Chapter Text
lately, jisoo has been really into football. it’s mainly because of chanwoo, who thought her how to play fifa when he was supposed to help her with her homework. she gets so into it that she begs jiwon to sign her up for classes, since it’s been her life long dream to become a football player.
jiwon agrees, just because he lover his daughter more than he loves anything else in the entire world. junhoe, on the other hand, isn’t quite as fond of the idea. not because he thinks jisoo isn’t fit for the sport, on the contrary, really. she has so much energy that only running around on a field for hours on end, chasing a stupid ball, could take her out. it’s the fact that he will have to meet with soccer moms that make him want to sign her up for hockey or basket.
when he voices his concearns to jiwon, however, he only gets an eye roll in response. “baby, you don’t have to interact with the parents there, you know?” jiwon says as he snuggles closer to the younger, trapping him on the couch.
“i know, but what if they try to poison my child because she is better at soccer than their child? you know i will kill those asses if they just so breathe near jisoo,” junhoe mumbles in the crook of jiwon’s neck, huffing when he hears his boyfriend hold back a laugh.
when he looks up at the elder, junhoe is met with a look that overflows with love and it takes every ounce of self-control not to ask jiwon to marry him this very moment. he has it planned, he can’t ruin the surprise just because jiwon looks adorable.
“i’ll take her to practice, but if martha or susan looks at her funnily, you’ll have to bail me out of jail for cutting a bitch’s tires.”
this time, jiwon fully laughs. “i hope you don’t meet a coach dad like rick or danny.”
“oh yes, a balding man will steal me from you, ji. you better start shaving your head.”
the elder presses a kiss onto junhoe’s head and stands up, heading straight to the bathroom. “what you must do for the one you love…” he says with a sigh.
junhoe just laughs, booming and annoying, and runs after his boyfriend.
jisoo is, for the lack of a better word, a prodigy when it comes to football. she wipes the floor clean with the other kids, and by the end of her first month of playing, she’s already been named the captain of her little team.
junhoe is stoked about it. he doesn’t even remember his worries about how karen will make his life hell for bringing his daughter here. he is so proud of her that he, himself, learns how to play it just to help her practice at home.
donghyuk notices this, and when he catches his friend looking up how to do tricks with the ball, that acts like the last straw.
“you hate actual sports, so tell me jun, how gone are you for this family to learn how to do trick shots with a dumb ball?”
“well… pretty fucking gone, i’d say.” junhoe closes his laptop and settles back next to his best friend. “i want to ask ji to marry me one day…”
donghyuk puts his phone away and gathers the younger in his arms, his hand rubbing circles on his back. “wait a bit more, ok? not because i think you’re not ready, but it’s better to know if he wants to get remarried as well. and besides, if he doesn’t, we can always steal jisoo and run away in france,” he says, adding a wink for dramatic effect.
junhoe rolls his eyes. “we’re not stealing jisoo, hyuk. not without taking pooh with us as well, ok?”
“can we take yunhyeong with us? that way we can finally be the poly couple i’ve dreamed of.”
junhoe agrees by pressing a kiss on donghyuk’s cheek.
junhoe yells so loudly jiwon has to cover his ears. jisoo, on the other hand, smiles excitedly in his direction before running after the ball again. her team needs one more point to win the match, but with only a few minutes left, it seems nearly impossible.
the man still screams and cheers, trying to send all his positive energy into his daughter in hopes that she will score the final goal. jiwon screams everytime jisoo touches the ball too, but his voice gets covered up by junhoe’s.
one minute left and jisoo is the one with the ball, running to the rival team’s goal. she’s faster than the rest of the kids, and with thirty seconds on the clock, she hits the ball as hard as she can.
junhoe stops breathing for a second, but then he’s yelling so much he will most likely lose his voice after.
his daughter, his beautiful, talented jisoo scored. he runs from the bleachers on the field, not caring about what anyone else may think. junhoe doesn’t even care if jiwon is behind him or not, right now the only thing he cares about is jisoo and how he needs to throw her in the air the same way dads do in cliche movies.
he doesn’t get to pick her up, because she jumps in his arms alone, shouting ‘papa! ’ and almost tackling him to the ground.
“you did amazing, baby. you’re the best player on the team by far, oh god, i’m so proud of you, papa loves you so much. i’ll take you to any place you want. you want to go to america and play for their women team? come on, baby, let’s pack our bags, you’ll be the best player the world has ever seen, you—”
“can we just get some crepes, papa?”
“of course, princess. anything you want.”
jiwon wraps his arms around them both, kissing them on the cheek. “good job, champ! june really did a great with his cheering, huh?”
jisoo nods, hair falling in her eyes. “papa did amazing! but it’s all thanks to my talent that i scored, appa!” jiwon looks at her, stunned, and for a moment he doesn’t say anything. junhoe can see the wheels spinning inside his head, but he can’t tell what he’s thinking of.
“come on,” jiwon says as he takes jisoo from junhoe’s arms, his hand slipping inside the younger’s without much thought, “let’s get some ice cream.”
“i want crepes, appa!”
