Chapter Text
“You’re really pretty, y’know. Pretty and delicate.”
The king is sitting leisurely at his throne, twirling his finger around a small bunch of her long silken hair. It’s snow-white, contrasting to her brother’s stark black hair. No one knows why this is so. Why she’s different. It didn’t always used to be this way, but she only knows this through other people. She’s never seen her reflection since entering the castle.
She doesn’t struggle against her chains anymore when he tugs on her scalp, bones and muscles too weak and underdeveloped to properly move well. The metal around her limbs have basically become an extension of her body. She doesn’t yelp or scream for help either. She’s accepted her fate at this point.
“So useful,”
Her scratchy clothes were made from left-over hemp that even the castle servants discard. It burns her skin considerably when he pulls on the chain to move her even closer to his feet.
“unlike your brother. My little sorcerer.”
Who is her brother again? She can’t remember his face anymore, but she remembers his valiant spirit and caring hands. What was his name? Where had they lived before? It’s been so long since she’s stepped outside and felt the sun on her skin; the wind whipping against her face. The closest she gets is when the maids take pity on her blind and lame form, telling her stories of their childhoods.
Apparently she’s supposed to be 16. The king took everything 10 years ago. But since then, the lines have blurred to much for her to tell the difference.
She barely learned to read, but it doesn’t matter because she can’t see the print anyway. She gets showers every other day, because the king likes her skin and her hair, grown and groomed to be longer than her entire body at this point. Food is scarce, but she’s hardly got an appetite in the first place.
This is home for her now.
Home is with the king, who slaps her face red and raw until her famous bloody tears come streaming down her face. It stains her face, but the king gingerly wipes it away right after. It’s the price she had to pay for offering her sight for what powers she has now.
Home is with her uncle, whom she doesn’t even know as her uncle, but rather as an owner.
He takes her chin into his forefinger and thumb, forcing her to look up at him. She’s waiting for the day she can finally die. Her life has no purpose at this point- her existence is only there to be the king’s dog.
“Tell me where Yoongi is, darling, and I’ll see that your taken care of.”
That name is familiar. She doesn’t respond, because what else is there to say? There’s silence in the throne room right after, and she can feel the beginnings of a headache. Another premonition, maybe.
“Chaewon, my patience is waning thin. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to be kept waiting.” The king mutters. He lifts her entire face onto his knees, either getting her ready to be pet or to have her beaten. “Tell me.”
She still says nothing, but the headache continues to rage on.
He squeezes her cheeks with a harsh grip, bringing her closer to his marred face. “Fucking answer me you mutt, or I’ll personally gouge your eyeballs out.”
Yoongi. Yoongi. Yoongi.
“Y-yes, King.” She croaks, voice hoarse with disuse. She only speaks when she’s allowed to or expected to respond, otherwise she gets slapped until she cries. Crying makes her eyes burn excruciatingly.
His mouth was pressed into a hard-line, but he quickly switches it to a beaming smile. His calloused fingers stroke Chaewon’s scalp like she’s a cat. Her rubs and scratches, sometimes ripping out strands of her hair because it’s amusing. “Good. Good. Good. I’ll give you extra food tonight for being such a good little one.”
Empty promises. She doesn’t care anymore.
“Good. Good. Good.”
Yoongi. Yoongi. Yoongi.
“Focus on Yoongi, and tell me everything.” The king whispers gently, speaking to her in his baby-voice. “Everything.”
Something is telling her that Yoongi is different.
She doesn’t ask about it.

Yoongi whips his head behind him, stopping in the middle of crowded market streets. People bump into him left and right, but he stays rooted in his spot. A strange shiver runs down his spine, but it’s not because of the rain pouring down around them. It feels as if he’s been watched.
“Are you alright, hyung?” Namjoon asks, gripping the elder’s elbow with concern. Yoongi doesn’t space out very often.
“Yeah. Just,” he sharply inhales, frowning at the crowd and the stuffiness of the city, “just felt a little strange.”
He can’t shake the feeling.
The taller boy shrugs and tries to hurry over to Jimin, who’s picking up motor parts at another vendor. “Tell me if anything’s wrong though. It’s not likely, but it’s possible that someone found out about him.”
The pirate sighs and falls into step with the giant. He’s getting a migraine simply from thinking about the amount of yapping Hoseok does in a single day. “Don’t remind me about that royal pain the ass.”
They pass by a roast beef vendor, and the younger cranes his head to it excitedly. The older boy has to pull him away from the over-priced fuckers. They may have money, but Yoongi doesn’t want to waste it on some shady food business.
“Well to be fair,” Namjoon continues, “we did technically kidnap him. I’d probably be insufferable as well had I been in the same situation as him.”
Yoongi smacks the back of Namjoon’s neck with enough force to nearly make him topple onto the flooding streets. “You’re supposed to be helping me, not siding with the little shit.”
“I side with logic and reason—"
“Wait, wait, wait, wait.” He brings a hand up to interrupt Namjoon, a sense of worry overtaking him.
The brunette stops in his tracks and turns to the other boy curiously. “What?”
“You did make sure all the entrances were sealed, right?”
“Yes?” There's a twinge of uncertainty in his tone before he finalizes his answer. "Yes."
The blonde grimaces but leaves it alone. If the brat gets away, it’s none of his business anymore. If he gets killed that’s his fault.
Natural selection.
“That’s good enough, I guess.”
ANNOUNCEMENT
hello everyone! Again, I have taken a 3 month break oops but I'm here to say that I'm possibly going to take a longer break from fics altogether, especially in the BTS verse. I will try my best to pump out chapters, but I'm slowly losing the same interest in BTS i had a while back. I will still be here, but probably not as active in the BTS community as I have before. But feel free to chat with me, on tumblr or other platforms about BTS, JoJo (which i'm relatively new in, but have fallen into!) or anything else that might interest you. Thanks for supporting me and my works :)
