Chapter Text
Ever since he gained the ability to change back and forth between human and merman, Aiichiro had learnt to love the feeling of sand between his toes. It was so nice and soft, or at least it was on the beach by the palace, and it was largely the reason why they’d decided to have their wedding and reception on the beach.
That wasn’t the only reason why they’d had it here. The beach was where they’d first met, where Aiichiro had saved his life. It was only that they got married here.
The wedding was over now, and the newly wedded couple had been dancing for most of it, but now that the sun had almost completely set and the beach was alight with several torches, they were sat at the top table, Aiichiro’s bare feet in Rin’s lap, the two husbands feeding each other cake.
‘Is it good?’ Rin asked as he withdrew the fork from Aiichiro’s mouth.
The merman nodded. Ever since he’d got his voice back, Rin spent the first year of their relationship introducing him to new foods. His favourite was chocolate, and by extension, chocolate cake. ‘Really good,’ he said when he’d finished chewing.
‘I’m glad.’ The prince put the plate down on the table and massaged Aiichiro’s feet, his large hands sliding up the merman’s slender legs underneath the cool silk of his wedding dress. His husband wore a mixture of pants and dresses depending on his plans for the day. If he intended to be human all day, he would wear trousers, but if he was going to transform into a merman, he would wear a skirt. Because of that, Rin wasn’t sure what Aiichiro would be wearing when he came down the aisle, but he wasn’t disappointed in the slightest when he saw that his merman was wearing a dress. Aiichiro was always beautiful, and had seemed to grow even more so every day over the past two years, but he looked absolutely radiant today.
Aiichiro yawned and Rin chuckled. ‘Tired, princess?’
The merman nodded.
‘Do you want to go to bed?’ Rin asked and Aiichiro blushed at the implications of that.
‘Yes,’ he whispered.
With a shy smile, Rin slipped one arm under Aiichiro’s knees and the other behind his back and carried him across the beach and towards the palace. He had been courting Aiichiro for a year before he proposed, and as the wedding date got closer, he couldn’t help but think about this night on a regular basis. He was going to make this perfect for Aiichiro.
Makoto glared as he watched Rin carry his son off towards the palace, but Haruka just laughed from where he was led next to him, the two of them partially led in the water.
‘Don’t laugh,’ the ocean king said. ‘He’s going to defile our son!’
Haruka laughed even harder ‘You mean like you did to me on our wedding night?’
Makoto tried to glare at his queen but couldn’t. His mind couldn’t help but wander to that night. It had been incredible.
Haruka smirked when he saw the familiar look in his husband’s gentle eyes. ‘Do you want me again?’
‘You already know the answer.’
The two merman dove into the water and Gou smiled as she watched them, her head resting on Seijuro’s shoulder as they slow danced on the sand.
‘I can’t wait until our wedding,’ Seijuro whispered and Gou giggled. Their wedding would be in six months and they were both beyond excited.
‘Me, too.’
Seijuro’s hands slipped from Gou’s waist down to her hips. ‘If you look this amazing in your bridesmaid’s dress, then I can only imagine how you’ll look in your wedding dress. You’ll look absolutely breathtaking, darling.’
Gou giggled. ‘I think you’ll prefer me out of it afterwards, won’t you?’
Seijuro groaned. ‘Don’t do this to me.’
The princess giggled again and Momotarou rolled his eyes. He was sat by a rock pool that Rei and Nagisa were playing in, but he could still hear his brother’s conversation with Gou. He wasn’t allowed to talk this way with Sousuke since Seijuro always watched him.
But…
Momotarou smirked as he glanced over at his brother. He was thoroughly distracted by Gou. Now was his chance.
‘I have to go and do something.’
Nagisa stopped splashing water at Rei. ‘Why? Stay and help me terrorise Rei!’
‘Nagisa!’
Momotarou laughed. ‘I’ll see you tomorrow!’ He ran off down the beach then and found Sousuke just by where the torches stopped, led down and looking at the stars.
He looked up when he heard Momotarou coming and smiled. ‘Hey.’ The butler glanced over at where Seijuro was dancing. ‘Is it safe?’
‘I think so.’ Momotarou led down next to his boyfriend on the sand and Sousuke pressed a kiss to his temple before he wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
‘Do you know anything about the stars?’ the maid asked.
‘No. But they’re beautiful. Not as beautiful as you, though.’
Momotarou giggled and sat up. ‘You’re so cheesy.’
‘You love me really.’
‘Good job I do.’ Momotarou sighed and placed his hand on Sousuke’s chest. ‘I wish we could be like this all the time.’
‘And we will be able to soon. As soon as your brother gets married, he’ll be completely distracted with Gou, and then we can be together whenever we want.’ That wasn’t what Sousuke wanted to say. What he wanted to tell Momotarou is that he wanted to marry him, and then they truly would be able to be like this all the time. But he didn’t want to say anything yet, not until he had got Seijuro’s permission to propose. He didn’t want to give Momotarou false hope when there was still a chance that Seijuro could refuse even though he and Momotarou had been courting for three years now.
‘I hope so.’ Momotarou smiled. ‘Kiss me?’
Sousuke sat up, pulled his boyfriend onto his lap and kissed him, his hands resting on Momotarou’s thighs. Today, he was wearing a suit, but Sousuke kind of wished he was wearing his maid’s dress. The few times they had been able to kiss like this, Sousuke had slid his hands under the skirt. He hadn’t gone far, but it made Momotarou shiver and whimper in his lap.
Even so, the maid was plaint in his hands as they kissed, and Sousuke gave his thighs a squeeze as he pulled away.
‘We should stop,’ the butler said, his forehead resting against Momotarou’s but glancing over at Seijuro and Gou. They hadn’t noticed them, but Sousuke didn’t want to get Momotarou in trouble.
Momotarou pouted. ‘But we hardly ever get to do this.’
Sousuke glanced back over at Seijuro, then he stood up, picking his boyfriend up at the same time. ‘Be quiet, darling,’ he whispered, and then he ran, around the back of the sectioned off area for the reception, and then towards the palace.
The maid tried not to giggle and hid his head in Sousuke’s chest. They weren’t going to be doing what Rin and Aiichiro were doing tonight, but to have some time alone would be wonderful.
