Chapter Text
Lori’s breathing was erratic, but she couldn’t worry about that as her legs swiftly brought her to the other side of the hall. She slammed the door open and let out the breath she was holding upon seeing Roman and Virgil huddled on her bed. Roman looked up.
“What happened?” He asked, a natural dominance etched into his voice.
Lori resisted a sudden temptation to roll her eyes, instead diving into the events that had just transpired and Deceits looming threats. By the end Roman was at a loss for words, which is never a good sign.
“He must be working with other dark sides,” Lori continued after she had finished her story, “Deceit is bad, b-but he's not evil. There must be something in it for him… some reason for making us run around like damn lab rats.”
Her voice shook, but she stood firm, staring down a still silent Princey.
“Did he give you any hints, about this… clue?” Roman eventually asked, looking up.
“No, just that Virgil had it, and we have to save him…” Lori glanced at the anxious trait shivering on his bed.
“But if he altered his memory, how the hell are we supposed to do THAT?!” Romans voice held both panic and rage as he slammed his foot into Lori’s wall.
She winced slightly, but decided not to dwell on it.
“Did he say what he gave him?” Roman rubbed his eyes, pacing.
“No… not really. He said ‘I hope my baby didn't hurt him too much’... I assumed he meant a drug or toxin of some sort…”
Lori closed her eyes, forcing her tired mind to run through the scene again, straining for some sort of convoluted clue, or hint hidden in the background. She could taste the iron blood on her tongue, and see the unnatural black covering most of her vision, only interrupted by Deciets snakeline features, she heard his overconfident hiss of a voice, and his laugh as he described plans for himself, and his only family to be hurt, tortured.
Deceit was working with someone, but who could it be? Not Virgil or-
“Logan!” Roman shook Lori’s shoulder breaking her thoughts, she looked up, bewildered.
“You were shaking Lo… I- I don’t think it’s safe for you to revisit that memory.”
