Chapter Text
"Senko-sama, the car is waiting outside. Your great grandfather is waiting as well." The maid bowed before turning away and heading back to the kitchen. Now left in silence the mentioned girl placed her chopsticks down and stood up, heading to the entrance she grabbed her shoes and placed them on, picking up her school bag as well as she headed out unto the courtyard. The walk to the car was short, the morning breeze carrying the last of the spring showers and the few sakura petals remaining. Stepping into the car the girl greeted the elderly man sat on the other side of the car as she belted up; soon after they began their journey the soft lull of the engines creating a soothing atmosphere as the two occupants sat in comfortable silence. With his gaze turned to the window, the old man began to speak as a small smile appeared on his face, "You've been in America for the whole of spring break, and I've been extremely busy running the company and overseeing our hero office lately." The old man turned toward his great-granddaughter as he continued to speak. "And because of this, I was unable to meet up and congratulate you for your acceptance to UA. Although your recommendation went through, you still proved yourself in the test and that is deserving of praise." A small smile graced the girl's lips at his praise, a small 'thank you' escaping her lips. Her grandfather shook his head as he turned back to the window, a wider smile on his lips also. "No need to thank me yet. I will be in Musutafu for another three days before I have to travel to the UK for some work. Tomorrow after school invite your friends over, I'll take you all to celebrate your acceptance into UA."
"Thank you, great grandfather." The young girl grabbed a hold of her bag as the car neared the gates of UA, the sidewalk and entrance bare of any students due to how early the drop off was. Exiting the car, she waved her great grandfather goodbye as he drove by. Just by coincidence her phone rang, the familiar tune associated with her close friend filling the air. "Hello, Lydia? Yes... I'm at school. No, I'm still outside. OK I'll wait." With the conversation over the girl stood to wait by the gate, a short while later footsteps could be heard as tan legs rounded the corner. "Senko!" Forest green eyes squeezed shut as she proceeded to crush Senko in a bear hug, her bag already forgotten on the floor. "I've missed you so much! How was your trip to America!? Omg, I was stuck here studying all spring while my parents pranced all over Europe, I wanted to cry in despair, it's just not fair!" With a comical gasp for air, Lydia attempted to resume her barrage of words before a finger was firmly pressed against her lips to silence her. With a chuckle, Senko motioned for Lydia to be quiet as she picked up her friends bag and handed it over to her. "I understand that you're excited to be a UA student but please, reign in that enthusiasm for later, it's too early in the morning to be so boisterous about anything." Lydia laughed as she collected the bag and looped her hand into the crook of Senko's arms. Together they stepped through the gates of UA and made their way to the main school building, after collecting their time tables they both continued towards the first year Hero course, snippets of conversation could be heard in the corridors as the two girls chatted. Opening the huge doors the girls weren't surprised to find the classroom empty, moving towards the back of the class they choose the two middle desks of the last row and placed their bags unto the desks. "Haaaaah... to think we entered UA, it feels like such a dream. If it is, I don't want to wake up!" Lydia's enthusiastic voice rung in the empty classroom while Senko sat down and laid her head on the table, the coolness of the wood a welcomed relief. Walking around Lydia turned back to Senko as she traced her fingers over all the desks." Do you think the Brain Duo made it in?" Senko scoffed at the question and turned to face the window, the rays of the sun hitting her cheeks were stronger than when she left the house. "There's no doubt in my mind that those two made it, their brains are too big for the school not to notice." Lydia giggled at the comment and walked back to Senko, sitting on her desk, she joined her close friend in watching the sun filter into the classroom, the silence warm and comforting. "Let's try our best these next three years Senko, we'll become amazing heroes that the people can look up to together." A grunt was all she received as she looked down at her friend but that was all she needed. A small smile graced her lips at that and she settled for the silence.
Ten minutes passed before the large 1-A doors pushed open again. A boy with dual red and white hair walked in followed closely by a tall girl with her dark hair in a ponytail. Senko turned her head towards the two of them and watched the boy choose the furthest left seat a row ahead of her, she watched as the dark-haired girl sat next to the dual haired boy; her chair being directly in front of Lydia's. Instantly she turned around, a gentle smile on her face as she introduced herself. "Hello, nice to meet you two. My name's Yaoyorozu Momo." A small smile graced Senko's lips as she waved at the girl, whilst Lydia grabbed her hand and beamed at her, her excitement written on her face. "Nice to meet you too! Name's Lydia and that's Senko!" Yaoyoruzu nodded her head as she smiled at the two other girls, with the three acquainted with each other, their eyes naturally turned to the only person yet to introduce himself, he continued to stare out the window as the three watched him. That is until Lydia cleared her throat and gained his attention." "Since we are going to be classmates for the next three years of our life, wouldn't it be ideal to introduce yourself and start making friends?" The boy turned towards the cluster of students; his face expressionless and devoid of emotion. "Todoroki Shouto." With that, Shouto turned back to the window and continued to gaze into the sky, oblivious to the tension that had now permeated the air. Senko glared at the back of his head at his off-putting behaviour and turned back to the two other girls. Lydia suddenly clapped her hands together, a smile appearing on her lips as she looked at the other students in the room. "OMG, I just realised that we saw each other at the test thing! Yaoyorozu-san and Todoroki-san were at the recommendation exams with Senko and I! I can't believe I didn't remember!" At this Shouto turned back to the girls and stared at the three of them. He couldn't remember their faces, which wasn't a surprise seeing as he could barely remember the event itself. Looking over the three girls he tried to assess them and any indications for their quirks but to no avail, coming up short he turned back to the window and continued to ignore the girls. With a shrug of her shoulders, Lydia turned back to Momo and resumed conversation while Senko filled in an answer at odd intervals.
Once again the large 1-A doors opened as a tall boy with glasses walked inside, nodding his head to the three girls he made his way towards the far-right seat on the same row as Shouto. He sat quietly as he faced the front, his posture stiff and face set in a stern expression. Once again Lydia called out to him from her seat and waved once she gained his attention. "Lydia Kraag, nice to meet you. And these are my friends Yaoyorozu Momo." A small wave was done by Yaoyorozu. "And Kim Senko." A small, nonchalant nod was displayed and the blue-haired boy nodded once again as he stood up to bow, his voice filling up the classroom. "Iida Tenya! Nice to meet you too!" With Lydia beckoning him over he hesitantly approached the girls. Just as he was about to speak the door slammed open as a scowling, blonde-haired boy walked into the classroom, his scowl deepening at the sight of other students in the classroom. Stomping his way towards the left side of the room he dumped his bag unto the furthest left seat in the second row from the front. Sitting down he placed his hand behind his head and closed his eyes, indicating his reluctance to talk to anyone. "Well, he's a downer." Was all Lydia said as she turned away from the boy, her frown quickly disappearing as she turned back to the small cluster of students surrounding her table.
Once again quiet chatter resumed as time passed. Another ten minutes passed before the door swung open again and three other students walked in, their voices loud and boisterous. A red-haired guy as well as a pink-skinned girl and finally a boy with blonde hair with a dark streak on the fringe. Their chatter quietened as they looked at the other students, the air momentarily tense before they walked further into the classroom. Senko watched the pink-skinned girl walk towards the far right seat, on the same row as the angry blonde before her blonde friend took up the chair next to her and the spiky redhead sat behind him. The three continued that conversation while Lydia turned back to the two girls and sighed. "You'd think that they'd at least try to be friendly. An introduction doesn't hurt anyone." Yaoyorozu looked towards Shouto and the blonde boy, her gaze returning back to the other two girls and Iida. "Those two are probably affecting the mood and we've already formed our own friendship group so it's harder to approach us. At least that's what I believe." Lydia nodded her head in understanding as she turned back towards Senko, who had closed her eyes. "Are you gonna sleep?" Lydia asked and all she received was a nod before Senko turned her head towards the wall, "Wake me up when class is about to start." Senko didn't see Lydia's nod and she didn't need to, she knew her response already.
An unknown amount of time passed before Senko felt a soft shake on her shoulder, raising her head she looked around to see that the classroom was full and that their teacher was at the front of the class already. Suddenly students began to stand and walk towards a shelve in the wall, which contained what Senko believed to be sports uniforms. Standing up Senko followed after Lydia, unsure as to what was happening she tapped on her friend's shoulder as she looked around while whispering, "Lydia, what's going on?" Her friend turned towards and whispered, "Quirk apprehension test." Shocked, Senko turned towards the clock on the classroom wall and then towards the scruffy man next to the door. "Aren't we supposed to be at the opening ceremony right now?" Lydia shrugged her shoulders as she grabbed the uniform from where her name was labelled underneath. "He said that he decides what we do and that the ceremony is unnecessary, or something like that... I wasn't really paying too much attention to him." Grabbing her uniform also, Senko followed behind Lydia as she explained what had happened while she was asleep, still chatting they made their way towards the female changing rooms.
