Chapter Text
Larry kept a tight grip on Ahkmenrah, relieved how everything turned up alright. Ahkmenrah kept his head tucked into his neck. The stress of almost losing everything was overwhelming. It scared him to think how close they think came to losing their baby. Larry gave him a reassuring, loving squeeze.
Nick put the tablet in his backpack for safe keeping. He smiled at Teddy and Sac when they came up beside him. The President placed his hand on the teenager's shoulder, both of them watching the couple.
They did it.
They can go home.

The group made their way back to the Egyptian exhibit, and to Ahkmenrah's parent's. Larry looked at Ahkmenrah as they walked. They were at the back of their group, in an attempt of some privacy. His lover has been quiet has been quiet since they fixed the tablet. He could see that he is much more relaxed than he was before, but there was something clearly bothering him.
'' Ahk, are you okay?'' Larry asked him, keeping his voice quiet.
The Pharaoh looked up at the sound of his voice, and took his husband's hand in his.
'' Yes, I'm alright. Just....exhausted after everything that has happened.''
He didn't need to explain further. Larry understood. All to well.
'' I know you don't want to talk about it, but once we are home, alone, we can talk about it. Is that okay?'' Larry asked.
Ahkmenrah nodded. He knew they needed to talk. His lingered to his very small bump.
Now came the next hard task.
Telling the truth to his parent's, and saying goodbye.

In the Egyptian wing, the King and Queen were restless. They needed to know that their son was alright. Merenkahre looked at his wife, who was pacing. It seems like that's what she was doing for hours. At the sound of footsteps, they looked up. It was Ahkmen, and his friends.
Shepseheret moved to her youngest, and checked him over with her eye's. Ahkmenrah assured her that he was fine, and the tablet was safe. His mother looked relieved, and tugged him to her.
'' I think you and I shall have a talk.'' She whispered.
Yup, she knows.
Hugging her back, he nodded.
Larry watched Ahkmenrah interacting with his mother, and didn't notice when Ahkmenrah's father joined him. After a moment, the night guard turned to look at the older man next to him. He waited for him to say something, as the King watched his son. Larry saw Nick walk over to Ahkmenrah and Shepseheret.
'' It is amazing how fast they grow up, isn't it?'' Merenkahre asked.
'' Yeah...one minute, their running around Central Park, riding a dinosaur, next they are saving a tablet in London.''
Merenkahre looked at him strangely. What was he talking about? Staying silent, he nodded. He placed his hand on his shoulder, to get his attention. Larry turned to him in confusion.
'' My family shall always be grateful to you, and shall build you a monument when you die.''
'' Um..... thank you.''
Merenkahre took this chance to add;
'' Also, I am aware that you are having relations with my son.'' He said it, bluntly.
Larry went bright red. Of course, he was expecting to talk to Ahk's parent's. But he wasn't expecting that! How awkward..... He looked at Ahkmenrah, and could tell Shepseheret was having the same conversation with her son. The young Pharaoh was blushing. Parent's are so embarrassing.

It finally came time for the hardest part. Saying goodbye.
Ahkmenrah hugged his parent's tightly. He was aware that this would have to happen eventually, but still....
Shepseheret held onto her child, letting the tears fall from her eyes. She's wasn't yet ready to let him go. But, she needed to. He had his own life to live, with his friends, and a man who will take care of him. After their intense talk, she trusted the night guard. She was happy that her son had his own happiness.
'' Mother, we have to go.'' Ahkmenrah told her quietly.
The Queen saw it coming. She squeezed him once more, before releasing him. She gave him a sad smile, and let him move back his husband's side. She wandered when she would see him again. Will he have had the child by then? Maybe another? She would have loved to be there for support in the later stages of his pregnancy and the birth. She knew Merenkahre felt the same. He was always so protective of their youngest.
'' I will try to arrange for you guys to visit New York. Maybe, they can have a special occasion of having Ahk's parent's and their artifacts to display. '' Larry suggested.
The King and Queen smiled at the suggestion, agreeing at the idea. Larry told them he will do what he can, and have his director talk to Tilly.
Saying goodbye once more, the group left, and finally...headed home.
