Chapter Text
It’s wedding day bitches.
Courting was a happy time, and seeing Wei Ying smile is all that he asks for.
But if one more person asks him how he feels, Lan fucking Zhan is going to shove his fist down their throats. He appreciated it at first, but it just gradually got more and more irritating. It’s all,
“How do you feel, Second Master Lan?” and, “Do you need anything to calm your nerves?” If it weren’t for the self-practiced control he’d been doing for years, fucking everyone off would’ve been the second best memory in his life. But he can’t do that no matter how little control he has because he’s Lan Wangji, the Second Jade of Lan, the cold and untouchable beauty.
So BiZui laughing at his misery like it’s the biggest joke on earth isn’t going to faze him. No, not at all.
(He would never admit that tying the stupid ribbon to a pole and watching him squirm and suffer was his favourite dream.)
“You shouldn’t be so mean to people who’re just worried about you. Gosh, children these days. No sense of respect. Unless this is your rebellious phase?” BiZui teases aloud (Lan Zhan does not think he should shut up more often, what are you talking about?) while secured around his forehead. His white is a stark contrast against the wine red Lan Zhan’s wearing.
The wedding outfit is quite a lovely sight to behold; the outer layer had intricate gold sewing on the fine red wine silk that must have been difficult to do. Even an amuateur like Lan Zhan could tell that this couldn’t have been an easy feat. The patterns were done with love, anyone could see, but the Lan clan would be lying if they’d said the clothing were cheap; though their money is a deepless trench, the robes took quite a bit from that endless pit.
But no matter how much effort was put into it, no matter how much love was poured into the sewing, no matter how expensive and beautiful it looks, and no matter how gorgeous it is on him, there’s no denying it’s uncomfortable as fuck.
“Your thoughts are so loud, kid. If you don’t like the outfit just go out there naked. I’m sure Wei Ying won’t mind,” BiZui says. Before Lan Zhan can give him a snappy remark however, Lan Xichen walks into the room.
“My, you look wonderful, Wangji,” he says, circling him.
Wonderful would be the last thing he describes himself in this get-up. Silly would be the first. But he’ll endure it for his Wei Ying.
“Are you ready to go?” Xichen asks.
“Mn.”
The area where the ceremony takes place is far from the classrooms. Though Lan Zhan and Wei Ying really should get married when they’re eighteen, their pleading puppy eyes, tears, and in Wei Ying’s case, wailing were just too much to handle. Yu Ziyuan looked slightly glad when she had heard the big troublemaker would be getting married, while Jiang Fengmian was a bit confused as to why they were getting married so early, but soon relented when they heard Wei Ying’s whines. With numerous students from different sects in Cloud Recesses as of right now, having the wedding take place in front of so many strangers would be quite awkward and invade the grooms’ privacy. And so an isolated and large area of land was the perfect place for this unexpected marriage.
“Now Wangji, you just have to stand here and not do anything until Wei Ying comes. The rest is up to your wedding etiquette you learned a week ago,” Xichen says while leading Lan Zhan where he should be standing. “Remember Wangji, during your wedding night, be gentle to Wei Ying. It’s exciting, yes, but preparations are important, especially if you don’t want your beloved to be hur-”
“Brother,” he cuts him off.
Lan Xichen smiles, one that’s too wide and friendly to be considered benevolent.
“Alright, alright, but remember the protection! You never know what could happen!” And with one last glare from his younger brother, Lan Xichen left.
“Haha! This is why your brother’s my favourite person. He always knows you too well that it’s impossible to hide things from him. Did you know that he tried to get you with Wei Ying before and you just totally trashed that chance with your horrible communication skills? Wei Ying thought you hated him! But now you’re getting married! How nice is that? And not to mention that it was through my help! Sheesh, what would you do without me?”
But before Lan Zhan could curse the ribbon on it’s idiocy (he would’ve done just fine without BiZui!), Wei Ying stepped in.
His soon-to-be husband had the same detailed and ornate golden designs sewed onto the fine red silk, but the only difference was that he had a veil on.
“Well would you look at that! I haven’t even seen his face yet, and I already know he’s going to be beautiful. I really did snag a good one!”
Lan Zhan ignores the ribbon in favour of looking at his love.
The tight and most probably uncomfortable crimson robes hugged Wei Ying’s figure nicely. His love had always had a small waist and a little more meat on the backside that Lan Zhan sometimes wanted to give it a little squeeze.
He doesn’t get to have more perverted thoughts though, since his vision is now filled with red.
Wei Ying.
Standing side by side now, they both have to use the wedding etiquette they learned a week ago to complete this wedding.
They both kowtow* three times; one to the heaven and earth, one to the parents, and one each other. Finally, Lan Zhan unties BiZui on his forehead and wraps it around Wei Ying’s wrist with one last tug at the ribbon.
No words were passed between them, not even the whispers Wei Ying likes so much. But why would they need any words when their gazes at each other are so full of warmth that anyone near them could tell they’re deeply in love.
The wedding ends and the now recently married couple head to their room full of silent talismans on the walls.
Wei Ying turns to him.
“Lan Zhan,” he breathes out. It’s soft, unlike the way he usually talks, but it’s layered with emotions strong enough to knock him out.
“Wei Ying,” he reciprocates.
The boy chuckles, light and teasing.
“Aren’t you going to lift the veil off, Lan Zhan? They did my face very prettily today, I’m sure you would like it.”
“Would always like Wei Ying.”
“Ah Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, you’re going to give me a heart attack one day,” he says in that soft voice. The teen huffs. “The veil, Er-gege. I want to see your handsome face.”
And so, with gentle hands (and burning ears), Lan Zhan latches onto the edge of the veil, and slowly lifts it up.
Oh.
Wei Ying is beautiful.
He’s always beautiful but something in the way his lips are painted red with a faint blush on his cheeks make him seem more heavenly. That must be why everyone was asking if he was okay, because they’d known how gorgeous his husband would be. The traitors. He’ll have to get his brother to do something about them.
“Lan Zhan?”
Ah. He’s been staring for too long.
“Wei Ying looks utterly exquisite.”
At this, the silver-eyed boy gives a shy smile.
“You think? It feels a little strange, like a second layer of skin, but if you think it looks good then I’ll wear it forever!”
“No. If Wei Ying does not like it then he doesn’t need to wear it.”
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying whines. “You’re so good.”
“Just for Wei Ying.”
He lets out another laugh.
“Lan Zhan, come on. They’ve set up this bed for us, it’ll be a shame if we don’t use it.”
“Mn.”
For once in his life, BiZui is quiet during their lovemaking.
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying calls, sweaty and breathless after the passionate sex. “I love you.”
Lan Zhan feels his heart rate speed up and ears tint at that. He thinks that even if the two were reincarnated a million times they would always find and love each other. And even if time changes, and even if their appearance resembles a pig, and even if they could choose whoever they’d like as their spouse, their love for each other would always outnumber anything else, because why wouldn’t it? And with that in his mind, Lan Zhan clutches his love’s hands, calluses and all, musters all of the affection he has, looks into his Wei Ying’s silver orbs and nods.
“I love you too, Wei Ying.”
