Chapter Text

“So what’s up with you and hyung?” Jimin asks a few days later. Yoongi doesn’t even look up from the notepad that he’s writing on, gossip between the members is pretty low in his list of priorities.

“I don’t know what you mean,” he answers. That’s his go-to answer for everything. Did you use Jungkook’s expensive shampoo? Did you borrow Jungkook’s underwear again without permission? Did you eat the last of the lamb-skewers that Jungkook was saving for after practice? Everything can be answered with a simple ‘I don’t know what you mean’ even if the answer is always yes.

“You totally know what I mean,” Jimin says, getting all over Yoongi’s face. Yoongi scratches off a verse again, too cheesy, try again but to the left this time.

“I absolutely don’t know what you mean, and unless this has something to do with you wanting to have some creative input in the upcoming album, I’d advise you to leave me be.”

“You tell him!” says Yongsoo from inside his head “King shit!”

“You’re so boring, you could’ve made out with hyung, our hyung who feeds us and is like the prettiest person in the whole world, and not have told us at all!” says Jimin, as if it’s any of their business.

“How is that your problem? Also, I haven’t kissed Jin-hyung at all,” Yoongi says, finally looking up. Jimin is doing that pout that he does whenever he doesn’t get his way.

“Hyung,” he draws out the vocals in the word like a child “how am I supposed to live vicariously through you if you don’t tell me anything? Your life is the most exciting out of all of us.”

“Taehyung is literally rubbing elbows with famous actors-”

“Do not remind me.”

“And Namjoon is getting calls from American artists-”

“That little traitor.”

“How am I the one with the most exciting life? All I do is sleep and work.”

“And get possessed by like, a super scary-awesome demon?”

“I thought you hated the demon, I thought you were scared or whatever,” Yoongi finishes, looking down at his notepad to resume his writing.

“I’m growing used to having him around, he makes you a bit more honest…”

“What are you talking about?” Yoongi asks.

“You know exactly what I mean,” Jimin says, gathering his things and standing up. Yoongi looks at his notepad again and scoffs.

“I don’t know what you mean,” all he hears is a frustrated sigh before Jimin slams the door closed.

As the group sits for their weekly meetings to promote team building or whatever it is the company calls it. There is something in the atmosphere that Yoongi can’t quite put his finger on, maybe it’s the fact that he is still somewhat irritable from Yongsoo sapping his energy to do whatever it is that he does whenever he goes “apartment hunting” not like there’s much energy to sap anyways, Yoongi is too tired from working nowadays. Maybe it’s the way that their recent schedule has everyone exhausted and without any energy to talk to each other during their off periods. Maybe it’s the way that Taehyung has grown warier and warier of Yongsoo as the days go by, something sure is up with that boy, he is getting snappier by the second.

“Maybe it’s Maybelline, why don’t you shut up and let me rest in peace?” Yongsoo snaps in his mind, and the loudness of his voice makes Yoongi jump.

“You good?” Namjoon asks, not looking up from his phone.

“Yeah just Yongsoo being a pest,” answers Yoongi. Yongsoo doesn’t even bother with a snappy comeback.

“I think we need to talk,” says Taehyung from the corner, eyeing Yoongi suspiciously “I think your… uh… buddy there has been trying to haunt me.”

“Oh no, not again,” says Hoseok with a whine “I’m so tired of demons! Isn’t it enough that he’s controlling Yoongi-”

“I am in total control of my body!” argues Yoongi.

“I also have no interest in controlling your little friend!” says Yongsoo, angry at the attack.

“Are you though? Because I’ve heard you going up and down the halls every night and knocking on my door and I’m tired!” argues Taehyung, getting angrier by the second.

“Let me talk to him,” says Yongsoo, angry as well.

“No, I will be the one to talk to them!” answers Yoongi, which in turn further upsets Hoseok and Taehyung.

“See! He’s going crazy!”

“Taehyung, calm down, hyung isn’t going crazy,” Namjoon finally jumps in, talking with an authority that he isn’t characteristic of him “Hoseok, get off of the couch, you’re stepping all over Jimin and Jungkook.”

“But-”

“Hoseok, he said get off,” interrupts Jin, standing up to take Hoseok off of the couch. Jimin and Jungkook just stare at the fight happening, too stunned to say anything.

“No! I’m tired-”

“We’re all tired, Taehyung,” says Jin, rolling his eyes.

“And I want the demon out! This shouldn’t have to be something that we should be even discussing!”

“Alright, I think we need to calm down,” says Namjoon, standing up and physically getting between Taehyung and Yoongi, who is still trying to get Yongsoo not to jump into the fight.

“You need to be a leader and get that out of here! It’s affecting all of us!”

“Taehyung, I don’t appreciate your tone at all,” Namjoon turns to look at Taehyung, who huffs. In the small second in which Yoongi has turned his attention towards his teammates, Yongsoo finally takes over.

Yoongi doesn’t feel his body convulsing as he fights for power over his body, but he does hear the panic and frightened gasps that his teammates let out. He vaguely registers Jungkook holding him by the arms to avoid him falling to the floor and the cold hands that stop his head from twitching are big and nice against his burning skin. Yongsoo takes over his body and he is shut out of any decision that pertains to his body, but for whatever reason it hurts. Has it always been like this? He feels like before whenever Yongsoo possessed him he didn’t feel anything out of the ordinary, now, for some reason, he feels like he has been thrust into fire.

“Yongsoo, let Yoongi speak,” he hears Jin say.

“I am very tired of the way that this little shit is treating me! As if I don’t have feelings!”

“You’re literally a demon, and you’re possessing our friend, forgive us for not being as cordial as we usually are,” Jin replies, unafraid and with a little bit of humor in his voice. Surprisingly, it works and Yoongi feels Yongsoo calm down.

“It’s not like I ever wanted to hurt anyone!”

“You’re a demon!” Taehyung says “all you do is hurt people! That’s literally your job!”

“Boy if you don’t shut up-”

“Taehyung calm down, Yongsoo, calm down,” Jin says.

“All I ever wanted was a good shelter for the time being and to help Yoongi get closer to you, that could get me in serious trouble you know? Demons aren’t supposed to help humans!”

“You haven’t been anything other than a nuisance!” says Taehyung, and Yoongi is very surprised. Usually Taehyung likes to remain a bit more calm and a bit less nasty during fights. Then again, this isn’t charted territory.

“I will kill you, I’m not joking,” Yongsoo threatens, but Jin’s hands are in Yoongi’s face again, looking deep into his eyes.

“Yongsoo, I know that you only mean well, how about you let Yoongi talk to us so we can sort this out?”

It takes a second, a very long second of Yongsoo using Yoongi’s eyes to look into Seokjin’s, but the demon’s resolve falters and he nods. Curse Seokjin and his beautiful face that must’ve been carved by God or the Devil, it moves something within Yongsoo and makes him want to do good.

“I’m sorry, Yoongi, that wasn’t cool,” he finally concedes.

“It wasn’t, I didn’t like it not one bit,” Yoongi replies, but the pain stops and he is allowed to take back the control of his body.

“Jungkook, you can let him go now,” says Jin softly, hands still on Yoongi’s face “you okay?”

“I’m good,” Yoongi mumbles “I just feel like we need to lay down.”

“That sounds good, go lay down.”

“But what about our talk?” Taehyung asks, still infuriated and red in the face.

“That can wait, and you can go reflect in your words and behavior before we talk again,” says Namjoon softly, holding Taehyung by the shoulders. Jimin, who in Yoongi’s lapse of control had walked over to his best friend and self-proclaimed soulmate, takes Taehyung by the hand and whisks him away.

“Jungkook, why don’t you go and get us some tea? I’ll take Yoongi to our room,” says Seokjin, leading Yoongi away.

In their room, Yoongi gets to lay down next to Seokjin, who doesn't really bother putting him in his own bed. Jungkook comes over with some tea and sets it in the nightstand quietly, eyeing the two grown men with a suspicious look.

"Don't say anything," says Jin with a wink. Jungkook scoffs and walks away.

"As if it's any of my business," he says, but winks back at his eldest brother.

"Are you okay Yoongi-chi?" asks Seokjin, propping Yoongi up. The younger man nods, but remains slumped against Seokjin. In the inmensity of Jin's bed, with all of the man's pillows and plushies, burrowed underneath his fifty-thousand blankets, he feels comfortable, at peace finally. He hasn't felt like this since everything started. Yongsoo has either left temporarily or

"Do you still feel and hear what you talk about when Yongsoo takes over?" Seokjin asks softly, looking at him as Yoongi sips on his tea. The weird angle makes it hard for him not to spill the drink all over Seokjin's soft shirt.

"I can," Yoongi admits.

"Ah, so you know that he told me that you wanted him to help you get my attention?"

"... Yeah I guess," says Yoongi, not really knowing what to say and not really knowing what to do anymore. The fight before has frayed his nerves to the point of emotional numbness. Yoongi reaches over to set his tea in the nightstand and lays back down. There is a comfortable silence that lulls him to sleep, with Seokjin's arm wrapped around him and Yoongi's face pressed against his chest.

"You know, maybe you didn't need a demon to tell me how you felt," Seokjin whispers, and it's the last bit of sound that he registers before he falls asleep.
