Chapter Text

When Bakugou woke the next morning, he had a pounding headache, as if someone threw him into a cement wall. He groaned as he sat up off the ground. He blinked as his head felt light as he did so, and he gained his bearings before standing up. He stood for another minute, his ears ringing as dizziness washed over him. He looked over at the clock, and the time was 2:54 in the morning. He groaned in frustration, remembering what had happened a couple of hours ago.

"Shitty Deku," he growled out before sitting on the bed Midoriya had been on not too long ago. His head ached from when he had gotten punched by the kid, and he sighed as he stared off out the window. What was that? Why was Midoriya trying to hurt Bakugou so badly? Why was he wanting to leave in such a hurry?

Bakugou thought back to the boy's behaviour. The fact that he was acting so natural in a hospital. How he acted like the IV cord was just bothering him and not like he was planning on ripping out of his own arm and using it to stab Bakugou in the eye. Midoriya wasn't Midoriya, and he hadn't known how long this was going on for. But now he was worried. If Midoriya wanted to leave so badly, where had he gone?

The look in his eyes was something Bakugou had never seen before. It wasn't crazy. It was absolute insanity. Eyes that could kill anyone just from a single glance. And his red eye. What was that about? Was this all happening just because it was a result of his late quirks?

However, Bakugou didn't think that was the issue. And he couldn't just sit there and think about this while Midoriya was probably off on his own acting on something out of his control.

Bakugou quickly got up, ignoring the pain and wooziness and jogging out into the corridor. What he saw horrified him.

Never before had he seen so many dead bodies in the same area. Some were piled on top of each other, some laying in a pool of their own blood. Did Midoriya do this?

No, he wouldn't have done that. Midoriya would never kill anyone! He wouldn't even kill someone in self-defence. So what happened?

Bakugou felt sick. He was beginning to smell everything now. He had to get out of there quickly. God, was he going to have nightmares about this later on in the future.

Bakugou was almost holding his breath the whole way through, and halfway down the corridor, he took off in a sprint, not being able to be near the dead nurses and doctors. Once he got to the elevator, he quickly pressed the buttons, keeping his back turned to the corridor. He couldn't breathe. He could feel his throat closing, and he gasped out several breaths to regain his heartbeat back to its usual rhythm. The doors finally opened, and he almost wanted to force the doors shut in front of him, because they were going really slow and he could still see those fucking bodies.

The doors finally shut, and he sighed in relief, partly because he was scared one of the bodies would jump up and run toward him. Once he got down to the first floor, he walked out, noticing the receptionist lady was also dead. He shook his head, trying to rid himself of the morbid things he just saw and ran out the front of the hospital.

What he saw put him into a further state of shock.

Jesus, it's just one thing after another, isn't it?

There were two firetrucks, a couple of ambulances, and a few police cars outside one of the apartment buildings next to the hospital. The bottom floor and the one above was just at the end of being hosed down. It seemed the two floors were set on fire. There was someone in the back of one of the ambulances with a paramedic, and one sitting next to one of the firetrucks, an oxygen mask over their mouth.

Bakugou walked over to one of the police officers, tapping one on the shoulder. "Hey, what the hell happened here?"

The officer turned around and sighed before saying, "We checked the footage of the building and saw a young teenage boy blowing fire into the building. It seems this was his intention. He just laughed and skipped away like a little schoolgirl. Pure evil, that kid."

Bakugou felt his anger flare up as the officer talked shit about his. . . His what? His friend? His best friend? His boyfriend? Definitely not. Still, Bakugou's face heated up at the thought.

He didn't realise it until now, but besides all the fighting they had done, what even were they to each other? Maybe acquaintances, at best. At least, that's what he was trying to tell himself.

Bakugou huffed before saying, "What did he look like?"

The officer eyed him suspiciously before saying, "Do you know this kid?"

"Well I wouldn't fucking know, I haven't seen what he looks like." Bakugou sassed back, causing the officer's nostrils to flare up.

"Mind your manners, young man. You're dealing with someone of higher authority than you and of higher age. Treat others with respect."

"Could you just show me the fucking pictures?!" Bakugou exclaimed, his frustration tipping over the edge. The officer was about to reply back, but another came around and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry about it, Tanaka-san. I'll handle this. He's just a bit upset." It was Detective Tsukauchi, or True Man. "Hey, Bakugou-san. If you're suspecting it's Midoriya, then yes, this was in fact his actions."

"Fucking knew it!" Bakugou exclaimed, throwing his hands up in agitation. "I don't know what the fuck is up with that idiot, but it's time he fucking stops!"

Tsukauchi nervously laughed at Bakugou's language before saying, "How about I take you to the station, and we can talk about it there? Would you be okay with that? I want to figure out what is going on with Midoriya as much as you do, trust me. This will only further help our investigation. The sooner we find out what happened and where he went, the sooner we can help him."

Bakugou only nodded his head before following him to the police vehicle.

You better not be doing anything stupid, Deku, or I'll kick your ass.
