Chapter Text
Kara was giggling at something that Nia had said when her brain just went-
Eye goddess alert! Eye goddess alert!
And turning to her left, it turned out her spidey tingle was right on point. Coming out of Ms. Grant's office was none other than the woman's she had once proven the theory of gay panic to by making a complete fool of herself in front of.
Lena .
Lena something.
Kara could never focus all her brain cells together to remember anything else but those four letters of her name.
Lena.
Leeenaaa.
She began to sing the woman's name in her head to different pitches, finding out that whatever pitch or tune she sung it in, it always sounded magical.
Leeeeenaaaa.
"Kara?" Nia said, somewhere from a distance.
Leeiinyaaa.
"Kara?" far far away Nia said, sounding a bit desperate.
Leeeeeee-
" Kara? I didn't know you worked for Cat Grant." Nia sai-
Wait.
Kara blinked her eyes open to those green ones that she once stood on a stool for.
Oh Rao, oh Rao, oh Rao, she's standing in front of me.
"Kara? Are you alright?" The confused woman said.
Say something. Last time you talked too much and now you can't even say one word!! Take the stupid shoe out of your mouth!!
"Oh, Hi..." she began, before suddenly realizing something.
What in Rao's name was her name?!!!
Kara began to panic. And not just gay panic but also standing-in-front-of-an audience-on-a-stage-even-though-you-have-stage-fright panic!!
Leeyana?
"H-hiii..."
Come on, brain! Just give me this one thing!
"Lee!" she went with, giving the woman an awkward Cheshire smile, "H-hi, Lee." she chuckled. Somehow her brain took control and ordered her hand to fist Bump the woman's shoulder like she was a high school jock saying hi to his buddy. "How's it hangin'?" her brain decided to end with.
Come on, brain! Focus with me here!
The woman, Lee, stood there frozen with a confused smile for a second before speaking, "I see you're as..." she smiled even more, "Vibrant and surprising as always. I was just hangin'- " Kara did air quotes in her head for that word, "-with Ms. Grant to discuss some shared projects with CatCo and L-Corp."
"L-Who now?" Kara asked, quickly trying to catch up with the conversation.
"Oh, you don't..." The woman began, the confused expression on her face increasing. "Well, L-Corp is actually-"
"Lena!" Kara blurted out suddenly remembering.
"Yes?" Lena was startled.
"Hmm?" Kara feigned innocence, just pretending that she didn't just scream the woman's name.
"You-you said my name."
Kara nodded very slowly, processing it through, "Yes. Yes, I did. I umm I know your name and I said out loud and I've heard you say my name as well and I think we umm are now on equal ground."
Yeah, that made total sense. Phew, really saved myself there. That was a close one.
Once again, Lena stood there confused, but with a smile on.
Kara was too busy reciting her name over and over again so she wouldn't forget it again.
Lena. Lena. Lena.
L E N A
It's literally 4 letters! I could remember 4 letters, right?! Oooooh, her eyes are extra green today! Maybe I can-
"Kara?!"
"Hmm?" Kara jumped.
"You're doing it again."
"Doing what?"
"Staring." Lena chuckled, "Though I do appreciate it, it's quite flattering, but I must get back to work. Are we still on for lunch on Thursday?" she asked majestically, like she was some duchess of some royal co-
"Kara?"
"Hmm?" Kara shook her head, "Lunch. Mhmm." she nodded, not trusting her brain to utter the word 'yes'.
"Splendid. I'll see you then. Oh, and Kara?" she smirked, gradually and slowly killing the blonde with that smirk of hers. She leaned in to whisper, "I do hope you can be somewhat more articulate when we're doing our vows."
Kara choked. She almost forgot that she had smoothly proposed last time they had lunch.
"Have a pleasant day." Lena said, before walking off.
Kara would've sworn she was floating away. Like she was some mystical being from a-
"Kara?!" Nia snapped her fingers in front of her heart shaped pupils and brought her back to the land of the living.
"Hmm?" Kara said, waking up, "Where'd Lena go?"
Nia gave her an incredulous look, "What the hell was that?!"
"Too much eye contact." Kara exclaimed, cringing and wanting to dig her nails into her face from embarrassment, "and not enough actual words coming out of my mouth!"
