Chapter Text

Lunchtime rolled around, a time celebrated by all students. Kaminari especially, but his usual joy was bombarded by someone else, namely, Kirishima, who blocked his friend in from the hallway, keeping them both inside the empty classroom.

“Wh--I’m starving!” Kaminari complained.

“Sorry, man, I just have to talk to you,” Kirishima said, blocking Kaminari again when he tried to jump to the side. “You’re in a rush.”

“I just said I was hungry,” Kaminari sighed.

“This really won’t take long if you stop trying to sidestep me,” Kirishima huffed, blocking the blonde’s exit again.

“Okay, fine. What is it,” Kaminari groaned, crossing his arms. He was hungry, but he also had other things to do, like, meet up with someone for lunch.

“Recently, you’ve been hanging out with Bakugou a lot more,” Kirishima spoke up. “Why is that? I mean, you two aren’t usually the closest of friends, and I’m not mad! I’m happy! It’s just so weird and sudden, y’know? And it’s always just you two. I won’t judge you for being close--that’s not what it is,” Kirishima rambled, Kaminari waving his hands in the air.

“Woah, woah, okay! Okay! Shh!” Kaminari complained. “Quiet, hold on,” he urged, the redhead in front of him silently obeying. “We’re… just… in kahoots, y’know?”

“Huh?” Kirishima asked.

“No! Like… we’re both…” Kaminari waved a hand around.

“What?”

“Like--we’re blonde!”

“Yeah…?”

“Or--that made no sense, okay,” Kaminari grumbled. “Like, y’know, we’re,” the blonde tried, interlocking his fingers.

“Holding hands?”

“No, he doesn’t let me do that. Like, not--not so literal, not holding hands.”

“You’re… close?”

“Yeah! Sorta. Like, y’know,” Kaminari shuffled, making a kissy face at the redhead.

“You’re… kissing?”

“Uh, yes? Sure, sure, yes.”

“Him?”

“Yes.”

“You’re kissing Bakugou?”

“Yeah. Sometimes.”

“Why?”

“Kirishima, I…” Kaminari sighed. “How aren’t you getting this?”

“I’m confused, what do you mean?”

“We’re…” Kaminari tried, thrusting his hands forward with a pointed look.

Kirishima only shook his head slowly. “I don’t get it,” he said softly.

“Kirishima, please,” the electric blonde whined. “He’s gonna get mad at me--we’re… y’know. Like. Y’know.”

“I don’t know?”

“A…”

“A?”

“C. Starts with a c. He doesn’t want me to say it.”

“Why not?”

“Because--I dunno? He’s shy?”

“Wh--dude I’m confused.”

“We’re a c…” Kaminari trailed off, urging Kirishima to finish the sentence.

“A… c… Ac? Air conditioner?”

“No!”

“Just tell me, then, I don’t know!” Kirishima whined.

“Couple!”

“A couple?” Kirishima echoed, watching Kaminari nod slowly. The redhead took a moment to process the word, before he gasped, covering his mouth in shock. “Bro, no way! Seriously!?”

“Yes,” Kaminari sighed, laughing lightly. “We are.”

“When!”

“Man, I dunno, for like… a week, so far,” Kaminari smiled. “He’s… the best.”

“Aww, dude, that’s amazing! Why couldn’t you tell me earlier?” Kirishima frowned. “I wouldn’t have gotten mad at you!”

“Well, I didn’t know how you felt about gay people!”

Kirishima sighed, his face flushing a bright red. “I mean, I don’t… hate them, I--Im gay, so it would be dumb to hate them. They don’t deserve hate anyways!”

“You are!” Kaminari gasped.

“This isn’t about me, this is about you!” Kirishima complained, covering his face, the blonde in front of him laughing.

“Dude, no way! Seriously?”

“Yes…”

“Aww, I’m glad. Well like--glad you came out and whatever, or whatever. Bro hug?”

Kirishima laughed, smiling gently. “Bro hug. You have to tell everyone else too, though! I can’t believe it, you’re dating Bakugou… wow! Is it nice?” he asked.

“It’s fuckin’ amazing,” Kaminari grinned. “He’s all mean and harsh on the outside but he’s such a softie, it’s so adorable, man. He looks super cute when he’s napping, too, and he’s such a good cook, I think I’ll die!”

“Really? You gotta get him to cook for us,” Kirishima clapped, the shorter blonde laughing dumbly.

“Maaaybe. He’s still a dick, don’t get me wrong,” Kaminari sighed. “He’s hot. But he’s still a huge dick.”

“Don’t be rude, man, he’s our friend,” Kirishima laughed, gleefully stepping forward and wrapping his friend in a high hug. “I’m really proud of you, man. Y’know, like, having the confidence to do this and all that stuff. Can I tell everyone else?”

“No! No! He’s gonna literally choke me until I die, please don’t do that!” Kaminari gasped.

“Aw, man, no he won’t! You’ll be fine!” Kirishima beamed, parting from the hug, and snatching his back, Kaminari trying to chase the redhead as he left.

“Please, Kirishima, don’t do that!” Kaminari whined, chasing his friend down the hallway, their overlapping voices drifting through the empty hall, Kirishima’s laughter, and his friend’s pleas for mercy.

It was a sweet thing, love.

The lovebirds themselves had retreated to Kaminari’s room for the night after school, each piling their bags into a corner of the haphazard room. Kaminari jumped onto his bed with a dramatic groan, while Bakugou leaned back against the boy’s desk chair, watching Kaminari squirm on the bed.

“What the fuck are you doing.”

“Y’know, man,” Kaminari sat up, turning to Bakugou. “I told Kirishima about us, today.”

“What!” Bakugou snapped, his roaring voice prompting Kaminari to bury himself under his pillows, the albino blonde stomping over to rudely yank those pillows away. “I thought we fucking agreed that we wouldn’t do that!”

“Okay! Okay! Here’s the catch! I didn’t tell him, he found out!” Kaminari complained, shaking his head.

“Yeah? How the fuck did he find out, huh? You know that stupid redhead is dumber than you,” Bakugou hissed, shaking his boyfriend by the collar.

“One, rude, two, rude, and three, he just cornered me and was like, ooh, you and Bakugou have been hanging out a lot, are you dating, so I said, yes.”

“So you told him!”

“Not exactly!”

“You stupid piece of shit!” Bakugou groaned, dropping the boy back onto the bed, the front of Kaminari’s shirt a mess where it had been forcibly mangled, the electric blonde whimpering weakly as he lied back down.

“Don’t hate me,” he sighed, glancing over at Bakugou, the pale blonde taking a furious seat at the desk. “C’mon. Don’t hate me. Heyyy, c’mon.”

“Fuck off,” Bakugou grumbled, the male crossing his arms as he leaned back against the shair, mostly pissed off at his own hypocrisy. He had told Mdiriya himself, even though he was the one who kept saying he didn’t want to tell anyone. It was just easier to get mad at Kaminari than at himself, he had to admit that, but that didn’t mean it was fair. The blonde continued to ignore his boyfriend, for as long as he could, the familiar noise of Kaminari shuffling off the bed, and trying to tip toe behind him, even though that idiot was the worst at tip toeing. He felt a pair of arms wrap gently around his neck, Kaminari pressing himself against Bakugou’s shoulder, fluttering his lashes against the blonde’s cheek.

“Ew, stop it,” the blonde scoffed, Kaminari smiling gently.

“Butterfly kisses,” Kaminari laughed, and did it again, grazing his lashes against Bakugoou’s cheek.

“Stop it!” Bakugou ordered, the gentle touch urging a smile from the blonde, he refused, quickly stifling it.

“You’re smiling! So you’re not mad at me?” Kaminari asked.

“Shut the hell up, of course I am.”

“So that’s a no,” Kaminari sighed. “I’m sorry for telling him, y’know,” he said softly. “I should’ve respected what you said more,” he said, his voice gentle with remorse, the male reaching a hand down to get over Bakugou’s slender fingers.

“Whatever,” Bakugou muttered, shifting his hand up a bit, giving Kaminari access to take it into his hand, the yellow blonde lifting it to his lips, dotting sweet kisses across his knuckles. “Ugh, stop it,” the blonde sighed, covering his face with his free hand, in a frustrated attempt to hide his reddening cheeks.

“No way,” Kaminari smiled. “You blush when I do that. It’s cute,” he said. “Don’t you think we should, y’know. Let people know? We don’t have to say it outright, but having to hide it is gonna take its toll at some point,” he said softly, releasing Bakugou’s hand in favor of drawing shapes against his boyfriend’s shoulder.

Bakugou didn’t say anything.

“We can just be us. I promise, I won’t be as gross and lovey and mushy in public,” Kaminari droned, laughing softly, his voice like sweet sugar to the pale blonde, ringing in his ears with a gorgeous melody to make anyone fall asleep. “But I don’t wanna have to act like we barely know each other,” he smiled. “Kirishima didn’t mind. He was happy for me, really.”

“Deku doesn’t mind either,” Bakugou spoke up, his voice quiet.

“Oh? What, you told him?”

“Mmhm.”

“Y’fuckin’ hypocrite!” Kaminari gasped.

“Shut the hell up. He caught on anyways, he asked me over and over till I cracked,” Bakugou rolled his eyes.

“See? No one thinks badly of us,” Kaminari smiled. “I just want to be able to hold your hand in public, cuz mine get cold,” he complained, leaning in to press a kiss to Bakugou’s cheek. “Is that okay?”

“Fine, you fucking weirdo,” Bakugou scoffed. “It’s okay. Don’t you dare go overboard, though.”

“I won’t,” Kaminari promised, stroking his fingers along Bakugou’s shoulders, the two relishing in the oasis that was their love, fluffy and ethereal. It was still so precious, something that they only shared between each other, but soon enough, that was about to change.
