Chapter Text
The Winter Soldier doesn’t remember his past. But he’s constantly reminded.
He’ll see a pair of friends goofing off, he’ll kill someone who refuses to die, see a cartoon drawn in a certain style, and something in his brain clicks. This is important.
He doesn’t know why it’s important, doesn’t know what is important about it, but he knows that it is. He doesn’t know what he’s forgotten, doesn’t know why he’s distracted by these random inconsequential things, doesn’t understand the strange, deep, aching empty feelings that come out of nowhere.
And after the mission, his mind is wiped again, and forgets how again and again he failed to remember.
