Chapter Text

“Alright,” Eri stood determined in the time travel spot. “We’re ready!”

Hitoshi and Eri were both geared up for whatever situations they may come by, which included things like back-up love letters, back-up chocolates, back-up flowers, back-up mixtapes, etc. Basically, preparing for either Hizashi or Shouta to throw in the towel and give up on their feelings being shared or preparing for the possibility of something getting destroyed from a villain attack or something similar.

“You’ve got to start telling the story of how you two confessed,” Hitoshi pointed out.

“I mean, I’m pretty sure Shouta and I’s stories are a little different, but it kind of started when I had just finished making a mix-tape for Shouta that I was going to use to confess my feelings. Then, poof!”

As if that was the magic word, both Eri and Hitoshi were transported back in time, landing squarely where they both recognized as UA.

“So, now I guess we’ve got to find out where our dads are…” Hitoshi commented, looking around before laying eyes on a clearly distraught Hizashi who was moving around frantically.

“Excuse me, Yamada-san,” Eri bounded up towards the worried blond. “What’s wrong?”

“Eh?” Hizashi paused in his searching to look towards Eri. “What are you doing here?”

“This is were we appeared when we time-traveled again,” Eri answered, which resulted in Hizashi looking up to realize that Hitoshi was also there.

“Then why haven’t the UA alarms gone off? They’re supposed to do that if there’s anyone who doesn’t have access.”

“We both have IDs,” Hitoshi explained. “So that’s probably why.”

“Huh.”

“You still haven’t told us what’s wrong,” Eri interrupted. “Are you searching for something?”

“Kind of?” Hizashi answered. “I mean, it’s a little embarrassing, but I kind of lost a mixtape that I need for something…”

“Are you giving it to Aizawa-san?” Eri asked excitedly. “Are you telling him that you like him today?”

“W-what? How do you know about that?” Hizashi’s face went red.

“You looked at him the way Papa looks at Dad after he beat you up at the Sports Festival,” Eri explained, and Hizasi couldn’t really get any redder if he tried.

“Is it really that obvious?” Hizashi said in a surprisingly soft voice.

“Don’t worry, we’re here to help,” Hitoshi reassured. “Was your mixtape anything like this?”

Hitoshi pulled one of many duplicate mixtapes out of his bag and handed it to Hizashi who stared at it in doubt.

“Maybe? I wouldn’t really know unless I listened to it…” Hizashi took the mixtape regardless.

“I’ve got a radio,” Hitoshi pulled a small radio out of his bag.

“Why are you even carrying that with you?” Hizashi questioned.

“For this exact situation,” Hitoshi answered.

The put the mixtape in, and, after listening to it for a little bit and skipping through it, Hizashi was satisfied that the mixtape was pretty much identical to the one he had made for Shouta.

“Thank you so much!” Hizashi exclaimed. “Where did you even find this?”

“We didn’t,” Hitoshi said, and then Eri explained the situation.

“We knew you were going to lose it, so we brought a bunch with us just in case.”

“But how would you know the songs? And the exact order they’re in?”

“We’re from the future,” Hitoshi stated mysteriously. “Now, do you want some flowers or not? Because we have a bunch, and it wouldn’t be great for them to be smushed in our backpacks for the whole time we’re here.”

“I mean, I guess, sure?” Hizashi accepted the offering of flowers, now holding both the mixtape and a bouquet of carnations.

“Now your confession will be perfect!” Eri cheered, and Hizashi was once again stuck with a blush.

“Th-thank you, but, I have to ask, why do you two care about me confessing so much?”

The moment Hizashi asked that, Eri and Hitoshi were transported to a different spot on campus, this time an area where they found Shouta pacing back and forth.

“Uh, hi,” Hitoshi offered a small wave.

“Oh,” Shouta stopped his pacing to look up towards Hitoshi and Eri. “You two are here. What’s your mission this time around?”

“We’re here to make sure your confession goes well!” Eri blurted, and Shouta’s face went pink.

“What confession?” Shouta feigned ignorance. “I don’t even like anybody.”

“So you didn’t fall in love with Present Mic-sensei when he was listing off different names for a litter of kittens?”

Shouta’s cheeks soon went from pink to red before it suddenly went down.

“Wait, Present Mic-sensei?” Shouta asked. “When did Hizashi become a teacher?”

“Future,” Both Hitoshi and Eri said at the same time.

“So, he’s a pro hero and a teacher in the future?” Shouta questioned.

“And a radio show host!” Eri corrected, which caused a pleased smile to appear on Shouta.

“Of course he gets all his dream jobs.”

“And you’ve got to get your dream man,” Hitoshi teased.

“Yeah, we wouldn’t have been sent here if it wasn’t something important,” Eri added.

“So what do you need help with exactly in regards to your confession?” Hitoshi questioned.

Shouta took a few seconds to respond.

“I’m worried that it's not going to be extravagant enough for him,” Shouta admitted. “He’s so loud and attention-seeking and great, and he deserves a confession like that, but I’m not exactly the kind of person to go through with the kind of confession he deserves.”

“It doesn’t matter!” Eri claimed after listening to Shouta’s rambling.

“What?”

“It doesn’t matter!” Eri repeated. “He’ll love any confession you give him!”

Hitoshi nodded in agreement.

“He’ll just be ecstatic you like him back.”

“He likes me back?” Shouta breathed out quietly.

Hitoshi and Eri both nodded to confirm.

Shouta went through a state of shock for several minutes before calming down and acting in his usual demeanor.

“I still don’t want to show up to confess empty-handed though.”

Eri lit up and grabbed some chocolate from her bag.

“Here! Milk chocolate with strawberry chunks!” Eri exclaimed, handing it to Shouta, who took it and stared at it in surprise.

“How did you know that this is Hizashi’s favorite?”

“Future,” Hitoshi and Eri said. Shouta rolled his eyes.

“Of course. But why do you two even care so much about me and Hizashi getting together? Why are you coming to the past to do so?”

“That doesn’t matter. Just go confess to him,” Hitoshi stated, and then he and Eri were once more transported elsewhere.

This time, they were met with Shouta and Hizashi running into each other in front of the cherry blossom trees.

“Oh! Good morning, Shouta!” Hizashi greeted, awkwardly holding the bouquet of flowers that Eri gave to him in one arm so that he could wave with the other hand, with the mixtape hanging out of his pocket.

Shouta looked from side to side before practically shoving the chocolate towards Hizashi and running away. Hizashi managed to catch the chocolate, looking up and down in confusion, starting to run after Shouta when the mixtape in his pocket fell out and shattered onto the ground.

Hizashi swore.

“Don’t repeat that, Eri,” Hitoshi advised. “But this is what we brought the extra mixtapes for.”

Eri went up and handed Hizashi another mixtape.

“Go,” Eri ordered, and Hizashi bolted.

Eri and Hitoshi did their best to follow silently behind him.

Eventually, Hizashi managed to catch up to Shouta, which was no small feat, given how fast Shouta was. Hizashi had also managed to make sure Shouta didn’t move. He presented the flowers to Shouta.

“These...huff...are for, ah, you,” Hizashi panted out, out of breath from running.

“For me?” Shouta questioned, delicately taking the flowers once Hizashi confirmed. He had a pink tint that had nothing to do with the running.

“This too,” Hizashi handed Shouta the mixtape, but he fumbled and dropped it, and it, again, broke. “Not again!”

Eri trotted up behind Hizashi and handed him yet another mixtape.

“Oh, thank you, little listener!” Hizashi said. “Yeah, I...made you a mixtape. I hope you like it…”

Shouta was red as he accepted the mixtape.

“I like you!” Shouta blurted out, and then it seemed like the floodgates had opened. “You’re really smart, and a good teacher, and you’re always so optimistic even when everything is terrible, and you’re always there for me, and you’re really thoughtful, and I like your pretty green eyes, and I just really like you, Hizashi!”

Shouta suddenly froze, seemingly realizing what he had just said. Hizashi’s face was bright and red.

“I-I, I li-like you, too, Shouta,” Hizashi said, the confession comparatively much quieter.

“Yay!” Eri cheered, her hands shooting straight up. “We did it!”

That shocked both Shouta and Hizashi out of their confession high. They turned towards the siblings, as if suddenly remembering that the two of them were there.

“You’re boyfriends now, right?” Eri asked.

“I mean-” Hizashi choked and glanced over to Shouta. “If, if you want to be…”

“I do,” Shouta confirmed, and Hizashi gave him a blinding grin before turning towards Eri and Hitoshi with squinted eyes.

“Why did the two of you try so hard to get us together anyway?” Hizashi questioned, and Hitoshi could feel the sweat rolling down his back with the effort of not answering with the truth immediately.

“That’s future spoilers!” Eri declared, saving Hitoshi the embarrassment of blowing their whole operation.

“I see,” Hizashi was frowning, clearly disappointed by the lack of information but needing to accept what he was given regardless.

And, even if Eri and Hitoshi were inclined to offer more information, they found themselves unable to as they were transported back to where they began.

“-Then poof! You two showed up!” Hizashi continued his story. “If you two hadn’t shown up at all, I don’t know what Shouta and I would have done! We probably would have pined for years like fools!”

“Glad we prevented that,” Hitoshi said.

“Yeah! If you hadn’t gotten together, then who would’ve adopted us?” Eri pointed out.

“I would’ve still adopted you,” Shouta mentioned, and Eri pouted.

“But then we wouldn’t have Papa, and we wouldn’t be a family all together,” Eri paused for a moment. “And you love each other, and it would be sad if you hadn’t confessed.”

Hizashi nodded sagely.

“Yeah, it would have,” Hizashi then grinned. “But there’s no use in thinking about what could have been and focus on what we have! We’re a family, and nothing in the world is going to change that.”

The family found themselves in a group hug, and they found that they were happy.

“I love you all so much,” Eri said, and her family responded in kind.

Notes:

idk the logic behind this fic. if someone asks, it's a quirk. probably. w/e, it was fun to write, and i hope you all had a fun time reading it as well!

Notes:

Now I need more content of Eri and/or Hitoshi getting sent back in time and awkwardly interacting with their future fathers

Can you even imagine pining over someone only to find out that your daughter with them from the future had come to the past? Like, that's some sailor moon stuff right there. Although, if it were sailor moon stuff, it would be for training. Imagine that-getting sent to the past to train with the younger version of your parent.

Edit: inspired to write more of the erasermic kids going back in time to get their dads together
