Chapter Text
Reigen had just gotten off the bus to walk to Serizawa’s apartment.
During lunch the day before, Serizawa had invited him to come over to his apartment Saturday afternoon. “We could have lunch, watch a movie, just spend time together… you know…” he had suggested, wringing his hands together. Reigen found it endearing that he and Serizawa had been dating for almost a month at that point, but Serizawa still got shy about asking Reigen to do things together, especially since they’d made out so many times in the office already. Reigen agreed to come over to watch a movie and Serizawa’s face lit up.
This felt like the next step: the first time they went to one of their homes. Serizawa and Reigen already saw each other all day at work, and kissing at the office was fine, but they had to cut it short in between clients, and though they could stay as late as they wanted after hours, they really didn’t want to be in the office any longer than they needed to. They went straight to their own places afterward if they didn’t catch dinner together. Reigen was just glad one of them finally made that move to have the other over.
Reigen turned the corner and saw the two story building where Serizawa lived. He eventually found himself in front of Serizawa’s door and knocked.
The door opened wide.
“Arataka” Serizawa smiled.
“Katsuya, hey.”
Serizawa stood to the side to let Reigen in. Reigen walked in past Serizawa, and took his shoes off before scanning the apartment. It was pretty much the same size as his. There was a bed, a side table, couch (which looked more comfy than his), and a TV on a stand with a cable coming from it towards the couch.
“I like the place.”
He turned around to face Serizawa, and his breath hitched.
Serizawa was staring at him with an adoring smile. Reigen recognized the fondness in his eyes, until he felt the air shift ever so slightly, and suddenly Reigen felt overwhelmed by Serizawa’s eyes on him. The change was subtle, but the fondness had shifted to something else, something more intense. Reigen couldn’t quite pin the emotion behind that look, but it was strong enough that it made him feel his heart skip a beat.
Reigen had come over to spend time with Serizawa and watch a movie since that was the plan. He didn’t think Serizawa was the kind of person who’d invite Reigen with an ulterior motive, and Reigen genuinely came over to spend time with Serizawa and get to know him even better. He had assumed things would lead to kissing, but in that moment, he knew that in a few seconds, if they looked at each other like this any longer, whatever plans they had that weren’t kissing were going to go right out the window, and, honestly, he was not opposed to that.
Except something caught his eye.
“Look,” he said, and pointed to right behind Serizawa. Serizawa seemed to shake out of whatever was going on in his head, and he turned to see what Reigen had spotted. His and Reigen’s shoes were floating behind him.
“Is that a spirit in the apartment or are you just happy to see me?”
Serizawa’s head snapped back to Reigen.
“Reigen, really?” he said, shaking his head but smiling.
Reigen smirked back. “I had to.” Even if it mean sabotaging himself.
“You won’t let me live the fake exorcisms thing down, will you?” Serizawa groaned.
“Of course not.”
Reigen turned around and took a step to walk further into Serizawa’s apartment. Then he wasn’t moving take any more. He realized his feet were not on the ground.
“Is this for the joke? Or for not letting the exorcisms thing go?” Reigen asked, floating in the air. Serizawa laughed.
“Both.”
“Okay, I’m sorry. For both. Now let me down. Please,” Reigen pleaded, feigning annoyance. Maybe he was enjoying this… just a bit.
“I think you should hang there for just a bit longer,” Serizawa retorted as he while walked past Reigen to sit on his couch.
“I don’t,” Reigen said. He lifted his feet up behind him and leaned so he would tilt forward. “I think I should come over and sit with you.”
“What do you want to do that you have to be over here?” Serizawa asked, arms open wide. Serizawa was clearly in a mischievous mood.
Kiss you, you bastard, Reigen thought to himself.
“I came over to watch a movie, didn’t I?” he said instead.
“You can do that over there, though.” Serizawa teased, and moved Reigen towards him, but only by a couple feet so he had a better angle of the TV.
This Serizawa that loved to tease him and flirt with him was being a real pain in the ass, and Reigen loved it. Reigen could play this game then. He shrugged. “I guess you’re right. I can do that here.” Reigen spun himself so he was facing up towards the ceiling and put his hands behind his head, like he was lying on his back on a bed or a couch. “It’s comfy in the air. Is comfy the right word? Anyway, what are we gonna watch then?”
Reigen didn’t hear anything at first. He thought maybe Serizawa was actually thinking of a movie, until he heard the rustle of fabric on fabric followed by soft foots steps coming towards him. He made to look behind him. When he looked up he saw Serizawa stand right behind him. He must have been hovering right above Serizawa’s waistline.
“I give in… Come sit with me…”
Reigen huffed a laugh, thinking to himself how Serizawa barely lasted in this war of attrition, but was only able to revel in his victory for a moment before Serizawa cradled Reigen’s head in his hands, leaned forward, and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips, cutting him off before he could brag.
Reigen’s eyes slowly shut. The kiss was a little awkward at first, seeing as they were kissing upside-down. It made it slightly difficult to slot their mouths together, but he didn’t particularly care. Reigen couldn’t say he had ever been kissed like this before. However, once they adjusted, they found a suitable rhythm. The gentle smack of their lips coming together softly and pulling apart filled the room. Reigen lifted his arms so he could grab the back of Serizawa’s head, to ground himself, or to do so the best anyone floating in the air could anyway. He felt his legs slowly rising, he didn’t know if he was doing that or if Serizawa was accidentally doing this.
Reigen pulled away, and slowly opened his eyes. “As… amazing as this is, I do want to sit down with you. Mind setting me down?”
Reigen looked around and noticed that Serizawa was now almost standing up completely. Reigen could probably touch the ceiling with his foot if he tried. He wondered if Serizawa pulled him up with his arms or with his powers.
Serizawa cleared his throat. “Yeah, yeah, let me just…”
Reigen felt his feet slowly fall to the floor. Well, almost to the floor. Right before his feet could touch the ground, Serizawa hooked his arms and dragged Reigen to the couch. Reigen gave a half-hearted “Oi!” and wriggled to make it a little harder for Serizawa, but let him bring him to the couch.
“I can’t believe I can literally say I still haven’t set foot in your apartment,” Reigen remarked.
Serizawa pulled Reigen down with him on the couch. Reigen up sitting next to Serizawa and leaned his head on his shoulder. He watched Serizawa mentally drag a laptop from under his bed and bring it to his lap.
Serizawa looked down at him. “I hope you don’t mind me manhandling you over here.”
“Not at all. You could stand to do it a little more.”
Reigen was being sarcastic, he was sure Serizawa knew that from the throaty chuckle he heard above him, but Serizawa still wrapped his arm around his waist and tugged him closer, even if it meant navigating the movie queue on the laptop would be a little more difficult.
Reigen wasn’t used to the attention, and he couldn’t help relishing in it. He hadn’t realized how touch starved he was until he had started dating Serizawa. A simple hand on his back had him melting, and Serizawa was a very affectionate man.
Surprisingly, for a man so clearly affectionate, Serizawa had been afraid to actually ask to touch Reigen. A few days into their relationship, Reigen already had no problem if he wanted to give Serizawa a hug or hold him or just touch him, and Serizawa never protested them, but he noticed Serizawa was physically distant otherwise, waiting to have touches initiated by Reigen; it was as if he still couldn’t believe Reigen truly felt how he did toward him and that Reigen would suddenly be repulsed by him. Reigen had to tell Serizawa that he didn’t need to be afraid to touch him. If anything, he’d let him know if he wasn’t in the mood for it, and over the next few days after, he saw less of Serizawa reaching for him with jerky, hesitant movements and saw him became more confident showing Reigen how he felt through hugs and touches and spontaneous kisses. Reigen appreciated it because he wanted Serizawa to feel comfortable with him, but he also craved the touches Serizawa wanted to give.
To think only a couple weeks ago, Serizawa was falling apart, afraid of how Reigen would react if he knew how he felt about him. Now the man was taking every opportunity to let Reigen know he was mad about him. Reigen thought Serizawa was cute when he was nervous, but he also liked this confident Serizawa and could say he was proud to see this change.
“What do you want to watch?” Serizawa said after he couldn’t decide on anything. In the meantime, Serizawa used his powers to pull the cable over and he hooked it up to his laptop. He used his free hand to open up Mobflix.
“A movie. You pick,” Reigen said. He decided on a movie but not a specific title because he knew there was a high chance they wouldn’t watch it to the end anyway.
“Um… Okay, I’ll look through then?”
“Yeah, go ahead.”
Reigen watched Serizawa scroll through the movies on his laptop.
“You’re so handsome,” Reigen blurted out. Serizawa was, of course, but Reigen wasn’t sure what made him say it beyond feeling compelled to say it and hear it out loud.
“Uh…” Serizawa seemed at a loss for words. He definitely wasn’t expecting to hear that. “Th-thank you. Um, you are too.”
“Thank you..” Reigen could pick up the skepticism in Serizawa’s voice. “I just…”
A bit of their “confrontation” from weeks ago flashed in his mind. Reigen didn’t want to dwell on why Serizawa felt his confession would be ill-received; after all, they were together, and that’s what mattered. It wouldn’t do any good to linger on it. However, Reigen didn’t feel right letting it go completely either. There was something that he needed to get to the bottom of.
“I just think I haven’t said it enough,” Reigen said, though it’s not quite how he felt.
“It’s okay, I would hope you found me attractive,” Serizawa joked.
“But I want to say it. To you.”
Serizawa blushed. “Ah… Okay…”
“But yes, you’re handsome. And so tall, too,” Reigen proclaimed.
“I’m—” he chuckled. “I’m not that much taller than you, Taka.”
“You’re taller than me, though.”
Serizawa laughed. “Is that such a huge plus for you?”
Reigen hummed. “You also have such a nice laugh.”
“D-do I?”
Reigen gave Serizawa’s thigh a squeeze. “Yeah, I love making you laugh, just to hear it.”
“Reigen…”
That was when Reigen grabbed Serizawa’s laptop gently and placed it on the opposite side of Serizawa on the couch. He climbed into Serizawa’s lap, and straddled him.
Reigen gazed at him, but Serizawa’s eyes would dart away from him, probably from how intensely Reigen was looking at him.
“You care a lot about people.”
“You do, too. Or you wouldn’t run the business how you do.”
“I love that you help me help people.”
Serizawa laughed. He must have thought Reigen was scraping the bottom of the barrel for compliments.
Reigen raised his hands and rested them on Serizawa’s neck. “I love that you work so hard to be better, even though you’re already great.” He kissed Serizawa then, and Serizawa began to melt into it, but then he pulled away after a few seconds.
“Reigen, why are you saying all this?”
Serizawa didn’t sound offended, Reigen could tell by the floating laptop next to them, but it was clear to Reigen that he was not used to this kind of praise that wasn’t about what he could do or was capable of, but of who he was.
“I can’t shower my boyfriend with compliments?” he asked.
“No, but this feels different than just complimenting me.”
Reigen admittedly didn’t have much experience dating, but Serizawa didn’t have any whatsoever. While Reigen was getting back into the routine of a relationship, it was all new to Serizawa. In the beginning of this relationship, they both agreed to go with the flow, with what felt right, but Reigen emphasized communication, especially after the incident in the office. Reigen knew it was scary to tell someone how they felt, but he told Serizawa that he wanted him to be honest and open with him. Otherwise, they’d have more huge misunderstandings like what led to their confrontation in the office. Reigen realized that meant that he also had to be honest and open with Serizawa.
Reigen started drawing tiny circles into Serizawa’s neck gently with his thumbs. “You have a tell.”
“A tell?”
“You know, like in poker, when you give your hand away by doing something you don’t mean to do, except in this case, it’s something that gives away what you’re feeling.”
Serizawa still looked confused, so Reigen nodded to the laptop floating next to them. Serizawa turned his head to look, and his face turned red.
“I, yeah, I guess you’re right, I do. But what about it? Is it a problem for you?”
“No, no! Not a problem…” Reigen trailed off.
Reigen thought back to multiple times when he’d walked into the office and Serizawa was already there. Every time, Serizawa’s smile and cheerful greeting as he came in would be accompanied by a different floating object. While the thought warmed his heart, Reigen felt that he was at an advantage he wasn’t quite comfortable with, at least not unless he addressed it.
Reigen looked Serizawa in the eyes and asked him: “Don’t you feel exposed when that happens?”
Serizawa’s eyes widened in surprise. “N-no, I like that, you know…” he swallowed. “Now that we’re dating, I mean… since it’s okay that you know…”
“But at some point you felt you had to hide it. I don’t have anything like that. No tell. I think,” Reigen stopped to give Serizawa a quick kiss. “I think it’s only fair if I just tell you how you make me feel, isn’t it?”
Serizawa didn’t have a response right away. Reigen didn’t think Serizawa was opposed to it, or better put, he didn’t think Serizawa had a reason to be, yet he wondered if Serizawa hadn’t considered that this put him at an emotional disadvantage in terms of balance in their relationship. Serizawa couldn’t hide his emotions if his emotions were literally interacting with the things objects in the environment.
Serizawa then nodded his head in agreement, though Reigen suspected Serizawa didn’t fully see his pointy yet. “I guess it’s fair…” Reigen leaned in and kissed Serizawa. Serizawa let him kiss him but then gently pushed him away again. “…but you don’t have to tell me everything,” he assured Reigen.
Reigen hummed, acknowledging the statement. “I might tell you anyway… Maybe I enjoy seeing things float around me when I tell my boyfriend how amazing he is.”
Serizawa began stammering out of embarrassment. Reigen gave a quick laugh, and took Serizawa’s speechlessness as an opportunity to go back to kissing him. Serizawa let Reigen kiss, probably so he’d shut up. Reigen let himself settle into Serizawa’s lap. He noted that sitting in Serizawa’s lap here on his couch was far more comfortable than when they were on the chair in the office. He should probably replace that chair. He cupped the side of Serizawa’s face in an attempt to deepen their kiss. He swiped his tongue at Serizawa’s lips until they parted. When his tongue swiped against Serizawa’s, he felt Serizawa’s hands slip under his shirt and slide up his back. He shivered at the touch. Serizawa always knew how to drag his fingers along his skin so it tickled and shot through him like electricity. Reigen hummed and slid his hands to back of Serizawa’s head and began rubbing his hairline. That earned him a small grunt. That was when Serizawa’s hands slid from the middle of his back and dipped dangerously low, right above his ass, pulling a ragged sigh from his throat.
Reigen kissed his way to Serizawa’s ear. “I thought you invited me over to watch a movie,” Reigen whispered, fully aware that he was responsible for the heavy kissing.
Serizawa dug his fingers into Reigen’s skin. “I don’t really feel like it now, not when I have you right here.”
