Chapter Text

Taking a marker with him, Ouma starts to record everything that he goes through and thinks about in his notebook. But now was the time for food, not writing. As he stood in line he had to truly think for a second about what a mental hospital would serve… shuttering slightly at the thought, he tried to switch topics, thinking more about how he was the only person in here that he knew of so far that has never been to a mental hospital.

Thinking back on Tenko’s story certain things line up, like why she was here and not out somewhere living her life happily without the ‘father’ who obviously didn't make her feel at home. As people got their food it was soon Oumas turn to grab some of what was left, reaching for a lone muffin left from breakfast until he saw another hand reaching for the same muffin. Instinctively he flinched back and closed his eyes tight, “J-just take it….” Ouma says to Saihara not even opening his eyes, he couldn’t stand to look at food being taken from him. It’s just like home all over again, he thought to himself. I’m going to starve i’m going to starve i’m going to starve i’m going to- “Open your eyes.”

“Huh?” doing as he was commanded to, he sees the muffin on his own tray. “But-”

“No buts. It’s all yours.” he smiles kindly, but it faded into more of a worried look. “Did something happen?” and to this Ouma gives a confused tilt of the head, that is until he realized he was crying just a bit.

“Ah… sorry it's nothing, I'm fine.” He avoids eye contact with Saihara, trying to dry his eyes but ends up spreading his tears all over his face, making him look even more of a mess than he was when he got here. It was then that he heard a bit of a chuckle come from the boy next to him.

“You say your fine yet you’re in a mental hospital. Nice joke though.” Ouma was ready to say something back but was interrupted by a loud voice that somehow made him feel a tad nostalgic, as if he were a child again.

“Could ya hurry up over there?! I'm fuckin’ starving here!” ah yes, as he started to walk further up in line he remembered flashes of his father, nothing good came from these memories so for his own good he decided to block them out by humming a tune he didn’t know the name of.

Notes:

I hope you like the first chapter even though it was really just me getting that part out of the way. I have never experienced this myself so it was rather hard to write in a perspective as such. Next chapter coming very very soon.
