Chapter Text
"Are you getting ready for your date?"
Todoroki's tone was plain and level, still heavy sounding and thick with sleep as he watched Midoriya from where he was seated on the floor, back straight against the side of his bed, both eyes half kidded and sleep heavy. The question was asked with every bit of nonchalance as if he were merely talking about the weather and not asking if his boyfriend was going on a date with one of their classmates.
Not that he minded Mina in the slightest, he had no ill will towards her and didn't dislike her. If he was being honest she reminded him of Midoriya in a sense, as far as energies went. Both had a drive to be the best and accomplish their goals, while also doing their best to help others as much as they could. It also helped she was just as cute even if that wasn't the deciding factor.
Midoriya froze at Todoroki's question and even if he had his back turned to him, Todoroki could imagine the expression on his face perfectly accompanied by the heavy blush that no doubt covered it. His lips turned up in a barely there smile as he saw Midoriya's ears turn red from embarrassment. A confirmation of the blush he was used to seeing on the other boy.
"It's-it's not a date!" He stammered, "We're just going to hang out! As friends!" Midoriya didn't turn to look at Todoroki as he gave him his answer, face warm as he tried to finish getting ready to leave so he could meet up with Mina on time. His brows furrowed as he shuffled through his things, hands checking his pockets as his frown grew deeper.
"I don't know, she even says and I quote, "It's a date!" You don't get anymore clear than that." Shinsou's voice was gravelly with sleep as he walked into the room, shutting the door quietly behind him. He tossed Midoriya's phone to him, the other juggling it from hand to hand as he tried to catch it, a breath of relief leaving him as he finally got a good grip on it.
Shinsou settled himself down on the floor next to Todoroki, legs resting bent on the bed with socked feet under the rumpled blankets, his back laying flat on the floor. A pained grunt left him in a rush of air as Todoroki flopped to the side. The same side Shinsou's torso was now resting on, his upper body now draped across the purple haired boy. Lavender eyes gave the other boy a sharp glare, the sharp look softening considerably when Todoroki buried his face in his arms that he'd set under his head to act as a pillow, a soft breath leaving him as he settled for a nap, eyes half lidded and sleepy.
It was the silence that alerted Shinsou that something was off. It wasn't a bad feeling per se, nothing he wasn't too worried about it considering Shouto was still calmly sleeping on him. (Shinsou wouldn't admit how envious he was of Shouto's ability to fall asleep so quickly.) But silence in Midoriya's presence was nothing short of unusual.
He turned his head to the side, tired eyes watching as Midoriya lay sprawled on the floor, hands gripping his phone as he silently took a few more pictures, a small, soft smile on his lips as he did. The expression he wore never once wavered as he went through the pictures, only made evident by the movement of his hand.
So invested in his task Midoriya jumped in surprise when a hand gently cupped his face, a thumb running over the many freckles that lay scattered across his skin. There was no hesitation on Midoriya's part to lean into Shinsou's hand, bright green eyes fluttering closed against his warmth. It took little beckoning to pull Midoriya closer towards him for a kiss, the photos taken earlier completely forgotten as a warmth settled in Shinsou's chest that left him breathless. A condition he found that seemed to be a permanent side effect of loving a certain Midoriya Izuku.
There was a moment of silence where everything was calm and warm, where it was only the three of them in their own little cozy bubble of warmth.
"If you stay here any longer you'll be late for your date." Shouto mumbled, voice considerably heavy with sleep despite having only rested for a few minutes. A gray eye lay peeking from between red strands of hair, watching the other two boys for a moment before he closed his eyes and resettled himself down to sleep. If he hid a smile in his arms and a light chuckle that rumbled through to Hitoshi's chest as Izuku jumped up with a worried yell as he hurried to leave, well then, none but him and the lavender haired boy was none the wiser.
Mina greeted him just outside the school gates, her smile showing off the full extent of her fangs that shined in the early morning sunlight, giving him a wave that Midoriya returned wholeheartedly. Midoriya ran up to her, both walking side by side after their greetings.
"Where are we going exactly?" Midoriya asked curiously, his thoughts going a mile a minute as he tried to deduce where they were going and what they were doing by Mina's outfit alone. She was wearing a light jacket over a plain, worn t-shirt that was large enough it settled over her hips, covering the first few inches of her cargo shorts that brushed over the top of her knees. Which meant where they were going wasn't formal in the slightest, so that knocked off anything on his mental list that required anything more than just casual clothing.
Gold irises seemed to shine brighter as Mina looked at Midoriya, bringing a finger up over the mischievous smile that had settled on her lips in a shushing motion. "It's a surprise! But you'll like it I promise! Now let's go! The bus leaves in twenty minutes!" She tugged Midoriya along, pulling the poor boy with her as they rushed to make it to the station in time.
If both had thought to even glance at the other they would've seen the light blush that covered their cheeks from the touch of their joined hands.

By the time they got back to the dorms the sky was darkened in blues and purples. And it seemed like everyone else had long since gone to bed, judging by the darkness that bathed each dorm window.
Both Mina and Midoriya quietly snuck into the common room, both covered head to toe in dried mud and bits of plant matter caught up in their hair. The common room was empty of course and their current journey led them to the kitchen. Mina rummaged through the fridge in search of leftovers while Midoriya washed his face and arms of dirt in the kitchen sink. A temporary wash up until they were able to go to the showers after they had eaten something.
Midoriya turned as he was drying his hands off, a soft sound of triumph from Mina drawing his attention towards the girl as she held two plates wrapped in plastic wrap, smile wide and toothy. After washing up Mina joined him at the table, both of them digging into their food in silence, too hungry and tired to keep up any sort of conversation.
The common room was silent except for the sounds of their utensils hitting the plates, as it should have been considering everyone else was well asleep at this time of night. They finished their food in companionable silence, taking their plates to the sink to be washed. Seeing the current state of it Midoriya frowned, muttering under his breath as he started on them. He startled only a bit when Mina sidled up to him and helped with drying the plates off, working on her self appointed task silently.
It was when they were finished that Mina started it, flicking bits of soap and bubbles at Midoriya, giggling softly when the fluffy clumps stuck to his hair without abandon. The next few moments and it was an all out war of bubbles, both of them struggling to keep their noise level in check for fear of waking any of their other classmates this late.
It was when Mina was going to try and throw a clump of bubbles in Midoriya’s hair that it happened, her foot slipping into one of the many soapy, wet spots that had formed on the floor during their playful spat. Her body immediately fell into Midoriya’s, both of them finding themselves victim to gravity as they fell to the tile floor. Midoriya’s eyes clenched as he braced himself for pain, only a pained grunt leaving him as his back hit the floor. Surprisingly he felt okay, the pain he should have felt from his head connecting with the hard tile never came.
Instead he felt the press of a hand against the back of his hand, protecting his skull from the hard tile of the floor, fingers curling gently against his soft curls.
Mina was above him, surprisingly heavy, which shouldn't have surprised him as much as it did, she was a good few inches taller than him after all. Their faces were just an inch or two apart, Mina's gold fire eyes looking into forest green, a dark pink blush dusting across her cheeks. Midoriya was no better, his face red with how close she was to him.
"H-hi." Mina said, breath catching nervously, unable to tear her eyes from Midoriya's own.
"Hey-hey." Midoriya parroted, fingers twitching against the tile of the floor, too nervous to move them anywhere else considering Mina was taking up the anywhere else around him.
This close he could see what looked like scales just under skin, a sheen of iridescent gold circles under her skin, faintly shining under the glow of the kitchen light. Her sclera was dark, ink black and swirling with shining colors around the edges like oil. Her irises seemed to glow on it's own, creating a whole new light in of itself that caught Midoriya's eye without any effort.
Pretty.
He wondered why she had those scales, were they a byproduct of her acid? Did it somehow hold or even help with protecting her skin from the effects of her acid once it was outside of her body? Like how a human's stomach was lined with mucus to keep the acid actually in the stomach from eating at the body from the inside out-
"Can I kiss you?"
It was Mina who spoke, soft and gentle like a prayer against the air, breath brushing against Midoriya's lips with every word uttered. The actual words making Midoriya freeze for a moment before he actually processed what she was asking of him.
And once he had processed it his face flushed red, mouth opening and closing like a fish as whatever he was trying to say got stuck in his throat. Another moment and he closed his mouth, green eyes still looking straight into gold surrounded by a myriad of black in different swirling hues.
Unable to make a sound Midoriya could only nod his head in a jerky motion, face somehow getting impossibly warmer the closer Mina got. A soft press of lips to his own is what caused Midoriya's eyes to flutter shut, the kiss itself short and sweet.
Literally sweet.
"What's wrong?"
Mina was looking down at him, face pulled in a concerned expression.
"Nothing! Just...you taste...sweet?" He winced at the wording of it, nervously awaiting her reaction.
What he didn't expect was her to giggle, light and cute enough to have Midoriya at a loss for words. Bright green eyes looking at her with a newfound adoration that he remembers vividly having felt at least twice before.
"You're adorable." Mina whispered. Even the soft volume of her words seemed loud to Midoriya's burning ears.
"So I've been told...a lot." He pouted, face softening when another giggle left pink lips.
Another few moments passed by in a different silence. Not necessarily awkward but not entirely comfortable either.
"We should probably get up, it's-it' s late." Midoriya said, watching Mina blink as she seemed to realize where they were and what position they were in.
"Oh! Right! Of-of course!" She stammered, hurried getting off from Midoriya and helping him up from the now mud streaked floor.
The rest of their time in the common area was spent cleaning the rest of the used dishes and trying to clean up the mess on the floor, both deeming it a lost cause before they finally retired for the night, heading to the dorm showers to finally clean themselves off.
Midoriya was surprised to see Mina in the hallway just outside of the ahowers, dressed in comfy looking pajamas and nervously playing with the hem of her shirt. She straightened up when she saw him, a nervous smile on her face as she gave him a small wave.
"Hey, so..." She trailed off, not quite knowing where she was going with what she wanted to ask.
"So..." Midoriya parroted, tilting his head to look at her, his cheeks warming as he realized her hair was still a bit damp from the shower, the pink fluff atop her head seeming to shrink in on itself from the effects of the water.
"Are we?" Her voice trailed off again, a hand waving between them both.
Midoriya blinked, realization hitting him as he got the gist of what she was asking. He couldn't help the small smile that graced his lips, feeling a little warm and giddy as he realized she was just ad nervous about this whole thing as he was. And it wasn't like they had talked it out in too much detail, what with it being late and the whole kitchen accident that had happened barely even an hour ago.
"Yeah, if you uh, want to be that is." He answered, watching as Mina seemed to brighten a bit more at his words. It was odd seeing her so unsure of herself or of a situation. Barely a second later and she seemed to deflate, as if she just remembered something.
"What about Todoroki and Shinsou?"
Ah, so that was it.
Midoriya just smiled brightly, unknowingly easing her worries with the sight alone. "Shouto doesn't mind! And Toshi already said you're his favorite out of the whole class which is basically his own stamp of approval. We talked it all out beforehand anyways so it's not as big a deal as you think Mina." He assured her, watching as some of the stress seemed to leave her shoulders.
"Oh-okay, thanks Midoriya-"
"Izuku."
Mina tilted her head cutely, something that Midoriya took in and cemented in his memory.
"Since we're dating now I figure...you can call me Izuku." He said nervously, scratching at the still damp curls on the nape of his neck.
Mina's face went a dark pink, the yellow scales just under her skin shining brighter under the hall lights. "I'd...I'd like that Izuku." She said, her smile showing fangs. I’ll see you tomorrow then?”
Drying curls bounced as Izuku nodded his head, both heading back towards their respective dorms.
“Izuku!”
Mina’s call got Izuku’s attention, the boy turning just in time for the girl to kiss his cheek, wishing him a goodnight before turning and running back towards her dorm room.
