Chapter Text

“Why the hell are you up this early?” the croak of her sister’s voice stopped Lexa from tying her shoes.

“Going for a run. Wanna come?” Another groan escaped her sister’s mouth followed by the movement of sheets. Lexa smiled patting her sleepy sister on the shoulder,

“I will wait for you downstairs. We’ll just do the lake.” Anya stretched,

“Hell no. If we are doing this, we are doing the trail. Pack a snack for the top.”

“Yes ma’am.”  The sisters would do this run all the time during their vacations during the off seasons. At the time, it was always a competition, and now, it still is. Except now it was even worse.

“Is she coming or what?” Aden bounded down the stairs, pulling his hoodie over his head.

“Yeah give her a few, she wasn’t expecting it.” Lexa stated, stretching out one of her calves.

“Did she agree to the trail?”

“She suggested it so there was no need for convincing.” Aden high-fived his sister, mirroring her stretches.

“So this was all planned, you psychos.” Anya yawned her way down the stairs, pushing past her siblings towards the fridge. Aden jumped in place with a smile,

“C’mon An. I promised coach I would train with my all-star sisters during the off season.” Anya waved her hand in annoyance, taking in a few sips of water.

“He only asked me. It’s your fault you’re a light sleeper.” This time, Anya waved a finger, joining her siblings in a stretch.

“Sorry, I’m not used to being woken up at six in the morning.” They finished warming up and made their way outside. Lexa started setting a timer on her watch,

“So do you guys want to take the hill or start from the road and-” Before she could finish her question, her siblings were already racing towards the incline. Lexa exhaled her slight frustration, pushing off her feet to catch up with her siblings' laughter.

----------

“I win. Take that, suckers.” Aden reached the end of the trail, slapping their old pine tree finish line. His sisters right behind him; Lexa taking her heart rate while Anya interlocked her fingers atop her head, taking in the view. The sun started to break over the far trees, lighting up the far side of the lake. To the right, their house was still asleep.

“God, this never gets old.” Anya exhaled, while Lexa hummed in agreement. The three siblings stood together at the edge of the trail, as close as they could to the drop off.

“Promise we always make time to do this.” The sisters looked over at their brother, eyes still trained on the view.

“Of course, dude. We can’t just let you win every time.” Anya teased.

“You two did not let me win! You guys are just old.” Aden retorted.

“Woah, I am not as ancient as Anya.” Lexa defended.

“Okay, I thought we were having a moment, but I guess you guys aren’t as mature as me. So for that, I won’t share my granola.” Anya takes a seat in a patch of grass, sticking to her word.

“Alright, alright. Pass me some and we can get sappy.” Lexa took a seat next to her sister, sandwiched by Aden. They spoke about their futures. Aden started with his contemplations of college. His career prospects. His lack of attempts at asking out a certain someone.

“I am not chaperoning.” Anya states, finishing off her first set of snacks.

“I wasn’t asking for a chaperone. I just need advice. Womanly advice.” Lexa fails at holding in a laugh and Aden groans,

“I just mean you two are like the best sources for how to get girls.” There was no attempt to hold back laughter there. Aden sighed,

“Just forget I even asked.” Lexa gripped her brother’s shoulder,

“No, no buddy, we will help you. We will be serious. Right, Anya?” She glared at her sister,

“Right. Absolutely serious. Continue, little man.”

“It just seems like every time I try to ask her out, someone or something gets in the way and interrupts.” The sisters nodded as Aden continued, “Plus, I don’t even know if she even likes me or would even want to go out with me.”

“Whoa, whoa, dude. She totally wants to date you.” Anya looked over at her brother,

“How do you even know?”

“Dude, we aren’t blind. That girl could not stop staring at you. At the game. At our house.” Lexa listed off.

“Yeah, she’d say yes to a date.” Anya added.

“Well, where would I take her? What would we do? I don’t even know what to do on a date.”

“You’ll figure it out. All I know is I am not chaperoning.” Anya relented, reaching into Lexa’s snacks after finishing her own. The sun was now fully over the treeline. The world below them was no longer quiet.

“What does she like?” Lexa wondered, pushing Anya out of her snack pack.

“She likes music. She’s in the band.”

“Okay, we get you two to a music festival. Eat some food from the back of a truck. Stand in a 30 minute line for a bathroom. Mosh pit. Get her home at a decent time. Kiss her goodnight. Boom, it will be great.” Anya summarized her brother’s perfect evening with her mouth full of trail mix. They watched the gears in Aden’s head turn as if he was picturing it alongside his sister’s words. When he reached the last step, his eyes went wide.

“Wait. Kiss her? Like actually. I don’t-”

“Oh come on dude. You can’t chicken out before you even ask the girl.”  Anya reached over to flick her brother in the shoulder. Lexa nodded,

“Yeah dude, you don’t have to kiss her after. Just have fun. It’s just like normal,” she smiles over at him, “only this time, it’s a date.”

“Not helping.” Aden rubbed his temples as Lexa nudged her brother out of comfort.

“Morning.” Clarke greets her friends gathered in the kitchen.

“Good morning Clarkey. Double or triple stack?” Octavia asked from the front of the stove.

“Double is fine, thank you.” Clarke took a seat around the island, looking over Raven’s shoulder to help her with a crossword.

“Where did those three go?” Raven asked, clicking the pen after every word.

“Probably halfway around the circumference of the earth.” Clarke humored, leaning her weight onto her friend.

“Bunch of robots.” Raven mumbled, “Where’s Lincoln?”

“Showering.” The two girls brought their attention to Octavia’s casual statement.

“I’m sorry. Come again. I’m not sure if I heard you correctly.” Raven set down her pen.

“We ran into each other in the hall. Relax.” Octavia waved off her friends with her spatula.

“I’m relaxed. Totally relaxed. Aren’t I relaxed, Clarke?”

“Completely chilled.”

“See and that’s coming from a doctor.” Octavia stacked the freshly made pancakes onto the plate in front of Clarke.

“Don’t worry you two. I have this all under control.” Clarke cut up her first pancake,

“Worried. We aren’t worried. Are you worried, Rae?”

“Completely unconcerned.” The sound of the front door opening brought the girls out of their banter as the Woods siblings entered the kitchen.

“Good morning fiance,” Anya came behind Raven to greet her with a kiss on the cheek, “You smell.” Raven wiggled away. Anya proceeded to wipe her sweat onto Raven. Aden went straight for the extra pancakes next to the stove,

“Woah bud, so much for that workout.” Lexa took a seat next to Clarke, smiling at the glare from her brother.

“Hey you.” Clarke slid her plate over to her girlfriend, offering her a bite.

“Hi, how’d you sleep?” Lexa accepted the pancakes already soaked in syrup.

“Pretty good,” Clarke leaned in closer, “Raven snores kinda, but not too bad.” Lexa smiled over at her girlfriend.

“I am so sorry about that. Is there anything I can do to help?” Clarke shrugged,

“I can think of a few things.” Her response caused Lexa’s body to reheat right before the fake gagging from Raven brought that heat up to her cheeks.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

The rest of the day was quiet. It was spent outside in the sun. Everyone spoke quietly among themselves, circled together listening to music. Clarke leaned into Lexa’s side, tracing nonsense into her girlfriend’s palm, resting on the top of her thigh. Every time anyone made Lexa laugh, Clarke would feel her lungs expand and contract, the warmth from her breath hit the back of her neck, and the sound of her light chuckling in her ear. Music to her ears.

“You doing alright?” It was a question Lexa whispered into her ear every so often. Every time it happened, she felt chills and she couldn’t hold back a smile.

“Yeah. Are you doing alright?” Clarke returned the question, turning her head to get a better view. She felt a kiss against her temple and a squeeze around her shoulders.

“Yeah. I am really happy you’re here right now.” Clarke leaned back into Lexa’s neck,

“I am really happy to be here.”

“I am kinda getting nauseous.” Aden stated from across the patio. Lexa rolled her eyes,

“I am sure I will be just as nauseated when you finally ask that girl out.” Clarke gave Aden the biggest smile,

“Aw, you are going to ask the girl from the game out? That’s so cute.” Aden’s face grew a few shades redder, pushing the stray hairs out of his eyes.

“We were trying to help him plan a date this morning, but he didn’t like our sisterly advice.” Anya interjected, finally pulling her attention away from her fiancé.

“You two probably scared the poor kid. Plus the date isn’t even the first hurdle, it’s the asking that he has to get over first.” Octavia sat forward on the sectional she so happened to be sharing with Lincoln.

“How were you planning to ask her, bud?” Lincoln brought the group attention back onto Aden. Octavia nodded, “Yeah, show us how you were going to do it.”

“Really? Like in front of all of you. Right now. With all of you watching.” Aden stuttered. Anya smirked and leaned back in her chair, “Well, I am not going to look away from this potential trainwreck- Ow!” Raven pinched her forearm, “No pressure, Aden. We are all friends,” she glared back and forth at the Woods sisters, “Some of us are family. You have nothing to worry about.” Clarke nodded in along,

“Yeah, we will help you out.” Aden took in a breath of air.

“Okay,” He jumped out of his seat, wiping his hands on his pants, “Um, well.” Clarke stood up and stood in front of him.

“Just pretend I’m her. What’s her name again?”

“Ontari.”

“Beautiful. Okay, pretend I’m Ontari and just,” Clarke shrugged, “ask me out.” Lexa sat forward in her seat, smiling at her girlfriend’s initiative. The rest of the group took turns shouting out pointers.

“Eye contact dude. Keep eye contact.”

“But don’t look like you wanna murder her. Blink a few times.”

“Compliment what she’s wearing.”

“Or her hair. Chicks love when you say nice stuff about their hair.”

“Stop bouncing around. Just like stand still dude.”

“Okay, why are you doing that with your hands? Just put your hands down.”

Finally Clarke brought her hands up to silence her friends. She turned her attention back to Aden.

“Okay, whatever they said was kinda helpful, sort of. Just relax. She’s a friend. You know her. Just talk.” Aden rubbed his hands against his shirt,

“It’s that simple?”

“It’s that simple. Go for it. No harm today if you mess up. It’s just practice before the real thing.” Aden looked over Clarke’s shoulder to Lexa for reassurance. Clarke turned around and gave her girlfriend pleading eyes to help her poor mess of a brother. Of course, Lexa couldn’t just sit there. She stood up and moved to stand behind her brother.

“Okay Aden, the bell just rang and school ended. Game time. You’re both walking over to your lockers to get ready to leave. Did you still want to take her to that music festival thing we talked about?” Aden nodded, keeping eye contact with Clarke. Clarke smiled, moving her attention between Aden and Lexa. Lexa kept her gaze on Clarke,

“Okay cool. You have your plan. She’s talking about how boring that last class was, wondering if you understood the homework. You understood a little and she offered to study together later over the phone, like you always do. And don’t deny it because I can hear you from down the hall every night.” Lexa did her best to get her brother in the scenario.

“She stops talking to focus on packing up her books. Now. Now is the time you ask. Doesn’t have to be perfect, girls like nervous.” That fact gets a quick smile from Clarke. Lexa continues, “Now just ask if she’s free this weekend.” She squeezes her brother’s arms to jumpstart his brain. Aden clears his throat,

“Uh, so Ontari, are you busy this weekend?” Lexa smiles, nodding for Clarke to answer,

“This weekend? No, I don’t think so, why?” Clarke offered as a response, which Lexa nodded in appreciation before interjecting once more,

“Perfect. Now this is where you ask her out. Just say you heard about this thing happening this weekend and thought of her.” Aden nodded,

“So, uh, I was thinking. I heard about this music thing on Saturday that I thought you might like and I was wondering if you wanted to go to it? With me?” Lexa squeezed Aden’s arms again in approval, waiting with everyone else for Clarke’s answer.

“Like a date?” The group held their breath as Aden moved the conversation along without his sister’s help.

“I mean, yeah. I figured maybe we can go and listen to some music, eat some food from the back of a truck, stand in a 30 minute bathroom line, start a mosh pit, get home at a decent time, and-” He stopped parroting the spiel Anya told him hours prior to avoid the ending statement. Regaining his thoughts, he reentered the practice conversation,

“Yeah a date. I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date with me this Saturday?” The excitement of the group was reaching its limits as they quietly waited for Clarke’s response. She had wiped the smile of her face, playing out the suspense.

“Okay. Sounds like fun. I can’t wait.” Cheers erupted from the group as they clapped for the role play that just took place. Lexa clapped her brother on his back, while Clarke moved forward to hug him. The noise faded when Lexa made eye contact with Clarke. There were hints of pride and love and thanks shared between the two as daylight started to fade and everyone returned to their state of bliss. The music shifted from lazed acoustic tracks to anthems. Clarke settled next to Lexa, accepting the arm slipping around her waist. Their friends started to trickle inside as the temperature began to drop. Lexa grabbed the blanket draped across the seat next to her to protect them from the chill.

“Thanks for asking out my brother.” Lexa brought Clarke in closer to maintain the lack of space. Clarke giggled,

“Thanks for being so cool with it. I knew you guys were close, but I didn’t think you were that close.” Lexa shook her head with a smile, kissing Clarke, in spite of the joke. A hum vibrated from Clarke’s mouth to Lexa’s. It took a while before Lexa pulled back,

“Seriously though, thank you for taking him seriously. I feel like I forget sometimes that he is growing up and dealing with stuff.” Clarke slid her index finger along the top of Lexa’s shoulder, tracing the same patterns against her palm with the other.

“Any time. It was fun. Plus, you did most of the heavy lifting. I just had to stand there and say yes.”

“Well, you did an excellent job.” Clarke kissed her as a thanks.

“So Ms. Griffin, how are your asking out skills?” Clarke giggled,

“Well, usually I don’t have to use them.” Lexa laughed,

“Wow. Humble brag.”

“I’m kidding. I’m kidding. They are alright.”

“Alright, huh?” Lexa asked with a quirked eyebrow. Clarke nodded, sitting up tall before clearing her throat for a demonstration.

“Hey Lexa, I was wondering if you are free this weekend?” Lexa smiled, not answering her girlfriend right away. Clarke poked in the stomach for a response. Lexa gave in,

“Well, I have this week-long bachelorette party thing for my sister so I am not too sure if I am in fact free this weekend.” Her answer didn’t satisfy Clarke, who gave her best pout for a redaction. Lexa gave in again,

“Oh look at that, my schedule just cleared up. Turns out I am free, why do you ask?” Clarke moved the finger tracing Lexa’s palm further up along her forearm.

“I was thinking that if you were free,”

She looped around the muscle of Lexa’s bicep,

“and you somehow found yourself not sharing a room with your sister in the next few days,” she carefully outlined Lexa’s shoulder to her neck,

“maybe you might consider,”

She moved her finger across Lexa’s jaw to her chin, tipping her head up with control, “sharing with me so that we,”

she dipped her head closer to Lexa’s, grazing her lips slightly with her own,

“could maybe have some fun.”

Lexa was at a loss for words. Her mind was racing as she tried to focus on one thing. Any one thing. Her senses were overloaded as Clarke’s breath heated her entire body. She nearly groaned when Clarke moved back to get a better view of her puddle of a girlfriend,

“What do you say Lex?” Her question was barely a whisper paired with the grin plastered across her face. It was there because Lexa was a heaving, turned on, mess, who was trying to regain any sort of stability. All she could do was nod. And she did. Profusely. Her eagerness earned her a long, drawn out kiss that ended too soon, punctuated with a peck.

“Perfect. So how did I do?” Clarke pushed back from her girlfriend, waiting for a score of some sort for her performance. Lexa didn’t even know where to start. Clarke giggled,

“That bad, huh?” She moved back to close the space between them, “Guess, I’ll just have to keep practicing.” Lexa nodded once before eagerly accepting another long, drawn out kiss.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

The rest of the days went by quickly. Lots of time swimming in the water, jamming out, and eating. Eventually, Aden had to head back to civilization to attend his Monday classes, not before promising to text the group the second he asked out Ontari. They send him off with high spirits and send him videos of themselves cheering when they found out his Saturday had been officially booked. The good news sent the bridal party off on a drinking frenzy till pretty soon they were all well filled with alcohol. They handle themselves well for the most part. The talking grows to yelling. The music starts to shake the walls. The air around them gets heated. Lexa was sitting in the living room with a seltzer in her hand, watching her friends get more intoxicated as the day turned dark. Anya took a seat next to her sister, bringing their drinks together with a clink.

“How are you feeling Lex?”

“Fine, a little tired. Can’t really hang like before.” Her sister waved her off.

“Please. You haven’t changed.” Lexa chuckled as her sister continued, “I’m serious, dude. You’re sitting here by yourself, minding your own business while our girlfriends are taking body shots off each other.” Lexa’s eyes widened as her sister nodded at the events she missed.

“Don’t worry I got it all on video. I’ll send it to you.” Lexa was about to decline the offer out of respect to her girlfriend and her friends, but the alcohol changed her mind. Lexa took another sip, “What number are they on?”

“No clue dude. They left me behind an hour ago.” Anya shook her head, more rapid than normal. The sound of laughter grew louder as the girls moved from the kitchen to the living room.

“What are you guys doing? Probably boring, lawyerly stuff.” Octavia rolled on to the carpet flat out on her back.

“Boring, lawyerly, stuff. What a snoozefest.” Raven flopped in the seat next to Anya, curling up into the woman’s lap.

“Babe, we took the week off. Or at least I took the week off. Lexa, on the other hand,” Anya stole Lexa’s attention away from Clarke, who had seated herself nearly on top of her girlfriend. Anya continued, “she has been waking up to do work on her laptop.” Lexa scoffed, “I just don’t want to get behind.” Anya waved her off, bringing her attention to her fiancé, while Octavia moved hers towards Lincoln, who took a seat on the floor next to her.

“You’re such an overachiever.” Clarke dragged her fingers through Lexa’s hair. Lexa groaned, “No I am not. I am just trying to stay ahead while we are here. Is that too much to ask?” She pouted a little, hoping for some sympathy. Clarke gave in,

“Aw, baby. It’s so cute how much you like doing your job.”

“I like you too, ya know.” Lexa confessed, which caused Clarke to raise an eyebrow,

“You do now? Wow, I am honored.”

“Good. I am going to assume you also like me?”

“I do like you Lex.” Clarke answered with a smile. Lex finished her drink,

“Good.” Clarke watched her set down her empty can. She traced the outline of Lexa’s face, observing the mannerisms of Lexa’s face. Lexa stares back at her, the alcohol hazing her judgement just a tad. Clarke notices.

“You’re staring.” Clarke absentmindedly bit down on her lips.

“I know.” Lexa’s response caused Clarke to giggle.

“Why is that?”

“You’re just so hot.” Clarke chuckled,

“You’re cute.” Lexa rolled her eyes,

“I was hoping for a hot compliment in return.” Clarke kissed Lexa’s nose,

“Okay, yes under all that cute,” She moved down to kiss her lips, “there’s a teensy bit of hotness in you Woods.” Her words grazed against Lexa’s mouth. The heat from Clarke’s compliment caused Lexa to push forward for more. Clarke allowed it for a time before pulling back.

“Easy there, Woods. We have to slow down. We both had a lot to drink.” Lexa pouted a little.

“I’m not drunk, Clarke. Just a tad inebriated.” Clarke nodded,

“Okay, superstar, but until you can walk a straight line, you’re not getting anything out of me.”

“Straight line? Impossible.” Clarke giggled,

“Oh my gosh, was that a gay joke? That was really bad babe.”

“I know. I completely regret it.” Lexa let her head drop onto Clarke’s shoulder.

“Don’t worry. I won’t hold that over you for long,” Clarke stood up and held out a hand, “Come on, let's get you some water.” She pulled Lexa off the couch, leading her to the kitchen.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

“So I grabbed my stuff from Anya’s room.” Lexa lifted her duffel as evidence, setting it down at the foot of the bed. The bed that her and Clarke would be sharing for the rest of their weekend. The bed that Clarke was laying upside down on.

“Okay, everyone asleep?”

“Lincoln and Octavia were still talking downstairs.” Clarke smiled,

“They are really cute together.” Lexa nodded, grabbing her pajamas.

“I’m going to shower really fast. Or did you wanna go first?” Clarke rolled over and got up on her knees.

“Or,” Clarke moved to the edge of the bed, “We don’t have to take turns.” Lexa looked at her girlfriend confused for a moment and then, “Like together?” Clarke smirked. Lexa smiled, “I mean, I did drink a gallon of water. So I should be okay, right? For uh, showering. Together.” Clarke stood up, meeting Lexa in the middle of the room. She pulled Lexa in for a kiss. She felt a now sober tongue swipe against the bottom of her lip. She couldn’t hold in a moan that caused Lexa to smile.

“You think you're hot stuff, huh?” Clarke poked her smirking girlfriend in her brick wall of a stomach.

“I do. Maybe you should help me cool down.” Clarke started to step backwards towards their bathroom.

“It might take a while. You’re too hot for your own good.”
“Earlier you were talking about how I am too cute.” Clarke reached for the hem of Lexa’s shirt, pulling it over her head. She threw the shirt to the side, giving a slow appreciation for the body underneath.

“You are,” Clarke’s hands pressed against Lexa’s stomach, “Too much of something.” Lexa pushed forward, kissing Clarke into the bathroom. They were fumbling with zippers and clasps until there was nothing left between them.

“I’ve been waiting,” Lexa breathed against Clarke’s neck, “all week for this.” Clarke hummed in agreement, rubbing her hands up and down Lexa’s back. At some point, Lexa must have turned on the shower head as the sound of water filled the room. Clarke was having a hard time standing on her own as Lexa continued to kiss her neck, her collarbone, down her chest, over her stomach, and-

“Fuck Lex.” Clarke breathed out, her hand held Lexa’s head in place as she felt her tongue move. Lexa kept her hands on Clarke’s thighs, smiling at the noises her tongue was eliciting. She wanted to be there all night if that meant she got to hear,

“Oh fuck baby. Don’t stop.” She didn’t. She would never.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

“Do you think about getting married?” Clarke asked, propped up on her elbow, looking down at her girlfriend. Their shower ended hours ago and they filled their time with the same activity. Now they were lying in bed together, just talking. Lexa had an arm around Clarke’s hip, facing her as Clarke dragged her finger along any portion of exposed skin.

“I haven’t really thought about it till recently.” She felt her face heat up as she watched Clarke give her a loving smile. Lexa tried to backtrack,

“I mean, in terms of like, my sister. Her getting married has made me think about it, marriage and the future and stuff.” Lexa exhaled after she heard Clarke gave her an understanding hum.

“So what does your future look like?” Clarke asked. Lexa thought for a moment,

“Well ideally I would want to stay in town, close to my parents and family,” She watched Clarke nod, giving her the courage to continue.

“Hopefully, I’d still be with my parents’ firm because despite the paperwork, I love it.” She shared a smile with Clarke, “I don’t know. Maybe a big house with a big yard. Some kids, a few dogs.”

“A basketball hoop?” Clarke added. Lexa chuckled, rolling onto her back.

“Yes, a basketball hoop. If not for the kids, for me to let you win every so often.” The sentence flowed out so naturally that Lexa didn’t catch it, but Clarke did. She let Lexa continue.

“Anya and Raven would come over with their kids and we’d talk and eat dinner together. Octavia too, with whoever she locks down. Wherever Aden ends up, I would at least call the kid, if not every day, every other day. Sundays would still be for my parents, but the kids would be there all the time because they would probably have better snacks than us.” Clarke couldn’t hold back a smile, but Lexa kept rambling without even realizing.

“And I mean, whenever Abby wants to stop by with Marcus, or we could always go to theirs. The kids would probably love Abby’s cooking over mine.” Lexa nodded her head, trying to think of any last details.

“But yeah, the whole learning to ride a bike in the driveway, Fourth of July cookout, family movie night stuff.” She finally looked at Clarke,

“What about you?” Clarke said nothing. All she did was kiss the woman next to her who had unknowingly planned a life with her.

“What was that for?” Lexa questioned. Clarke answered with a sigh,

“You actually think that you’d let me win at basketball?”

“No, I know I’d let you win.”

“I’d kick your ass, Lexa Woods. No sympathy required.”

“Babe, you can kick my ass any day. But that’s only because I would let you.” Lexa smirked over at her girlfriend, who was not taking it. Clarke pushed her girlfriend flat on her back, moving directly on top of her.

“You want me to kick your ass now?” Clarke had her hands on either side of Lexa’s head. They moved to around her girlfriend’s shoulders as Lexa sat up slowly, centimeters from Clarke’s face. Her arms were wrapped around Clarke, pulling their bodies as close together as possible.

“Absolutely.” Lexa smirked before kissing Clarke with force. A set of moans came from Clarke as Lexa dragged her hands up from their place on Clarke’s waist to the sides of her breasts. Clarke’s hips began to move as Lexa palmed Clarke with one hand while the other went back to Clarke’s waist to keep her in place. Kisses got sloppier as Clarke’s hips started to move with consistency. Lexa rolled Clarke’s nipple between her fingers as her mouth moved down her chest to greet the other. She sucked harder when she heard a whimper.

“I hate,” Clarke breathed, her hands threaded through Lexa’s hair, “how good you are at everything.” Lexa tried not to laugh and lose all her progress. She switched sides, which only made Clarke moan with the change in sensation. It took all her concentration to not get distracted by the repetition of Clarke against her stomach. To not get distracted by the fingers gently tugging at her hair. To not get distracted by the noises.

“You’re really good at that.” Lexa gave in and pulled away to speak. Clarke had her eyes closed, her eyebrows creased at the center,

“Good at what?” Her hips never faltered. Lexa kissed her way back up to Clarke’s lips.

“The noises. I really like the noises. You’re good at the noises.” Clarke finally opened her eyes,

“I can be really fucking fantastic if you fuck me, Lex.” Lexa had Clarke on her back just as fast as it took her to get Clarke off. The build up had Clarke crashing along with all the obscene language and sounds that Lexa thrives on.

“Fuck baby. I need a second.” Clarke took a moment to catch her breath while Lexa laid next to her, kissing the side of her head.

“I think we should go to bed, babe. It’s almost three.” Clarke groaned,

“But Lex, I need to return the really, really good favor.” Lexa chuckled,

“It’s not an IOU, Clarke.” It was at that moment she felt a hand lightly graze the inside of her thigh. She held in a groan as she closed her eyes to concentrate.

“Did I lose you Lex?” She could hear the smile on Clarke’s face without even seeing it.

“Clarke.” Lexa warned. The hand moved higher,

“If you're tired baby, just say so. If not,” Clarke’s thumb found a comfortable position in between Lexa’s legs, “Just make the noises. I really like the noises.” Before Lexa could ask if she was mocking her, she felt a tongue on her nipple. It moved faster after Lexa couldn’t hold in a whimper.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

“So Clarke, how was your night last night? Let me just say before you answer, I am assuming it was spectacular since you are the one who is up and Lexa is still upstairs asleep.” Raven poured herself another cup of coffee, waiting for her friend to confirm her suspicions. Clarke looked down at the coffee in front of her as Octavia sat quietly next to her.

“We were up late talking.” Clarke conceded that portion of the evening to her friend, saving the intimate details for herself. Raven didn’t buy it,

“Mhm, I bet there was a lot of some sort of communication going on.” Clarke squinted at her smirking friend.

“Wait, why are you interrogating me? You already know Lexa and I had sex, shouldn’t you be questioning Octavia?” Octavia scoffed, as Raven turned her attention over to her.

“Ah yes, my straight best friend. How was your night?” Clarke smiled over at Octavia, successfully taking the attention off of her long evening. Octavia, on the other hand, couldn’t hold in a smile.

Raven squealed at the action, “Oh my god! My straight best friend and my fiancé’s cousin! This is perfect! You and Lincoln. Clarke and Lexa. We have successfully infiltrated this family.” Clarke shook her head,

“Why do you have to phrase it like that?” Raven shrugged, taking one long sip of coffee. Octavia took a glance around,

“Where’s Emori?”

“She’s talking to Murphy.” Raven drawled out the name of her friend’s potential boyfriend. The poor girl, despite having a fantastic weekend with her friends, missed the boy she had been talking to for a few weeks now.

“That’s the guy who works with you guys.” Raven nodded,

“He came out with us a couple times. I’ve been trying to get her to ask him to be her plus one for the wedding, but she keeps rolling her eyes and shh-ing me.” Clarke chuckled,

“I should try that.” Raven made a face at her friend before looking over her friend’s shoulder to the new person entering the room.

“Good morning, Lexi! Sleep well? Or not at all?” Before Clarke could turn around, she felt an arm come around her waist and lips against the side of her head. She felt Lexa grumble a ‘morning’ on her temple. Clarke looked up at a tired Lexa, her hair up in a bun and kissed her good morning before offering her the rest of her coffee.

“How long have you been up?” Lexa mumbled into the mug. Clarke held onto the hand around her waist,

“Just an hour. We were making breakfast. Did you sleep okay?” Lexa made noise of affirmation, trying to hide the smile behind her tiredness. Clarke noticed.

“I slept great thanks for asking.” Raven mentioned, earning an eye roll and shh from Clarke. The rest of the Woods family eventually stumbles into the kitchen, just as tired. Anya rested her head on Raven’s shoulder, while Lincoln spent a prolonged time gazing into the refrigerator. The addition of more conversation allowed Clarke to stand up from her seat and pull a drowsy Lexa out the back door, onto the patio couch.

“Come here, sleepy. It’s getting pretty crowded in there. Lets wake you up slowly.” Clarke wrapped her arms around her sleepy girlfriend. Lexa tucked her legs in and rested her head on Clarke’s chest. She hummed in content as Clarke rubbed her shoulders, down to her arms, and back up to her shoulders. She closed her eyes and focused on the sounds of Clarke breathing accompanied by the waves of the lake and the wind through the trees.

“Thank you, babe.” Clarke barely heard what Lexa whispered,

“What did I do?”

“You just,” Lexa sighed, “I don’t know,” She stretched out her legs, pushing her back further into Clarke, “You just know what I need.” Clarke hummed into the side of Lexa’s head.

“Mmm. Call me the Lexa whisperer.” She felt Lexa let out a light chuckle.

“Thank you for coming this weekend.” Clarke kissed Lexa’s temple,

“Thank you for making this weekend really fun.” Another kiss against Lexa’s temple. They sat for a moment together, the noises from their friends inside reminding them that it wasn’t just the two of them in a cabin in the woods.

“I think I really needed this weekend.” Clarke exhaled, squeezing her arms around her girlfriend.

“Me too, but I’m kinda excited to go back.”

“Mmm. To go back to work.” She felt Lexa shake her head and let out a yawn.

“Not work, really. To go back to my life,” Lexa stretched out her arms, “with you as my girlfriend.” Clarke giggled, pinching Lexa’s side.

“You’re too cute.” Lexa sighed,

“Clarke, stop calling me cute.” Lexa turned her head to look up at her girlfriend. The sun lit up her face, bringing out the color in her eyes. Lexa extends to kiss the smile beaming down at her.

“Well, you keep giving me reason to.”
