Chapter Text
Timmy thought his plan to avoid Armie was going pretty well. Until the Wednesday he was asked to deliver a catering order to a Mexican restaurant down the street. He rolled his eyes so hard once he saw the address that he thought his eyes might literally roll back into his head. He tried bartering with literally anyone else to have them swap shifts with him. Everyone else had excuses ready. He was the only one who could do it. He begrudgingly took the coffee over there, hoping that Armie wasn’t working that day. As soon as he opened the front door he saw Armie’s head as he bobbed in between tables. Quick in and out, I can do this Timmy thought. Nothing to it. He went up to the hostess desk to let them know their order was there and then all of a sudden she was gesturing for Armie to come over. Oh fuck, he thought. This is exactly the opposite of how he wanted today to go.
“Hey.” Armie had a big smile on his face. Like he was looking at the sun for the first time in weeks.
“I just need to drop this off with your manager and then I can get out of your hair.” Timmy said raking a hand through his long curls. He really needed a cigarette about now.
“Actually, I ordered this…” Armie reached out to grab the tray of coffees and pastries from him.
“I figured this might be the only way you’d speak to me.”
Timmy rolled his eyes at this. Okay, first he wanted to let him down gently and now he wanted to soften the blow by what, talking it out in person? No, Timmy definitely had more dignity than this.
“I don’t really know what there is to say Armie. I think you made things pretty clear. We’re good.” Timmy was waiting for him to sign the receipt so he could get the hell out of there. His legs were practically bouncing with nervous energy.
Armie reached out to touch his arm. “That’s just it. You don’t get it.” He looked at the hostess who was trying very hard to not eavesdrop on them right now. “Can we go some place less public and talk please?” Armie’s eyes were practically pleading for Timmy to listen to him.
“Fine, after you.” Timmy shrugged. He was a little curious about what he had to say for himself. They walked in the back to the manager’s office and Armie shut the door. “Listen, about that day…The girl in the pictures, that’s my ex, Liz. We have a few bakeries in Texas together and she’s really been there for me through so much but we realized that we were better off as friends than lovers as cliche as that sounds.” Timmy tugged on the sleeves of his hoodie, looking at the floor, anywhere but at Armie. “She called me that day going over some logistical things for the business. It’s hard being involved living out here while she’s in Texas so we have to do what we can to make sure we’re on the same page. There’s literally nothing but platonic love for her now. She’s my best friend.”
Timmy sniffled a little bit. He would not give Armie the satisfaction of letting him see him cry. “Why are you telling me all this?”
Armie walked closer to him, using his hands to cup Tim’s cheeks. “Because I really like you Tim and I don’t want there to be any secrets between us. After that night I felt like you pulled back from me and I assume it had to do with the pictures you saw.” Timmy blinked looking up at him. “I’m not stupid you know. You could give me some credit.” He smiled softly at Timmy.
“You...like me?” Timmy stuttered out.
Armie laughed at this and pulled Timmy into a big hug. “Out of everything I said that’s the one thing you heard? Yes you silly goose, I like you.”
“So the coffee order?”
“Was my big gesture, yes. You wouldn’t answer my calls or texts and you practically ducked out of the shop anytime I walked in so I needed something to get you over here.”
“You spent $200 on macchiatos to talk to me?” Timmy could feel Armie smiling into his hair.
“Yep” his mouth popping on the p. “And I’d do it again.”
“So what do we do now?”
“Well….” Armie pulled away from the hug looking down at Timmy, brushing a stray curl out of his face. “You let me take you out on a date and then hopefully I can finally kiss you.”
Timmy looked up into those deep blue oceans and Armie felt like he was looking into his soul. “Who says we have to wait?” He reached up to cup Armie’s face in his hands before leaning up to press his lips tenderly to Armie’s. He felt himself melting into him and wrapped his arms around his neck as Armie opened his mouth, deepening the kiss. He licked into Timmy’s mouth which he graciously allowed. Before this kiss Timmy could have counted the best kisses of his life on one hand, but now he only needed one finger. Nothing else even compared to this.
