Summary:

Jumin lived a perfectly busy and normal day to day life.

Notes:

Oops I misinterpreted the prompt I feel like. If anyone ends up having too much of a problem with that, perhaps I'll write a bonus chapter to make up for it. I apologize.

Chapter Text

Jumin woke up anywhere between 3:45 to 4 am, no alarm needed. It didn’t matter when he went to bed, if he slept at all, this is when he woke up. It was before sunrise, the bittersweet ending of the night. He could keep his penthouse dark, enjoy the darkness, getting a glass of wine and a hot drink in a corner. It was a small desk and a large chair, with nothing but two stacks of books on the desk, and a lamp that gave off a very dull light.

He would sit there, reading in the dull light, until he spotted the first rays of the sun. He would then turn off the light and watch, enjoying the site until the alarm went off at 5am. He hated that alarm, that alarm was the reminder that he had to now slowly blend into society.

It started with the emails, his laptop by his side while he was eating his breakfast, Elizabaeth curled up at his feet. He would quickly browse the calendar, adding more reminders based on the emails. Then he would send and receive messages from Jaheee, exchanging any information that either party needed getting dressed in his best, always ready 3 minutes before Driver Kim showed up. It was when he was being driven to work that he would log on to the RFA chat, saying his good mornings.

The first thing he had to do when he came to his office was look in his drop box, which was usually full of generic office announcements and the weekly reports from departments. He knew what keywords and specific stats he had to scan for, so despite there being over 30 pages a day in there, he could usually get through the pile in about 4 minutes.

From there, it was time to do his own research.

Taking information from trusted news sources, a couple of employees, Jaehee, and 707 when he wasn’t being annoying, he could always make pretty good financial decisions and have better outcomes from the company. It was why no one ever had any doubt for him being next in line, no one could even come close to the results that he could produce.

No one knew the only reason he could produce such results was because his life was work. Work and nothing else.

Well. A lovely lady at home with gorgeous white fur. But in order to spoil her he needed to work.

He always scheduled his meetings after lunch, he didn’t like dealing with people when they were hungry. A good bunch of people now and days liked skipping breakfast, but never lunch. You got more productivity done with full stomachs that were not eagerly looking at the clock.

It was usually about 4 meetings a day, 6 if things have managed to be backed up. After the several meetings with several different departments, he would spend the last two hours or so in his office determining which paperwork he should bring home with. He usually organized it by date, then after that need, so that he was never late or never missed a deadline, and that anything that needed to be handled was as quickly as possible.

It was finally time to go home, chatting with the RFA as he strolled outside, Driver Kim being the one who waits for him in the evenings. This is when he did most of the talking on RFA, as well as the planning and discussions for it. During this time and the time during the early nights, were the times he was mentally the furthest away from work. It was never completely off his mind, and he would never admit it, but it was pretty damn close to relaxing.

The final bits of work related activity was pretty relaxing too, since it was usually him on the couch, laptop on his lap, and Elizabeth right next to his, purring up a storm, happy to see her master home. He went through the paperwork, only stopping to eat dinner for an hour and a half, finally deciding to stop work around midnight.

At this point, he dressed down, put what he needed to take to work right next to the door, and slowly crawled into bed, his faithful companion following. He had lived like this for several years, repetition not being a concern of his. This is what he told himself. He didn’t care for feelings that were stirring at the bottom of his heart. He was doing what was right for society. He had his luxury, his friend, and even a blessing from the heavens in the form of Elizabeth the 3rd. He didn’t need anything else or want anything else.

Sometimes those doubts kept him up at night, even with several glasses of wine.
