It’s in the past now anyways and he likes living in the present.

In the present, where every Friday he and Yoongi still have their traditional movie nights that normally end with hot make out sessions in their bedroom.

Chapter Text

Jimin wakes up to the sun shining brightly through the window. Eyes squinting as they adjust to the sudden brightness, he looks up to find that there aren't any curtains covering the opening. He’s surprised he didn’t notice that yesterday, but then again he was merely trying to get warm from the rain. It makes sense that he didn’t notice much about the dorm room.

He’s curled up underneath the blanket from last night, warmth seeping through him. But he’s a bit too warm for his liking and throws it off of him trying to be as quiet as he can, because he doesn’t want to wake Yoongi up. Though a glance over to where Yoongi’s bed is supposed to be, reveals that he’s not even in it. He must be already awake.

Sitting up, Jimin groans in pain. His head is throbbing and even though he just woke up he wants to curl up underneath the blanket and fall asleep once again. He supposes, he did indeed stay out in the rain for far too long. Now, he was receiving the consequences for his actions.

He lays back down on the pillow, hand staying on his head as if he could cool himself down through the gloves he was wearing. Though he knows it’s impossible, it feels nice to attempt such a thing.

He wonders where Yoongi has taken off to. Wonders, if maybe he went out somewhere and just left Jimin here because he was asleep or if he was maybe currently in the restroom. But with Jimin’s pounding head he doesn’t feel like turning to check and see if the restroom door is closed. Yoongi will come back or out whenever he wants to. For now, Jimin will just try to get his headache to go away even if he doesn’t have any medicine or anything.

Though it doesn’t take long before a door is opening up. Jimin can’t distinguish which door it is. Restroom or front he’s not sure but he knows it’s one of them. “You’re awake.” Yoongi’s voice sounds loud to Jimin’s ears and he covers them taking his hand away from his forehead to do so. “Are you okay?” Now Yoongi’s voice comes across much softer and more worried.

Jimin slowly shakes his head, letting his hands fall from his ears beside him as he stares up at the ceiling. “I stayed out too long last night,” He speaks up quietly. Even his own voice sounds too loud for his headache. “I don’t feel good.”

Yoongi walks up closer until he’s at the foot of the bed staring at Jimin from where he stands. There’s a small frown on his face, eyebrows creased in worry as he hums thinking for what feels like minutes. “I have to go to the store anyways to get some things for breakfast. While I’m out I’ll get you some medicine, okay?”

“You don’t have to.” Jimin is quick to say, pushing himself up until he’s sitting on the bed rather than laying down in it. “I should probably go back to my dorm room soon anyways. I don’t want you to get sick because of me.”

“It’s fine,” Yoongi’s smile returns to his face. Jimin likes it when he smiles if he’s being honest. It makes Yoongi look brighter, happier. “Besides, it’s raining outside still and even if your dorm is nearby you shouldn’t go out in it. I’ll take care of you. Don’t worry. We can stay in and just watch more movies until you’re better.”

“Are you sure though?” Jimin asks letting his hands rest in his lap. He stares at Yoongi curiously. He wonders what colour Yoongi’s eyes are. What colour the shirt he’s wearing is. What colour everything in his room is. He wonders what colour is again. “You don’t have class or work today?” He doesn’t want to be the reason Yoongi missed class or work. They’re both important and missing one could be bad.

“I have work,” Yoongi answers honestly rubbing the back of his head. Jimin wants to open his mouth and tell Yoongi that he should go, but before he can Yoongi is continuing his sentence, “But if I call Seokjin and tell him what’s going on he’ll let me off for the day. I’ll just cover someone else’s shift. It’s no problem really. I would rather take care of you than let you be by yourself right now.”

“You care so much about me already and we only just became friends. Why?” Jimin asks before he thinks the question through in his head. His mouth does a lot of talking for him. But he is curious. After all, according to Yoongi they just became friends last night. He didn’t expect Yoongi to care so much about him within roughly twelve hours already.

Yoongi purses his lips together, another small and quiet hum escaping him. It takes a few moments of silence between the two of them before Yoongi says, “When you meet a baby or an animal you instantly care about them, right? Whether you’ve known them one second, one hour, one day or one year. You care about things almost immediately. And I care about you Jimin. So let me take care of you.”

Jimin stares at Yoongi in shock, taken aback by the elders' words. He’s not sure what to say in response to that so instead of saying anything at all he merely nods his head and scoots forward on the bed to lay down once more. He’s not exactly sure how long it’ll take until Yoongi comes back so for now all he can do is hope to sleep until his return. Maybe he’ll feel a little bit better by the time he comes home.

“I’ll be back soon, Jimin.” He hears Yoongi say as he closes his eyes and turns away from the window. The bright sunlight threatening to keep him awake when all he needs right now is a proper rest. Jimin lets out a soft hum of acknowledgement listening to the front door open and close. And shortly after that he manages to fall asleep once again.

A while later, Jimin wakes up to the smell of coffee being brewed. He opens his eyes slowly to see Yoongi standing beside his mini refrigerator playing around with a coffee mug and a tiny bottle of creamer. A small cough escapes Jimin as he pushes himself to sit up catching Yoongi’s attention.

“Hey,” he says quietly walking over to his own bed and digging through a plastic bag. Jimin watches him curiously, bringing the blanket tightly around himself to keep warm. He feels like he’s freezing right now and even with the blanket secured around him it doesn’t offer any warmth.

Jimin hates being sick. Hates not being able to do anything because his body is so weak. So useless for the time being. Hates that all he can do is rest and pray that the next day he feels better enough to do whatever it is he needs to do.

“When did you get back?” He asks as Yoongi comes over to him with a small bottle of medicine. Jimin takes one look at it and frowns. He also hates taking medicine. It never tastes good whether it’s a liquid or not. He dreads taking it even if he knows that he needs it in order to get better.

“Not long ago.” Yoongi answers setting the medicine beside Jimin on the bed before turning around to grab another cup to pour water into. “I was gone for a little over an hour. I tried not to wake you but it seems I failed in that aspect. Sorry about that.”

Jimin shakes his head, and offers a small but sincere smile towards Yoongi. “It’s fine. Don’t worry about it. If I’m just resting today I’ll end up falling asleep again at some point.” He explains eyes following Yoongi as he picks up a white plastic cup and pours water into it. “Thank you for taking care of me today. You really didn’t have to. But it means a lot.”

Yoongi smiles at that, “I called Seokjin already and informed him I won’t be coming in. So you don’t have to worry about me missing work or anything. All you have to worry about is getting better.” He brings over the cup of water and holds it out for Jimin to take. Once Jimin takes the cup from him, he turns around and walks towards the restroom appearing a few moments later with a thermometer in his hand. “I just want to check your temperature to see what we’re dealing with.”

Nodding his head, Jimin lets Yoongi take his temperature. He sits there patiently unmoving - unbreathing - as Yoongi presses the thermometer to his temple just waiting for it to beep and tell them whether he has a fever or not.

It feels like it takes an entire century before it finally does go off. Jimin relaxes as Yoongi pulls it away, reading over what it shows on the screen. “You definitely have a fever. So after you take this medicine just lay down some more and rest. I won’t be going anywhere since I have homework to do so if you need me I’ll be on my bed or at my desk, okay? I also got some things you can eat if you get hungry so don’t hesitate to ask me.”

Jimin picks up the bottle of medicine and reads over the instructions on how much to take. He nods his head to Yoongi who eventually turns away to put the thermometer back before finally finishing up his coffee. Figuring out the dosage, Jimin opens up the bottle after carefully setting the cup of water on the table beside him. Then he takes the recommended amount of medicine and leaves that too on the table, where it’ll be if he needs it later on in the day.

He watches as Yoongi finishes making his coffee and puts it on his desk opening his laptop up so he can begin his homework. It doesn’t take long for Jimin to fall asleep again. Doesn’t take long for his mind and body to relax and off to dreamland he goes.

“Oh. You’re working today?” Jimin asks surprised as he enters the café the next Wednesday. He immediately notices Yoongi standing at the counter waiting to do something. He’s just standing there, leaning against the counter for support staring down at the white marbling.

Jimin hadn’t expected to see him here. Figured that maybe he’d be at home or somewhere else. After all, it isn’t in Yoongi’s normal schedule to work on Wednesday’s. He normally has them off.

Yoongi looks up almost immediately eyes blown wide like a deer caught in the headlights during the middle of the night. He smiles fondly when he sees it’s just Jimin speaking to him and relaxes. “Yup. Seokjin-Hyung had me take a shift today to make up for the weekend.”

Jimin hums in understanding, hand coming up to card through his hair. “Sorry about that. Because of me now you’re stuck working today when you could have been home relaxing or something.” Jimin frowns a little still feeling a bit bad that he got sick over the weekend and had to have Yoongi take care of him.

“I don’t mind,” Yoongi shakes his head offering a sincere smile. “I told you didn’t I? I rather take care of you and make sure you’re healthy than stand and work for hours at a time. So seriously don’t worry about it. I only have a few hours left in my shift anyways. I’ll be out soon.”

“Ah,” Jimin nods his head, a smile faintly pulling at his lips, as his gaze averts from Yoongi to the menu. “I think I’ll try something new today. Let me have an Americano.”

“You’re ordering my favourite.” Yoongi chimes, punching away at the register clicking what Jimin just ordered. “I can promise you they’re amazing. I get them a lot during my breaks since they keep me energized for the rest of the shift.”

“Really?” Jimin reaches into his backpack after taking it off his shoulders and grabs out his wallet for some cash to give to Yoongi for the coffee. “I’ll let you know how I think about it then.”

“You do that,” Yoongi agrees as the front door chimes signaling another customer has come in. Jimin scoots to the side a bit as he gets his change back from Yoongi before heading over to his normal seat so the next customer can be taken care of.

Once again Jimin is doing English homework. And part of him is beginning to dread the thought of it. But it needs to be done. He can’t let it sit and be uncompleted. Procrastinating and Jimin never got along so even if he doesn’t like what he has to do he’s still going to do it.

He plops down in one of the chairs, setting his backpack on the chair beside him and pulls out his books, notebook and assignments. Luckily, there isn’t a lot that he has to do today. So it shouldn’t take him too long but he doesn’t want to say that out loud in case he jinxes himself.

Jimin flips open his notebook first to the page with notes he took in last class. The page number that his homework correlates to is written in the top right corner - a thing he always does, because he always uses his notes. Opening his book up, he flips to that page and then grabs his assignment. More grammar stuff he has to do. Just great.

Jimin hates grammar.

He’s going through the book, reading through the examples and explanations trying to see if they’ll be able to help him out. The book is quite detailed in what you’re supposed to do, how you use it, and when to use the certain grammar characters. But using that knowledge and actually doing the problems himself isn’t as easy as the book makes it out to be.

Figuring the first problem is the easiest. Maybe because it’s number one and it should be, but Jimin is glad he could understand that much. Glad that he knows where to put a period and start a new sentence in English. He’s sure he’s right anyways.

His coffee comes a few minutes later. A medium Americano delivered by none other than Yoongi himself. Jimin offers him a sincere smile when he puts it on the table, but then he also places a sandwich next to it as well.

“Here you go.” Yoongi says, moving around the table and sitting across from Jimin. He realizes then that Yoongi brought over a whole tray with two coffees and the sandwich.

“I didn’t order a sandwich.” Jimin looks at the sandwich confused then gives the same look to Yoongi. “Did you bring it to me by accident?”

Yoongi shakes his head, reaching out for one of the Americanos. He picks up a straw beside it, unwraps it and inserts it through the cover. “Nope.” He smiles, “I’m on my lunch break finally so I got a sandwich but I ate a big breakfast. And seeing as you didn’t get your normal sandwich I got one for you. I hope that’s okay?”

As if wanting to answer on its own, Jimin’s stomach growls in response to Yoongi’s question. He flushes hiding his face in his homework, not meeting Yoongi’s eyes. He definitely is hungry. He didn’t grab his card this morning before he left the house instead only having the money in his wallet so he couldn’t get a sandwich like he wanted.

“Thank you,” Jimin says quietly lifting his head up to get his own coffee and pull the sandwich a bit closer to him so he can start eating it. “How long is your lunch break?”

“About thirty minutes,” Yoongi replies leaning back in his chair looking out the window. The sky is finally starting to get brighter. The storm from over the weekend is finally passing through, so now it’s no longer raining. Jimin is glad for that. Even though he loves the rain he could go without it right now. “What are you working on?”

Jimin lifts half the sandwich, moving closer so any crumbs or anything falls on the tray or plate rather than the table itself. “What do you think?” He asks before taking a bite of the sandwich. He lets out a soft moan at the taste of the food. He’s so hungry right now and this sandwich is just perfect.

Yoongi laughs at him, bringing a hand to cover his face as he chuckles. “From your reaction I can only assume it’s English.” He says before leaning over the table to look at what Jimin is actually working on.

Jimin picks up a napkin from the tray and uses it to wipe at his face. Then he pulls the Americano closer and takes a sip of it before smiling. “This is so good.” He exclaims, motioning to the cup. “I can see why you get it so often.”

“I told you,” Yoongi nods his head, shifting around in his chair for a moment before resting his hands on the table. “You should get it more often. Sometimes we have specials going on for it because it’s our most popular item on the menu.”

“Is it really?” Jimin looks at Yoongi in shock, “I’d assume it’s the lattes that are the most popular. I’m surprised.”

“So were we. We didn’t expect so many people to like them but what do you know?” Yoongi shrugs. He brings his own Americano up to his lips and lets the straw rest there. “They’re easy to make and carry around so I guess that makes sense. Plus we’re on a campus and people need energy. Maybe that’s why.”

“Maybe.” Jimin agrees, setting the coffee aside to take another bite of the sandwich. He knows he should be doing his work right now instead of chatting away with Yoongi, but he also knows he’s going to get aggravated with it anyways so having this brief period of relaxing is nice.

“Do you need help on your homework?” Yoongi asks as if he’s read Jimin’s mind and can tell he’s thinking about it. “I’m not the best at grammar but I think I can help you out a bit if you’d like?”

Jimin sets the sandwich down on the plate again. He turns to look at his homework, picking up his pencil to read over the directions once again. Honestly, it might be best if he does accept Yoongi’s help. If he lets the elder teach him and explain what he’s doing in a way he’ll understand.

Yoongi probably doesn’t have a lot of time on his break left and yet he wants to help Jimin out. He smiles faintly at that, grateful that Yoongi is here right now to do such a thing. He nods his head, turning the book sideways for them both to read before passing the assignment over to Yoongi so he could get an idea of what he’s helping out with.

“It’s definitely not something easy.” Yoongi hums, as he sets the paper down and looks towards Jimin. “But don’t worry. I’ll explain it for you. I think you’ll be able to understand it afterwards.”

“Hoseokie-hyung!” Jimin cries entering the dance studio a few days later. More times than not Hoseok is in the dance studio either training the other dancers, practicing with Jeongguk, or making a new choreography. Today though, it seems Hoseok is alone for the meantime. Whether that means class is over or it hasn’t started yet is beyond Jimin. He’s not sure what the schedule for them is.

Hoseok is in the middle of dancing when he arrives, and instead of being impatient trying to get his attention immediately Jimin moves to the back of the room and watches from afar as he dances. He always finds enjoyment in watching Hoseok dance. In watching Jeongguk dance. It’s like it lights a chain of fire in them both. They’re both overly passionate about it and Jimin is glad for that.

It reminds him of gardening. Dancing to Hoseok and Jeongguk is what gardening is to Jimin. But it’s not the same anymore.

While dance can be displayed without the use of colours, flowers aren’t always as pretty without theirs. They aren’t as wonderful and magical if you can’t see the actual colour they’re supposed to be. Sure, Jimin has a few flowers that are white. A few flowers which’s actual beauty Jimin can see, but he can’t witness the reds or yellows anymore. He can’t see the roses or the sunflowers. And he misses it.

The music slowly fades out and with it Hoseok slowly stops dancing until he’s just staring straight at the mirror breathing heavily as he tries to catch his breath. He places his hands on his hips leaning over for a second before walking towards the back where his bag lies and grabs his water bottle. He gives a quick wave to Jimin who returns it and stands up.

“Hey Jiminie,” Hoseok says after taking a drink and setting his water bottle beside his bag once again. “What’s up? You don’t come visit the studio often. Are you here to try out a dance? Or is there something else on your mind?”

“No, it’s um…” Jimin rubs the back of his head realizing now as he stands in the studio how silly and stupid his actual reasoning for coming is. He laughs awkwardly staring down at the ground, “I actually had a question for you. But it’s kind of weird and I honestly could have texted you for it.”

“What’s up?” Hoseok tilts his head in confusion staring at Jimin as if he could read his mind but not really.

“I was wondering...since you’re Yoongi’s best friend if you could give me his number?” He says, clasping his hands together in front of him. He nibbles at his bottom lip waiting for a response from the elder.

What he gets though is a laugh, “Wait wait. I’m sorry. You and Yoongi are friends and have been for over a week and you don’t have his number yet? Isn’t that one of the first things you get beside their name?”

Jimin flushes at the comment feeling like he’s back at Hoseok’s party once again when he said something similar to them not knowing each other’s names. Leave it to Hoseok to do the teasing in the friendship.

“Of course I’ll give you his number,” Hoseok squats down in front of his bag and grabs out his phone messing with the lockscreen to open it up. Jimin untangles his hands and grabs his own phone out from his pocket quickly going over to the Contact section and making a new one.

Hoseok turns his phone over for Jimin to read the numbers and he quickly inserts them into his phone titling the contact ‘Yooni-Hyung’ and not realizing it until after it’s already saved. But he finds the nickname a bit cute so he doesn’t bother going and adding the missing ‘g’.

“Thank you, Hyungie.” Jimin sing-songs, locking his phone once again. He watches as Hoseok nods his head and walks closer towards the front of the room to stand in front of the mirror. Jimin can only guess he’s about to dance again.

“I’ll tell you this much, Jimin.” Hoseok says stopping in the center of the room. “Yoongi is a good and caring guy. You’ll like him I’m sure of it. So don’t be afraid, okay?”

Jimin isn’t sure what Hoseok means by that, but he doesn’t question it. Or rather, Hoseok doesn’t give him time too before he’s walking to the laptop and starting the music up again letting it play loudly through the speakers.

He only nods his head in response as he walks to the door to leave waving at Hoseok real quick. He waits until he’s outside of the studio, until he can no longer hear the loud music playing on the speakers as the door clicks shut before he unlocks his phone once again and sends a message to Yoongi.

To Yooni-Hyung:

Hey Hyung, it’s Jiminie. I got your number from Hoseokie-Hyung. I hope that’s okay!

From Yooni-Hyung:

It’s fine ^^ I meant to ask you for it on Wednesday when we were working on your English work but I forgot. ;-; Good thing we have mutual friends.

Jimin laughs at that. Good thing indeed.

From Yooni-Hyung:

Good morning Jimin! I hope you have a good day in class today. I’ll probably be at the café all day today. If you’re free you should come by during my break. It’s always better when you’re there.

From Yooni-Hyung:

Good morning Jiminie! Hobi told me they’re planning to go out for dinner tonight. Do you want to come with me? I don’t wanna go by myself ;-; and I already know Hoseok is gonna make me fourth wheel because he has Seokjin-Hyung and Namjoonie going too.

From Yoonie:

Good morning Minnie!!!! I was wondering, since it’s been a few weeks now since we had our first little movie day when you were sick. Do you want to come over tonight and have another one? I can pick up a few snacks after class gets out.

I was thinking maybe we could do it every week you know? I enjoy watching movies and having someone to do it with makes it even better. :)

Oh wait, you’re probably in class right now! Whoops :P Silly me. Text me after class. Don’t get sidetracked.

To Yoonie:

Sure! :) A movie night sounds wonderful. I’ll bring some drinks over with me when I come. I could use a relaxer.

Also I wasn’t in class. I was with Taehyung and Jeongguk third wheeling while they gushed over stuffed animals at the mall they could buy one another because it reminded them of each other.

Jimin pockets his phone as he looks back up at Taehyung and Jeongguk who are still going through the aisles of stuffed animals trying to say who looks like who. They remind him of small children trying to find candy that they really want, or come Christmas time when they see all the toys they want to add onto their lists for Santa. He lets out a small sigh, regretting his choice of coming. He knew he’d be a third wheel anyways.

Part of him kind of wants to ask Yoongi to come and pick him up so they can begin their movie night early. Or rather, Jimin should just call it a movie day at this rate because the last time they had one of these that’s all they did.

It’s been quite a few weeks now since Yoongi and Jimin have become friends. And more times than not they’re hanging out with each other if neither of them is busy. It just happens to help out that Yoongi is on the floor below Jimin so he’s within walking distance unlike Taehyung and Jeongguk.

Yoongi is definitely a nice guy. Someone that Jimin enjoys spending time with and finds himself wanting to spend even more and more, as their friendship becomes stronger. Sometimes if he’s struggling with his English work he’ll head down to Yoongi’s dorm and have him help out, or if he’s lucky and Yoongi is working the same day he normally goes to the café and gets help there.

Sometimes Jimin will just goes over to Yoongi’s dorm and relaxes on the couch-like bed while Yoongi does his schoolwork. They don’t talk or anything, the silence is filling enough, just being with Yoongi is something that Jimin enjoys.

Part of Jimin is a bit surprised by their friendship. When Yoongi first bumped into him almost two months ago he hadn’t expected anything of it. He didn’t expect them to continue to keep meeting. He didn’t expect Hoseok to be his best friend. And he didn’t expect them to become friends after all of it.

Sometimes he thinks about Yoongi’s words. About how it’s fate that they kept meeting. Fate that they were supposed to become friends.

Jimin wonders if that’s really true.

Were they destined to become friends with one another?

“I’m beginning to wonder whether this is a couch or if it’s your bed.” Yoongi says as Jimin immediately takes his place lying on the couch-like bed. It’s his favourite spot in the whole dorm, but maybe that’s because it’s the only piece of furniture he’ll sit on. He doesn’t like sitting in the desk chairs - they’re far too uncomfortable for him - and he doesn’t sit on Yoongi’s bed because that’s his space.

“It must be my bed,” Jimin beams rolling up in the blanket. He giggles at himself looking towards Yoongi who only shakes his head and picks up his laptop.

Jimin unrolls himself from the blanket quickly, making sure to fix it so it’s neat once again for Yoongi to sit down next to him on the couch. It is a bit unfortunate that they don’t have a television in their dorm rooms. It would make their movie nights a lot easier if they could both relax comfortably on their beds just staring at big tv screen rather than huddling up around a small computer screen.

But it works for them so Jimin doesn’t mind that much honestly. Besides, a lot of the time they spend more moments talking over the movie rather than watching what’s actually playing. Sometimes, they’re making little comments about what’s happening or they’ll crack jokes about something else. Either way, it’s perfect for the two of them. And it makes coming over here to experience that even better.

As Yoongi gets comfortable on the couch and begins clicking around on his laptop to pull up some movies, Jimin slides off the bed and goes up to the desk where their bags of snacks and candies are waiting. He grabs both the bags, surprised by how much Yoongi actually got and brings them over to the bed. He would rather not have to get up again during the movie because he ends up craving something else.

There’s sour candies, chocolates, and chips stuffed into two bags. It’s definitely enough to keep them full all day until they decide to eat actual food once again. But Jimin knows they won’t until around midnight probably. For some reason they always have a thing to order food late in the night when they’re together.

“What movie were you thinking about watching?” Jimin asks, tilting his head as he climbs into the couch with the bags of snacks and places them beside him. The movie night was so sudden Jimin isn’t sure at all what they’re going to be watching. He reaches into the bag and grabs out one of the sour candy packs to start munching on even before starting the film.

“Have you seen that new Aladdin movie?” Yoongi asks, tilting his head to the side as he clicks away at the keyboard typing in something. “I heard from Seokjin it’s amazing and even though we can’t see all the colours portrayed in it I still feel like it’d be an interesting movie to watch. I’ve seen the original movie anyways so I’m curious how related they are to one another.”

Jimin lets out a hum, ripping at the seam of the bag to open up the candy already. He smiles in victory as he gets it opened and plucks out a blue raspberry sour bite to eat first. “I’ve heard about it. It sounds good and the soundtrack is good. There’s one song from it I listen to a lot. I’m excited to see that one in the actual movie.”

Yoongi nods his head as he clicks on the keyboard once more before moving the laptop to sit between the two of them adjusting the screen until they can both see it well. “I’ll let you pick the next movie after this then. Have any ideas?”

“Have you seen ‘The Greatest Showman’?” Jimin asks, taking another sour candy out. This time it’s the green apple one. It’s definitely not his favourite of the three flavours. He would prefer eating the Strawberry ones over these but he doesn’t want them to go to waste and doesn’t know whether Yoongi likes them or not.

“Hoseok always asks me to watch it with him but I haven’t yet. We’re hardly ever free on the same days to do anything fun like that. And whenever we are Hoseok ends up planning something else to do instead.” Yoongi admits with a laugh, shaking his head at the thought. “I’m guessing you and I are gonna watch it next, aren’t we?”

“We definitely are.” Jimin nods his head in confirmation, a bright smile forming on his face at that. “It’s my favourite movie, so now, I’ve got to show it to you. It’s a good thing you haven’t watched it with Hoseokie-hyung yet.”

“Even if I had I still would have watched it again for you. It’s your favourite movie.” Yoongi shrugs, reaching in front of Jimin for the bag of snacks to get himself one as well. Jimin watches as he looks through them before ultimately deciding on a small can of Pringles that he purchased. The Sour Cream and Onion flavoured ones. Jimin shakes his head at the can. He hates that flavour. He doesn’t understand how anyone can eat it and like it.

Jimin lets out a hum in response as the movie begins playing in front of them. He scoots forward a bit until he’s comfortable himself, one hand inside of the candy bag to continue eating them. He stares at the screen intensely curious as to how the movie is going to start.

For the entirety of the beginning of the movie Jimin doesn’t realize Yoongi hasn’t been paying attention. Instead, Yoongi’s only been staring at Jimin.

Jimin hates English. It should be a known fact by now for everyone he knows including his English teacher. It’s the one class he hates the most. The one class he wishes he could continually skip and not worry about it affecting his grade. But unfortunately life doesn’t work that way.

It’s too late in the year to drop the class now. He’s learned far too much and even if he attempted to drop the class it would only have a bad outcome for his transcripts and he could use without that. He doesn’t have the best grade in the class, definitely not what he could have if he liked the class a bit more but it’s still passing and that’s what matters to Jimin.

In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his final grade in the class is as long as it’s a passing one. Now, it’s the least of his concerns.

He’s aggravated and annoyed with the class. He doesn’t understand how the others understand it so well. He knows he’s not dumb. Knows that he’s actually quite smart. It’s just English giving him a hard time.

Maybe it’s the way his professor teaches. He’s starting to realize that he never understands anything when she explains it but come Taehyung or Yoongi trying to teach it and he gets it. Maybe that’s what he needs in order to keep him from actually failing. He just needs Yoongi and Taehyung to help him out the rest of the semester.

That shouldn’t be too bad right? The English class only meets twice a week and the semester ends in two months. Considering he now goes to Yoongi’s house every Friday for a movie day maybe they can fit it in there somewhere.

He sighs loudly. Hands coming up to cover his face instead of looking down at the English textbook in front of him. It’s around ten at night already and Jimin has been working on this assignment since around eight. He’s annoyed and he doesn’t want to do it anymore.

So he doesn’t. He pulls his hands from his face and closes the book after stuffing it with the handouts. He places his notebook on top of the book and picks up his backpack to put them inside. He’ll worry about it later. He just...he needs a break right now.

Jimin stands up from his desk quickly, hands reaching out for his chair as it begins falling back. It’s late right now he doesn’t need to make too much noise and wake anyone up. He walks over to his bed and picks up his phone from his nightstand. He left it there so he wouldn’t be tempted to use it while doing his homework but seeing as he gave up on that it doesn’t matter now.

He’s not sure what compels him to do such a thing, or why Yoongi is the first person that comes to mind but soon enough his hands are swiping to Yoongi’s contact and hitting dial.

It rings for a few moments and Jimin briefly thinks that maybe Yoongi already went to bed which would be surprising unless he’s got work early in the morning. But then he ends up picking up and Jimin lets out a small breath.

“Jimin?” Yoongi says as soon as he answers, “What’s wrong? You never call this late.”

Jimin laughs at that, shaking his head, “Is it that obvious that something is wrong?” He questions plopping down onto his bed. He lays on his back staring up at the dull white ceiling above him. He sighs, “I’m just stressed. I need a break.”

Yoongi hums on the line and a moment later Jimin can hear shuffling. Almost like Yoongi has gotten up from wherever it is that he’s sitting or relaxing. “Are you at your dorm right now?”

“I am,” Jimin nods though he knows Yoongi can’t see it. It’s just a habit at this point. “Why do you ask?”

“Put your shoes on. We’re gonna go out.” Yoongi answers. He can hear what sounds like Yoongi’s front door being opened and then shut behind him. Well, he didn’t waste any time at all.

“But it’s late.” Jimin comments pushing himself to sit up. Even though he says that he still finds himself walking towards his own door and finding his shoes. He’s currently in pajamas. A pair of sweats and a dark jacket, but he doesn’t change. He doesn’t find it necessary. “Are you sure you want to go out?”

“Of course!” Yoongi is quick to confirm, “You’re stressed so I’m gonna take you out somewhere. Don’t worry we aren’t going anywhere crowded or anything. Just to a little place I like going to when I’m stressed myself. Are your shoes on? I’m almost outside.”

Jimin, once again, nods his head. He has to tie his shoes so he lets his phone sit on the ground for a moment as he crouches down and ties the laces. Then he stands back up, grabs his phone and opens his front door.

When he opens it and steps outside he’s surprised to see Yoongi already standing out there with his own phone pressed to his ear. “You really were almost here.” Jimin laughs, taking the phone down and ending the call. He smiles fondly at Yoongi, closing the door behind him as he walks closer to him. He doesn’t bother to lock his dorm up, it’s unlikely anyone would go in there. And he doubts they’ll be out long. “Where are we going anyways?”

“You see the sky.” Yoongi says, lifting his hand up to point upwards to the sky. “Do you see all the stars?”

Jimin looks up. He does see them all. All of them in their bright shining beauty. “Yes. But why?”

“We’re gonna watch them,” Yoongi answers with a smile. “But not here. The campus lights intervene with them. I know the perfect place where we can stargaze. That’s where we’re going. It helps me relax sometimes. It might help you too.”

Jimin only hums in response, following along after Yoongi as he climbs down the set of stairs once again until they are at the first floor. A shiver goes through Jimin as a small breeze picks up and he hugs his jacket closer to him, tightly, as if it could offer more support to keep him warm.

It’s quiet right now and Jimin loves it. No overly loud students chatting amongst their friends talking about the party they want to go to, or the person they want to hit up, or anything like that. There’s no one to tell them they should be in their dorms rather than out walking around. And there’s no one to bother them.

It’s peaceful. It’s something Jimin wishes he had the opportunity to have more of but he doesn’t.

It’s dark too. The lights from the post lamps aren’t too bright. They don’t offer a lot of lighting to the areas around them and they aren’t lined up closely together. Most areas are pitch dark while others merely have a small circle of light from the lamp. But Yoongi and Jimin can see where they’re going perfectly fine. Or rather, Jimin can see Yoongi perfectly fine and Yoongi knows where they’re going.

Unlike what Jimin originally thought, they don’t head towards the parking lot. Now that Jimin thinks about it he doesn’t hear any keys on Yoongi anyways. They definitely weren’t driving anywhere. So did that mean they were walking to their destination? Or did Yoongi have other plans in mind?

“We aren’t driving?” Jimin decides to voice his concerns, glancing back towards the parking lot where he had thought they were going. He figured they would be driving somewhere. He watches from behind as Yoongi shakes his head no, “How are we getting there then?”

“We’re walking.” Yoongi answers glancing back at him. He slows down a bit until he and Jimin are walking at the same pace together. “We aren’t going far. We'll still be on campus so I don’t see the point in driving somewhere.” He extends his hand out pointing to a clearing on a hill. There’s no trees or lights or anything blocking their view. It’s just a small patch of grass that’s part of the school’s property. “We’re going over there. It’s the perfect spot for us to stargaze.”

Jimin lets out a breath of awe, taking prideful strides as they walk closer and closer towards the field. It definitely would be a waste to try and drive closer especially because it’s in a no parking zone anyways. Yoongi would have to park in the same parking lot even if he tried to leave it.

He knows of the clearing but he’s never been to it. Most people more often than not use it when they’re working in groups on homework. Jimin has passed by it quite a few times to see people hanging out, doing work, or just relaxing there. But Jimin would much rather spend time inside than out.

Except for right now. Right now he spends his time outside. There’s some things in life he would miss if he stayed cooped up inside anyways. And the stars would be one of them.

Jimin is glad it’s late when they’re going out. One, because they need the night sky to see the stars. And two, because the field is completely empty. Most people are either at home, in their dorms, at a party or somewhere completely different than here and Jimin is glad for that.

His sweats don’t cover the bottom of his legs completely so as they enter the field he feels the grass against his skin. It’s cool, cold almost from the breeze that sweeps them up and sends them flying in the wind. And though it tickles a bit Jimin doesn’t say anything about it.

“Here we are,” Yoongi says, stretching his arms to show off the field for Jimin to see. But there’s nothing there except for the openness and the grass. It’s not something that’s too eventful but Jimin is happy to be there nonetheless. “The place where all stress vanishes.”

Jimin laughs at that comment continuing to follow Yoongi as he walks through the field a little bit until he’s in what looks to be the center. Then he crouches down before he’s laying on his back staring up at the sky. Jimin walks around him, sitting down on Yoongi’s right side to lay down as well.

“Wow,” Jimin says awe-struck as his eyes land on the sky. Even though he can’t see the wonderful colour anymore he still has the memories of what they once were. Of how they looked through his eyes. Of the dark blues and the very, very light yellow almost white stars. He remembers the moon that looked either yellow or white depending on the day.

He remembers the colour of the sky.

And even though everything is black and white once again, the sky is still as beautiful as ever.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Yoongi asks, startling Jimin. For a moment he had been so focused on the sky that he had even forgotten Yoongi was with him. Jimin laughs a little, awkwardly before nodding his head, hair shifting under him as it brushed against the grass. “I came out here once after Hoseok and I got into an argument during our first year of college. I can’t remember what it was about now though, but it was pretty bad. But anyways, I ended up coming to this field and just staring at the stars.” Yoongi smiles fondly at the memory, bringing his hands up and under his head so he can lay on them. “I don’t remember how long I was here but I eventually drifted off to sleep. When I woke up, Hoseok was by my side worrying and complaining over me for sleeping outside.”

Jimin laughs at his story, and scoots closer towards Yoongi. He’s not sure what compels him to do such a thing but he does, finding warmth and solace in the elder. “That sounds like Hoseokie-hyung.” Jimin comments with a smile, “He’s always worrying about others. Even if you get into a fight he’ll still be the first one to worry about you. He’s always been like that since we first met.”

“He’d always been like that,” Yoongi agrees. Jimin nods his head in agreement, eyes staying on the stars. On the way they twinkle and blink. They remind him of people in a way. Groups of stars are groups of friends. Whereas the ones alone are people who don’t have anyone.

Or maybe. Maybe they’re families. Maybe the stars are family members bunched together finally. Family members who have died and came back together. They’ve finally found one another again.

Jimin wonders if Jihae is in a group or if he’s alone.

They stay in silence after that for a while. Only their breathing, the whistles of the wind and the soft sounds of cars driving by can be heard as they both stare up at the sky. At the twinkling stars that shine brighter the more you stare at them. Jimin smiles softly at them as he looks around to find the Little and Big Dipper, but honestly he’s not sure where they are so he gives up in the end.

He’s not sure how long they stay out there. If an hour has passed or maybe ten minutes. But at some point, Jimin finds himself resting his head on Yoongi’s chest. The clothes they’re wearing keeping them from actually touching one another. He finds himself seeking comfort that way and Yoongi doesn’t say anything or complain. But Jimin isn’t sure why he’s even done it to begin with.

He finds himself staring at Yoongi instead of the sky then. More interested in the way Yoongi’s breathing changed and picked up it’s pace when Jimin laid his head down. The way he purposely tries to focus solely on the sky rather than him laying down on him.

Has Yoongi always looked this pretty up close? Of course he has. He’s always been beautiful and Jimin knows that. He’s on the same level as Taehyung Jimin would say.

His eyes look at Yoongi’s features checking him out, and thinking. Wondering.

What if he kissed Yoongi? His plump lips are just there, kissable and free. But Jimin knows better than that. Knows that he shouldn’t and can’t even if there’s a strong part of him that really wants to.

Yoongi has a soulmate to find still, and Jimin knows it isn’t him. There’s never been someone to have two soulmates before and Jimin knows he won’t be lucky there. Knows it won’t suddenly be possible for him so he should keep his feelings to himself.

Feelings… that he knows he shouldn’t have but does. He can’t love Yoongi. He shouldn’t love Yoongi in that way. He shouldn’t want to be with Yoongi. Shouldn’t want to kiss him, or spend as much time with him as possible. He shouldn’t get so happy from those text messages every morning and he shouldn’t look forward to their meetings and movie nights so much.

He shouldn’t like Yoongi this way.

And yet he does.

And that scares him more than he ever thought possible.

As if a fire just started and burned Jimin he immediately rips away from Yoongi quickly standing on his feet. He shouldn’t be here. He shouldn’t be having these thoughts about Yoongi right now. They aren’t right. Aren’t fair to him.

Yoongi still has a future with someone else. Someone he’s destined to be with and that isn’t Jimin. It never will be and he knows that. And it hurts but it’s true.

“Jimin?” Yoongi sits up, a worried look on his face as he stares at Jimin’s panicked one. “What’s wrong? What is it?”

Jimin only shakes his head. He can’t tell him. He can’t open his mouth or else he’ll say words that he shouldn’t. So he doesn’t. Instead he runs past Yoongi leaving him alone in that field which only fuels the guilt he feels inside of him. But he can’t be there. Not with those thoughts plaguing him.

He runs and runs and runs until he’s no longer in the field. Until he’s back on the concrete ground that shows he’s near the dorms. Until he sees the light post that flickers on and off because it still hasn’t been fixed yet. Until he’s at the foot of the staircase that leads him up to his floor.

He doesn’t know if Yoongi followed him. But he hopes he hadn’t. Hopes that Yoongi will just stay there or return back to his own dorm. Jimin doesn’t want to talk to him right now anyways. Can’t talk to him.

He bounds up the stairs in a quick manner, rushing towards his own dorm door and he’s glad he didn’t lock it before leaving. He can only imagine trying to fiddle with his dorm key and ending up failing. He would probably drop it on the floor a few times before he even got it in the lock.

Entering his dorm room, Jimin almost slams the door behind him before remembering that it’s late at night and Hoseok is probably asleep beside him. Or, he’s probably at Namjoon and Seokjin’s place right now. It’s where he is more than often recently. Jimin still wonders why he even has a dorm if he practically lives with the couple.

He paces back and forth in his room, bringing his hands up to his hair and gripping tightly before letting go and digging into his pocket to grab out his phone. It’s almost eleven now and if Hoseok is asleep he knows he’ll be mad but he needs Hoseok right now.

Jimin doesn’t waste time finding and dialing Hoseok’s phone number. It’s one of the only ones he actually has on Speed Dial besides Taehyung. (But don’t tell Jeongguk that one.)

The line rings for a few moments before it picks up and Hoseok answers with, “Jimin? It’s late. What’s up?” He definitely sounds like he was asleep, but that doesn’t surprise him. Hoseok has always been one to fall asleep early. Normally by nine or ten he was out like a light. Today’s no exception.

“H-Hyung, I-I….I need to talk to you. It’s important. I just...I’m so confused and I don’t understand and I know I shouldn’t but I can’t help it and…-“ Jimin begins to ramble not at all making sense. But he can’t find it in him to make sense.

“Jimin, Chim, calm down.” Hoseok sounds a bit more awake now, a worried tone overtaking his sleepy one. “Take a deep breath and then tell me what’s going on, okay?”

Jimin does as he says, inhaling a deep breath and then exhaling immediately after. He does it a few more times until he’s sure he has the right words in his head and says, “I like Yoongi-Hyung. And I...I don’t know what to do Hoseokie-hyung. Help me. Please.”

There’s a pause between his words and Hoseok’s next reply. A pause that’s enough to leave Jimin anxious because this is Hoseok’s best friend that he’s talking about and he doesn’t know how he’ll react. And he’s nervous Hoseok would react badly because he shouldn’t like him and he knows that. But he also knows that out of all his friends, Hoseok is the one who understands him the most when it comes to this.

He’s the only one who’s gone through something somewhat similar to what Jimin has.

Jimin hears a deep exhale coming from Hoseok and he’s worried he’s about to be lectured over the phone. But instead he hears, “I’ll be right over.” And before Jimin has the chance to say anything, to make a suggestion that they could meet tomorrow instead the line dies.

It’s Jimin’s turn to let out a deep exhale - a sigh - as he lightly throws his phone to his bed and plops down beside it.

Hoseok should be able to help out here, right?

Right?

When Hoseok said he would be right over he literally means it because not even two seconds later there’s a knock on his front door. Jimin stares at it in shock for a moment wondering how Hoseok got here so fast before it clicks in his head that he most likely stayed in his dorm tonight rather than going to Namjoon’s place.

Jimin inhales a sharp breath as he gets off his bed and walks towards the door opening it up for Hoseok to come in. He offers a small and sincere smile as Hoseok walks inside still clad in his pajamas and wearing some slippers. But Jimin doesn’t blame him. He would do the same if he was just going next door too.

Immediately Hoseok heads over to the opposite bed in the room and sits down. He picks up the pillow that’s against the bed frame and settles it in his lap with a hum. Then he uses his hand and motions to Jimin to sit on his own bed so they could talk.

“I haven’t seen you in a while, Jiminie.” Hoseok whines, shaking his head at the thought. “I mean besides class. We haven’t hung out in a while.”

Jimin frowns at that because he knows it’s true. He’s been so busy with doing schoolwork, attending classes and then most of his free time he ends up spending with Yoongi so he hasn’t seen any of his friends much recently.

“I’m sorry,” Jimin says quietly copying Hoseok and putting his own pillow in his lap. He holds it tightly to his chest as he moves back on his bed until his back is against the wall. “I’ve just been busy a lot and hanging out with Yoongi more often than not now.”

Hoseok nods his head at that, holding the pillow closer to him staring at Jimin with his eyes. “So you like him?” He questions, even though Jimin knows he already knows the answer to it. After all, he did tell him that over the phone.

“I do, yeah.” He lowers his head down until it’s sitting on the pillow and he can see the ground from where he looks. “And I shouldn’t Hyung. I shouldn’t like him.”

“Do you remember a few weeks ago?” Hoseok asks, catching Jimin’s attention. He tilts his head to the side as he thinks before Hoseok adds, “When you came to get his number from me?”

Jimin nods his head, “Oh. Yeah I remember that. Why?”

“Do you remember what I said to you that day?”

He tries thinking, going through his brain to try and remember the words that Hoseok said to him. But he can’t remember much, the past few weeks feel like a distant blur to him at this point. He shakes his head no, “I don’t.”

“I told you back then that you would like Yoongi.” Hoseok reminds him, arms crossing over his chest. The pillow stays in his lap unmoved, “I told you to not be afraid of that.”

Jimin stares at Hoseok in shock. Now that Hoseok mentions it he does remember it. Remembers how confused he was about those words but he didn’t think them important enough to remember. He’s confused now though. “How did you know I would end up liking Yoongi?” He questions, tilting his head to the side.

Hoseok shrugs, shaking his head making his light brown hair fall into his eyes. It’s not brushed, or even neat for that matter. Jimin really must have woken up him from sleep, “Honestly I’m not sure. I just had this feeling when I looked at you two that it was gonna be something more.”

“It won’t be anything more.” Jimin shuts down. There’s a small frown on his face as he speaks those words aloud but it’s true. They can’t be anything more. He won’t keep Yoongi from his soulmate. It's the best thing in the world. “I shouldn’t like Yoongi, Hoseokie-hyung. I shouldn’t and I do...a-and it scares me hyung. What do I do?”

“You tell him.” Hoseok answers bluntly, eyes staring straight into Jimin. A part of him feels a little intimidated by the elder’s narrow eyes and piercing look. “Listen to me Jimin, you called me here because I understand you the most. Because I’m almost in the same boat as you, and I know that. You wouldn’t call Jeongguk or Taehyung for this because they have each other, but I’m also without a soulmate.” He uncrosses his arms, takes the pillow out of his lap and crosses the room until he’s on Jimin’s bed this time, “Because I’m like you. But look at it this way, Namjoon and Seokjin are soulmates. And yet I still fit in there, don’t I?”

It's true. Namjoon and Seokjin have been soulmates for years now, but within the last year they have grown steadily closer to Hoseok until he revealed they were all in a relationship together. And Jimin didn’t see a problem with it. If anything, he was overly happy for Hoseok that he found happiness and love once again.

Hoseok reaches out and grabs one of Jimin’s gloved hands, a small smile creeping on his face. “I was scared too you know. To tell Namjoon and Seokjin that I liked them because they have each other and I’m not their soulmate.” He gives Jimin’s hand a squeeze, “But it was Yoongi who gave me the courage to do it. And some wise words with it.”

Jimin tilts his head in curiosity, using his free hand to help him turn his body more towards Hoseok as they talk. “What were they?” He asks. He presses his right shoulder against the wall, leaning his head against it as well as he stares at Hoseok awaiting his reply.

“‘Just because you have a soulmate doesn’t always mean you need to find them. You can love whoever you want. Life can’t change that.’” Hoseok tells him, a small smile on his face as he says the words aloud. “And he’s right Jimin. Life works in crazy ways. I’m not soulmates with either Namjoon or Seokjin and yet all three of us love each other like we all are.”

“So go and tell Yoongi, Chim.” Hoseok says using his other free hand to pat Jimin’s knee. He has a bright smile on his face, “Life can’t tell you who and who not to love. I can assure you there’s tons of people in this world who are in your shoes and they’re happy.”

Jimin nods his head slowly looking down at the bedding. He purses his lips together debating whether to ask a question or not before ultimately saying, “Hyung, do you think having another soulmate is possible? Do you think I’ll ever see colour again?”

Hoseok nods his head, “I think anything is possible Jimin. Who knows, maybe life worked in such a weird way that you and Hyung could be soulmates. I’d believe it.”

Jimin laughs at that, shaking his head a bit. Though it would be nice if that were true. If he were magically Yoongi’s soulmate and they could be happy together. But honestly, Jimin would just be happy with Yoongi even if they aren’t soulmates. It’s just up to Yoongi if he’d be happy without seeing colour.

“Do you think Yoongi would say...I don’t know that he likes me back or something? I don’t know. I just...I don’t want to ruin his chances of finding his soulmate.” Jimin voices his concerns aloud with a small frown.

“I think you'd be surprised by Yoongi’s words. But you have to talk to him.” Hoseok responds with a smug look on his face. Jimin tilts his head in confusion, staring at Hoseok as he tries to figure out the meaning behind it but ultimately failing.

“What does that mean?” He ends up asking, wondering if Hoseok would actually explain it.

“I can’t tell you. There’s some things best friends can’t reveal to other people.” Hoseok lets go of Jimin’s hand and holds his own up in surrender. “Just talk to him Chim. The worst thing he could do is say no, but you won’t know unless you do it.”

“I know I know. I just…” Jimin inhales a breath. He needs to apologize for running off on Yoongi like that anyways. It’s safer to do it earlier rather than later. And even though he’s still nervous, still scared of the outcome he knows Hoseok is right. So he nods his head and says, “I’ll do it tomorrow. It’s too late right now and we should sleep soon.”

As if on cue, Hoseok lets out a loud yawn. Jimin still does feel a bit bad for waking Hoseok up and asking him to come over so late at night. He’ll have to make it up to him in the near future. “I think I’ll crash here then.” He chirps getting up from Jimin’s bed and going to the spare once again.

Jimin glares at him, “You literally live next door. You could just walk back home in the time it takes you to get comfortable in the bed.” He says but Hoseok pays him no attention. Instead he’s already getting the bed set up and going underneath the covers with a smile on his face. Jimin shakes his head at that copying Hoseok at his own bed, letting out a small laugh. The elder always cracked him up for various reasons.

He makes sure to plug his phone into the charger before turning out the lights of the dorm room. The room is covered in darkness once the light has been flickered off. He doesn’t have any night lights or anything else.

Adjusting himself to get comfortable in his bed, he stares up at the ceiling a deep breath escaping him. “Hey Hyung?” He calls quietly, but since there’s no noise in the room Hoseok should be able to hear clear as day.

Hoseok merely hums back in reply, probably already drifting off to sleep.

“Thank you for tonight.”

Hoseok doesn’t reply back this time. Jimin’s lips curl into a smile. He really must have been tired then.

To Yoonie:

Hyungie can you come over to Taehyung’s today around noon? Please? I want to talk to you about something.

From Yoonie:

I’ll be there.

“I’m really sorry for running off on you last night,” Jimin says quietly when he and Yoongi go out to the back. He doesn’t want to talk about this when Taehyung and Jeongguk are within earshot. He loves his best friends but this doesn’t concern them for the time being. “I panicked about something and kind of let that take over. I really didn’t mean to leave you last night. Especially after you were so nice to take me out.”

“It’s fine,” Yoongi replies looking out at the backyard. He stares at all the flowers growing, big and healthy. “I didn’t know Taehyung and Jeongguk were growing a garden.”

Jimin laughs at that trying to imagine either of them actually in the garden. While he can see Taehyung watering the plants for him, it’s nearly impossible to see Jeongguk out here unless he’s just admiring them.

“It’s not theirs.” Jimin replies shaking his head, “It’s mine.”

Even though it’s been three years since the loss of his colour vision Jimin has still kept his garden alive and growing. He can’t see the colourful flowers anymore, can’t witness their full beauty but they still make him happy. They are something he loves and he’ll continue to grow them for as long as he can.

“Yours?” Yoongi turns to look at Jimin with wide eyes. He’s not surprised Yoongi is shocked by the sudden news. Most people are, because why would someone who can’t see colour grow something that’s only truly beautiful in colour? “But I thought you couldn’t…?”

“I can’t.” Jimin says cutting him off. He already knows what Yoongi is going to say there’s no surprise there. “Not anymore.”

“Not anymore?” Yoongi repeats, tilting his head to the side. “You’ve lost me now, Minnie.”

Jimin sighs looking at the roses. The ones that are supposed to be red but look grey in his eyes. He didn’t come out here to tell Yoongi this story. He came out here to tell him that he liked him and wanted to see if maybe there’s a chance for a future together. But he supposes Yoongi also has a right to know it, to know about his past. He doesn’t mind telling him.

“Years ago, I met my soulmate.” Jimin begins, eyes looking away from the roses and up towards the sky. “I saw colour for the first time in my life and it was amazing. Truly the most beautiful thing in the world. But then…” He sighs, licking at his lips. “Three years ago he passed away and my colour was taken away too.”

“Oh…” Comes from Yoongi, his voice soft and quiet. Sincere, “I didn’t know. I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. I’ve accepted it by this point.” Jimin says, lowering his head down to look at Yoongi. He holds up one of his hands. “It’s why I wear these gloves. People won’t try to reach out and touch me. They won’t have to deal with another disappointment knowing I’m not the one for them.”

“I wouldn’t be disappointed you weren’t my soulmate,” Yoongi says quietly, now it’s his turn to look up at the sky, “Because even if you weren’t it doesn’t change how I feel about you.”

Jimin blinks, hand falling to his lap as he tilts his head to the side in confusion. “How you feel about me? What do you mean?” He questions, raising a brow. Wasn’t he the one supposed to be confessing? What is it that Yoongi is trying to say?

“This may be out of line and if it is tell me and I’ll shut up, but honestly Jimin I’ve never found my soulmate. I’ve never searched for them before because I don’t want destiny to tell me who I’m supposed to love for the rest of my life.” Yoongi explains, he brings a hand up to his head to shield his eyes from the sunlight as he stares at the clouds slowly passing by them. “Because if I did go by that then I couldn’t love you, Jimin. And I do. I love you.”

Jimin stares at Yoongi in shock, mouth parting as he plays Yoongi’s words over and over in his head. ‘I love you’. As in a friend? Or something more? Bound to be something more right? Because he’s saying he doesn’t care if he finds his soulmate or not. Right?

“Maybe I’ll never see colour in my life.” Yoongi continues, finally lowering his gaze to look at Jimin. “And I’m fine with that. Because you give my world colour Jimin. You shine so brightly like how Jin-hyung always says the colour yellow is, and when you’re sad I can only think of how teachers explained the colour blue to be like.”

He reaches out for Jimin’s gloved hand taking it into his own and squeezes it. “You don’t have to feel the same Jimin. You don’t have to love me or like me in that manner but I figured it was time I told you because it’s how I truly feel. I really do like you.”

Did he somehow overhear his and Hoseok’s conversation last night? Is that why he’s suddenly confessing to him?

Jimin lets out a small chuckle bringing his free hand up to card it throughout his hair. “You just...beat me to it honestly.” He says smiling towards Yoongi. “It’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I realized last night that I really liked you and wanted to be with you, but I was scared because I didn’t want to take off your chance of seeing colour.”

“You’re worth not seeing colour for.” Yoongi says honestly, squeezing Jimin’s hand once again.

The younger flushes at that comment, looking down at the ground. He kicks at the rocks beneath them with his foot, “So what now?” He asks quietly, shyly. He’s really not sure where to go from here. That was in the talk last night.

“Well, we could begin our lives as boyfriends.” Yoongi answers proudly, “That's always an option. I think I’m liking it the most so far.”

Jimin laughs at that, “It’s the only option you gave so far but...I like it too. We should do that. Boyfriends. It does sound nice.”

“Really?” Yoongi asks, his pride lowering into a more serious tone.

Jimin looks up at him, licking his lips, “Are you sure you won’t be disappointed knowing we aren’t soulmates?”

Yoongi nods his head immediately, scooting closer to Jimin until their knees are touching. “Even if I met my soulmate it wouldn’t change the fact that the person I love is you, Jimin.” He admits with a smile, “No one can change that.”

He thinks back to the question he asked Hoseok last night. About if there’s a chance someone could have two soulmates. And even if it’s not the case between the two of them Jimin won’t be disappointed because he has low faith in it anyways. And he’s happy to have Yoongi any way he can anyways.

“Will you…” Jimin inhales a sharp breath pulling his hand away from Yoongi. He takes off one of his gloves and holds his bare hand up towards Yoongi. It’s something he wants to test. Something he wants to know. And if they’re dating now it's bound to happen eventually, but Jimin wants to do it now when he’s ready for it, “Hold my hand then?”

He doesn’t miss the shocked and startled look Yoongi’s face before he’s nodding his head and bringing his hand closer. Before their fingers touch though Jimin shuts his eyes. Even though he’s the one who asked for this he’s still nervous about it all.

His breath gets caught in his throat the moment he feels Yoongi’s hand holding onto his, their fingers intertwining with one another. And though it’s already done, he’s still too scared to open his eyes and be greeted with the black and white he’s grown used to once again.

“Oh my god,” Yoongi says. Jimin can’t tell whether that’s a good sign or a bad sign. Would Yoongi go back on his words after all? Would he decide this isn’t really what he wants, realizing that Jimin really isn’t his soulmate? “Oh my god,” Yoongi says again, sounding breathless, “Jimin, oh my god, open your eyes Jimin.”

So Jimin does.

He opens them slowly ready to be met with what he’s used to. With what he already expected is going to happen. To see the greys and whites and blacks and he’ll try not to be disappointed because he shouldn’t be. But when he opens his eyes… that’s not the case.

There’s colours. He sees them.

He can see the light blue of the sky, can see the reds on the roses and the yellows of the sunflowers. He can see the green from the grass and he can see Yoongi. He can see Yoongi’s beautiful brown eyes and plump pink lips. He can see everything.

He can see his tears as they start falling down his face. As a small sob escapes his body and bends over in happiness because he hadn’t expected this. No one expected it and yet it happened.

He has another soulmate.

His soulmate is Yoongi.

This is his second chance. Nothing really is impossible.

He lifts his head up and looks at Yoongi. He flashes him a bright smile to which Yoongi returns. “I can’t believe this,” Yoongi says excitedly bringing Jimin up to a standing position. “You’re my soulmate, Jimin. I...I...wow...I knew we were fated to be friends.”

Jimin lets out a giggle through the tears as Yoongi picks him up and swings him around happily. “You were right.” He replies, trying to focus on the flowers as he is being spun around.

“It’s...out standing.” Yoongi exclaims as he sets Jimin down on the ground. “People always said it would be wonderful but they never prepared me for this. I’m...and you’ve seen this already. How did you handle it the first time?”

Jimin laughs again, squeezing Yoongi’s hand and looking directly towards the flowers this time. He missed their beauty. “I don’t know. I just...did.” He says, letting go of Yoongi’s hand and walking closer towards his garden. He crouches down in front of the roses, reaching his hand out to feel one.

“You’ll have to show me all of these and tell me what they are,” Yoongi says, crouching down as well. “I don’t know much about flowers.”

“Well,” Jimin plucks one of the roses from the garden, being careful of its thorns and holds it out to Yoongi. “We’ve got all the time in the world now to do so.”

“Yeah.” Yoongi nods his head smiling, “We do, don’t we?”

Life definitely works in weird ways, Jimin has learned. But sometimes it can be rewarding. Sometimes it surprises you. Sometimes it gives you meetings that turn into something more.

Sometimes it gives you two soulmates in a lifetime and lets you pursue your dream once again.

After finding out that he and Yoongi were soulmates and that they could both see colour, Jimin spent a lot of time crying trying to believe this was real. He never in his life thought he’d get the chance to see colour again, but here he was.

He was happy and completely in love with his boyfriend and seeing colour once again.

Sometimes he thinks about the way he had come into Taehyung’s house crying and both Taehyung and Jeongguk were ready to beat up Yoongi thinking he had done something wrong before they explained everything. Sometimes he thinks about the way Hoseok kept saying he was happy for the both of them and knew everything would work out in the end.

Sometimes Jimin thinks about how lucky he must be to have gotten a second chance in his life. He wonders if there’s other people in the world that got the same chance he did. If others were able to find someone else in the world to love. If maybe they too found another soulmate to be with forever.

Looking back at it now, he’s glad he went to Hoseok that night. He’s a bit glad that English stressed him out to the point he needed a break and called Yoongi. If those things hadn’t happened he wonders where he would be today.

Would he be pursuing his dream once again? Would he be taking business classes again to one day open up a floristry like he always wished? Or would he still be struggling over that English class that he hated? Would he be done with college by now and living with Taehyung and Jeongguk?

But more times than not he prefers not to think about the what if’s. Prefers not thinking about what could have happened if some things never occurred all that time ago. It’s in the past now anyways and he likes living in the present.

In the present, where he and Yoongi now live together in a small one bedroom apartment across the street from Taehyung and Jeongguk. In the present, where he’s finally found a major that he wants to finish in college. In the present, where he can see all the colours of the rainbow once again and he’s reminded of why he chose gardening as his passion.

In the present, where every Friday he and Yoongi still have their traditional movie nights that normally end with hot make out sessions in their bedroom.

In the present, where he’s Yoongi's and Yoongi is his.

In the present, where he’s happy.
