Chapter Text

Students left the class quickly, leaving only 5 students. Midoriya and Bakugou, and 3 others that Midoriya hadn't bothered to remember the names of. 2 more.

“If you need a second to let your parents know that you’re staying, go ahead and tell them.” The teacher said while walking towards the board.

Midoriya pulled out his phone and texted his mother.

Izu: Hey mom, I gotta stay after school for a bit

Mom: Is everything ok? How long?

Izu: Its fine, for the festival coming up

Izu: Kacchan is with me and we’ll be done in about 30 min

Mom: Ok, tell him to come home with u

Mom: We’re all eating dinner together

Izu: I will, thanks

‘Crap… Now I have to talk to him? 2 more for this.’ Midoriya sighed before walking toward Bakugou.

“Hi Kacchan.” Midoriya said quietly.

“What, deku.” Bakugou questioned. Midoriya instinctively took a step back.

“Your parents are at my house right now and they want you to walk with me.” Midoriya rushed out. Bakugou looked stunned for a second before it turned aggressive.

“Haaah? Like I’d walk with a weak Deku like you.” Bakugou snarled. He wasn’t loud, like normal. He looked a lot calmer.

The teacher turned around before Midoriya could respond.

“Alright. I’m assuming we’re all good, since none of you have left. Let’s continue. Everyone grab a chair.” The teacher pulled his chair up to the front of the class.

Everyone was quick to grab chairs and pull them to the front. Bakugou sat right next to Midoriya, who was already sitting down. Midoriya automatically tensed.

“I need to know what days you are all free.” the teacher said, pulling out a piece of paper.

“I’m free all the time.” One guy with a long nose said, slightly smug. The teacher nodded, writing something down on the paper.

“I’m free on Mondays and Wednesdays.” sneered a girl with long honey-brown hair reaching her mid-back, annoyed.

“I’m free on Thursdays.” a girl with square glasses stated, in a diplomatic way.

“I’m free whenever needed.” Midoriya whispered, shaky and quietly.

“I’ll show up whenever I damn well feel like.” Bakugou snarled.

The teacher nodded and wrote down all the days.

“Are you all free on Weekends? Somewhere between 9am and 2pm?” He asked.

Most looked toward the others with a shrug and nodded back to the teacher.

“Alright. After school, we can practice until 5pm. Weekends can be from 9 to 2.” The teacher spoke. “Tomorrow, I will give scripts for you to learn. Starting Wednesday, The schedule will begin, and will last until the Festival.”

“I won’t hold you any longer, so you are free to leave. Bring a pair of clothes to change into tomorrow.” The teacher called out while walking out of the room.

The kids put all their chairs back, and grabbed their backpacks. Midoriya was ignored for the most part, with a couple ‘ freak’ s thrown in.

Walking out of the school, Midoriya was surprised to see Bakugou standing there, looking very annoyed.

“K-kacchan?” Midoriya called out, getting Bakugou’s attention. He looked over before stopping Midoriya.

“Damn nerd, I have to walk you, remember? Or did your useless ass brain forget?” Bakugou questioned, obviously pissed. He turned around and walked off.

“I-I t-thought you didn’t want t-to..”  Midoriya trailed off, running to catch up to him

“I don’t have a choice. Your mom asked me to. I’m not gonna say no to her.”

Midoriya didn’t respond to that. They walked in silence for a while.

As they approached the apartment, Midoriya took a second to breathe and clear his face.

The door opened and you could smell the food and Midoriya smiled.

“Hey mom! We’re home!” Midoriya yelled into the house.

“Hi, Izuku! You and Katsuki can sit down. Dinner’s almost done.” Inko yelled back to the boys.

Midoriya nodded to himself, while taking off his shoes.

Midoriya turned to Bakugou. “Y-you can sit in the living room. I n-need to get s-something from my room.”

Bakugou shook his head, a clear way of saying ‘I’m following you’. Midoriya walked towards his room, Bakugou right behind him.

As soon as the door closed, Bakugou walked up to Midoriya, who backed up.

“Show me your wrists, Deku.” Bakugou demanded. Midoriya’s eyes widened and he took a step back.

“W-what? Why?” Midoriya said, holding his hands to his chest. He didn’t cut there but he did have stuff written on his arm that he’d rather not have people see.

Bakugou growled, and shot his hand out to grab Midoriya’s Elbow. Midoriya squeaked and tried to pull his arm back. Bakugou was a lot stronger than Midoriya and overtook his arm quickly.

Midoriya’s sleeves were pulled up and you could see the words written.

There it was, a string of seemingly random numbers written in black ink.

To the average person, it doesn’t mean much, but to Bakugou who had heard the mutterings from the green haired boy earlier, it finished the puzzle building in Bakugou’s head.

It was a tally system

Bakugou’s eyes widened before looking up at Midoriya.

“L-let me g-go. Please..” Midoriya pleaded, eyes shining in a flurry of emotions. Bakugou looked pale.

Bakugou’s hand trembled around Midoriya’s wrist before he let go as if his skin was burned.

Midoriya walked to his closet pulling out a pair of dark gray shorts up to mid-thigh and a black T-shirt.

Bakugou turned around, not wanting to watch Midoriya change. It was completely silent, except rustling.

“What made you think I cut?” Midoriya asked, completely monotone. It freaked Bakugou out with how calm he was.

“You were mumbling about a razor in class. Pretty fucking easy to connect the dots.” Bakugou snapped.

“Damn, I need to learn how to control that.” Midoriya murmured, more to himself.

“Oh well, you can turn around now.” Bakugou turned around to face Midoriya who was sitting on  the edge of the bed.

Bakugou sat next to him as Midoriya’s shorts rode up, showing the thin lines running down.

Most were faded, with a couple being slightly more red. The most noticeable were the ones made with the pen since it’s brighter.

“I can see the scars on your leg, Deku.” Bakugou hissed, quieter than normal.

“Sure, but they’re just that; scars, Kacchan. From a while ago.” Midoriya stated, knowing how that would’ve been a lie if he was left alone.

“Then why are there bright red ones?” Bakugou questioned.

“It's a pen. Better than the razor.” Midoriya said, rubbing one of the lines away to show Bakugou.

“Fine. Damn Nerd. Last question. Why?” Bakugou asked, tone becoming more sincere.

Midoriya sighed, expecting this. “Look Kacchan-” “No. I don’t want any bullshit excuse for an answer!” Bakugou interrupted. Midoriya looked up, offence plastered on his expression.

”Excuse me!? Who do you think you are! You don’t get to come in here, D-demanding answers that you don’t deserve to have!” Midoriya yelled, although it was considerably quieter than it could've been.

“I don’t deserve an answer!? Why the fuck not!!” Bakugou argued back, annoyed.

“I hate myself! Huh? Is that what you want to hear!?” Midoriya shouted.

Bakugou felt the annoyance and indignation building up immediately crumble under shock.

Midoriya seemed to have lost his steam too, shoulders slumping and with a sigh, he laid back onto the bed, facing the ceiling.

It went silent for a while, no one wanting to break the thick silence around them. The only noises being the unknowing adults in the other room.

“I’ve lost interest in whether I live or die.” Midoriya admitted quietly, “I just don’t -or rather- can’t care. Not anymore.” Bakugou winced, not really expecting such a blunt answer.

Midoriya shook his head, and turned to Bakugou. “It doesn’t matter anyways. I’ve got better things to worry about.”

Bakugou looked over to Izuku. “Oh? And what’s that?”

Izuku looked smirked. “Hello Danny Zuko .” Izuku burst into laughter as Bakugou yelled insults.

The parents in the Kitchen laughed at the noises from the room.
