Chapter Text

Third Person POV

The commanders were in the arena, sparring one another while waiting for the campers to finish eating their breakfast.

From the campers' perspective, the commanders were just a blur. Their eyes could barely keep up with the match. The commanders moved like fish in water, movements quick and precise, it looked like a dance. When they saw one of the commander was pinned, and thought the match would end, said commander would quickly retaliate and their dance would start all over again. It was beautiful and dangerous at the same time.

When the last of the campers, including the hunters, campers from Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood, left the mess hall and trickled into the arena, the commanders ceased their sparring and Íroas spoke,

"Now that everyone is here, let us start the training."

The sun was setting when the commanders called it a day.

Campers wearing orange and purple shirts were on the ground, groaning in pain, chests heaving desperately for oxygen. The huntresses were already retreating to their cabin, supports one another up while dragging their legs towards the Artemis cabin.

The five commanders stood tall and proud, surrounded by bodies lying on the ground, with the sun slowly setting in the background, it truly was a sight to behold.

"I think I'm dying," A boy wearing orange lying on the sand with his front facing the ground gasped out. There was a small puddle of sweat forming beneath the boy.

"Same," The girl beside him rasped. She wasn't that well off, beads of perspiration rolled down her flushed face.

A boy shakily pointed his finger at commander Sotíras, the closest commander to him, and said,"You, sir-" He paused a while for a breath," and your friends are-" Another breath," evil, pure evil."

"Why, thank you. We certainly pride ourselves in that," The blue eyed commander replied, smiling cheekily.

The boy didn't bother to reply, he simply just let his body slump back onto the ground in exhaustion.

Commander Jäger kneeled beside the fallen boy and nudged his head with a stick.

  "I think he's dead."

"He'll be fine, just give him a day." Commander Sotíras replied, smiling without a care in the world.

  "He's definitely dead."

Angelica's POV, Camp Half-Blood Forest

Night had fallen upon Camp Half-Blood. Cicadas were chirping, the wind was howling, other than that, it was dead silent. While the children were sleeping and were already in the land of Morpheus, Angelica was not one of them. The cool wind of the night blew against her cheeks as she ventured forth in the darkness of the forest, leaves and branches crunching under her feet as she continued walking.

While her entire body was aching from the 'training', more like torture, from the day, she was glad to take a break from the planning for the future of Camp Half-Blood

The demigods were going through a stressful time now, with the recent attacks on camp and arrival of the Commanders, everyone must be feeling worried about the future of their home. And as the leader of camp, it was her responsibility to remain calm and reserved to support the campers in this time of distress. Angelica knew she should be thinking of ways to solve these problems, but for now, she just needed a break from all the craziness. So here she was, in the dead of the night, taking a stroll in the forest.

"...understood?" A voice cut through the silent night air.

Angelica stilled behind the tree beside her. Why was someone out here at this time and this particular place? The area was rumoured to have been where the hole to Tartarus once was, before it magically closed up after the legendary Perseus Jackson disappeared.

After that day, no one at camp really went to that area anymore. It was a thing that went unspoken, a thing which would not be spoken about.

But turning away from those depressing thoughts, Angelica tuned in back to the conversation at hand.

"Of course, my liege, but what of the plans for this camp?"

"We'll strike tomorrow when those incompetent humans and commanders least expect it. Remember to pass it on to the others. And also, call me by this body's name, I don't need you slipping up when we're in front of the campers."

"As you wish... Commander Jäger, we will-"

Angelica stepped back in shock. And to her luck, she just so happened to step on a twig, lucky me. A sharp snap echoed throughout the area.

"What was that." The first voice asked, cutting the other off.

Angelica held her breath, body trembling and internally praying. Please just leave it alone, please just ignore it, please.

"Hm, it was probably a dryad or a monster.

"Or perhaps a stray camper snooping around in the middle of the night," Suddenly, his voice was next to her ear.

Her head whipped around, heart pounding in her ears, to meet a pair of black eyes glinting in the dark. How did he...

"Goodnight Sleeping Beauty, perhaps this will teach you a lesson on why you shouldn't go around snooping in other people's business." Those were the last few words Angelica heard before her world went black.

It was at that moment, that she knew, she messed up.
