and each other in between kisses, and they would start getting the twins ready for bed before cleaning up the dishes.
If Yoongi cooked, Jimin would clean and if Jimin cooked, Yoongi cleaned. The two of them had fallen into a nice routine, with one of them cleaning as the other made tea to drink before bed. Their nights would consist of cuddling on the couch and watching something on TV before heading to bed. Sometimes one of the twins would wake up and come to them, and either Yoongi or Jimin would take them back to their room. Then the two would look at each other lovingly and kiss until they were too tired to stay awake.
Yoongi never imagined he would have such a domestic life with Jimin, much less have two beautiful children they could love together. Not in a million years did he think their relationship would grow this far, but he was happy. Jimin, Jiwoo, and Jisoo were his world. He didn’t care about anything else as long as they were happy. And he was going to spend his whole life making sure they were.
He was glad he learned the most important rule in love: there are no rules.
