Chapter Text

Your alarm rang, signaling the time for you to wake up and get ready for your first day at U.A. High. You groaned, rubbing sleep from your eyes, and turned your phone alarm off. You checked your phone for text messages.

Hawks: Good luck at school~

You deadpanned at the timestamp. 2:30 am?!

You: Why did you text me at 2:30, I was asleep

A typing bubble popped up. You sweatdropped, wondering why he was texting you right now.

Hawks: Why not, I had a break in patrol

You: Again, why 2:30 if you wanted to text me, you could’ve waited till now

Hawks: But that’s no fun~

You: -.- Aren’t you on patrol now?

Hawks: Your point iiiiiiiis?

You: GO PATROL

Hawks: But I want to talk to my little sister~

You: You’re not my brother legally or by blood

Hawks: I’m the No. 3 hero I can proclaim to be whoever I want

You: I don’t care, now stop texting

Go patrol

SO I CAN GET READY FOR SCHOOL

Hawks: Okay, bye N/N-channnnn~

You sighed, turning off your phone and getting dressed. You grabbed your bag and stumbled out of your room. Aizawa was surprisingly already awake, and had just finished eating breakfast.

He straightened your tie. “I need to teach you how to wear a tie,” he said. “Didn’t your middle school uniform have one?”

“Kind of, but it was just something I needed to tie in a knot.” Aizawa sighed.

“How irrational. Now go make yourself a breakfast you can take in the car. It’s time to go.”

You made some toast and spread butter on it. Then you and Aizawa got into the car and drove to U.A.

“I need to go make sure I have everything in order, go head to class 1-A. Have some useless chatter or whatever kids do these days.” Aizawa waved a hand at you.

You stuck your tongue out at Aizawa and, finishing off the last bite of toast, you went to class 1-A. You sweatdropped. Tenya and Bakugo were already arguing. Midoriya was standing off to the side, looking unsure what to do.

“Hey Midoriya-kun!” You smiled, going to stand next to him. He smiled shyly at you.

“Hi, Y/N-san. Do you…...think you can stop them?” Midoriya pointed to Bakugo and Tenya.

You nodded with a grin. “Of course! I’ve known Tenya for a long time.” You strolled over to Tenya with a smile. “Tenya! It’s been a while!”

“Y/N-kun! How are you!” Tenya greeted you, making a chopping motion with his hand. You nodded. “I’m great Tenya!”

“OI! DON’T IGNORE ME!” Bakugo yelled. You sighed.

Oh, I know how to make him annoyed more….. “Oh, sorry, Kacchan , what were you saying?” You smirked.

“DIE, RED-EYES!” Explosions started popping on Bakugo’s hands. Before he could attack, you slapped him using your quirk.

Why does everyone use my eyes as an insult?

“Seriously, ‘Red-eyes’? I have a name, Kacchan.” You inspected your nails.

“STOP. CALLING. ME. KACCHAN. IDIOTIC. RED-EYES!” Bakugo was about to attack again, when you heard Aizawa’s voice say, “If you’re here to socialize, get out.”

You looked around to find where he was and sweatdropped when you saw him on the ground in his sleeping bag behind Midoriya and a brown haired girl he was talking with. Did he tell me to go to class just so he could make that entrance?

Everyone went to their desks and sat down. When you were in your seat, you put your headphones on. You’ve heard Aizawa’s speeches before. This was a mistake.

When everyone started filing out to go put on gym uniforms, you stood up to follow. Aizawa plucked off your headphones as you went by him. “Wear these while I’m talking and I’ll snap all your headphones you own in half.” You shivered. “O-okay.”

You walked to the girls’ locker room with all of the other girls. While you were changing, a pink alien-looking girl stared at your face.

“Did you need something?” You asked, slightly annoyed.

“Your face is so pretty! Especially your eyes, they’re red! By the way, I’m Mina Ashido!”

“Th-thanks, I’m Y/N Aizawa.” You said, a little overwhelmed and confused.

She said my eyes are pretty……

         Tenko’s eyes….

         My eyes….

You were snapped out of your daze when you finished getting dressed. A black haired girl with a high ponytail clicked her tongue. “Give Aizawa-san some space. You may admire her eyes from a distance. ” Mina stepped back sheepishly.

“Let me know if you need anything, Aizawa-chan!” She skipped out of the locker room. You and the other girls followed. You walked side by side with the girl who helped you with Mina.

“Thank you for helping me back there.” You smiled at the girl. “What was your name?”

“Momo Yaoyorozu, it was no trouble at all, Aizawa-san.” Momo said politely.

You put a hand on Momo’s shoulder. “Call me Y/N. Anyway, I mean it, Yaoyorozu-san. It’s just…..I’m a little sensitive about my eyes, and I’m not used to having someone liking my eyes so much.”

Only four people I could think of.

           Sensei.

           Tenko.

           Hana.

           And my dad.

Momo was serious now. “Thank you for letting me know. If at any time someone makes you uncomfortable, tell me and I’ll talk to them. And you can call me Momo if you’d like.”

You nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind, Momo-chan.”.

You both reached the field with the other girls and the boys arrived a few seconds after. Aizawa said, “Now, we’re going to have a fitness test using quirks. It’s irrational that schools do not allow you to use quirks during these tests. Bakugo.” The blond looked up-”How far could you throw in middle school?”

           “Sixty-seven meters.” Bakugo replied.

“Now try using your quirk to throw it.” Aizawa handed him a tennis ball. Stretching briefly, Bakugo brought his arm back and when he let go, he let an explosion loose at the same time.

“DIE!” Looking around, you could see your classmates were just as deadpan as you were. ….Die? What did that tennis ball ever do to you?

Aizawa held up a distance counter. “It’s important for us to know our limits, it’s the rational step to figuring out what kind of heroes you’ll be.” You hummed. 705.2 meters….not bad, Bakugo.

“We can use our quirks for real?! Man, the hero course is awesome!”

“Awesome, you say?” Aizawa glared. Here we go again, I hear this almost every year. You crossed your arms.

“You’re hoping to become heroes after three years here…..and you think it’ll be all fun and games? Right. The one with the lowest score across all events will be judged as hopeless and will be expelled.”

“WHAAAAAT?!” Everyone yelled. You merely hummed, thinking: You’re going to have to give it your all, Midoriya. My dad is hard to please.

“Your fates are in our hands. Welcome, this is…..”

“The Hero Course at U.A High!”

“Heroes correct the unfairness in this world. If you were hoping to spend your days here hanging out, then I’m sorry to tell you U.A. will run you through the wringer.” Aizawa ran a hand through his hair.

“That’s Plus Ultra. Use your strength to overcome all obstacles. So bring it.”

Event 1: 50-Meter Dash

Tenya and a girl who looked like a frog, who you heard was named Asui, were up first. Tenya used his engine quirk to finish in 3.04 seconds, while Asui jumped multiple times and finished in 5.58 seconds.

Next up was the brown haired girl named Uraraka and a boy with a tail named Ojiro. Uraraka made her clothes lighter and finished not too long after Ojiro.

Then was Mina, the girl who was in your face earlier, and a boy who seemed to be sparkling constantly, named Aoyama. Right before they started, Aoyama turned around. You looked confused. What’s he doing?

Once the two started, you understood. Aoyama had a laser quirk. The force from his laser propelled him towards the finish line, and he finished in 5.25 seconds.

The last one you paid any specific attention to was Bakugo vs. Midoriya’s. Midoriya ran normally while Bakugo used his explosions to boost himself to the end. You frowned. Just how badly can Midoriya control his quirk? Dad told me about what Midoriya did, but I thought it was just from exerting himself so much during the exam.

It was now your turn. You competed against a bird-looking boy named Fumikage Tokoyami. You took off your jacket, revealing a tank top underneath. You made it float as straight as possible using telekinesis and got on. It just barely held. Once you got the mark to start, you went about halfway on your magic carpet jacket and then fell. Taking a second or two to recover, you finished with your time being 6.06 seconds. A second faster…. You put your jacket back on and waited for the rest of the students to finish.

Event 2: Grip strength

You grabbed a grip strength counter and let it float using telekinesis. You clenched your hand in a fist, putting mental pressure on the counter. It beeped, and letting go of the telekinesis, you grabbed it before it could fall to the ground. You read the number. 150 kg…..I was 60 kg in middle school.

You saw an octopus armed boy named Shoji had a grip strength of 540 kg. You walked over to him and smiled. “Nice!” you said. From behind his mask, he smiled slightly and nodded.

It was now the last event, the ball throw. In your opinion, you had done pretty well so far. You had thrown the ball 2 km, and by now, your drawback was kicking in, so you were floating a little, holding onto Tenya’s arm for support. It was Midoriya’s turn to throw the tennis ball.

Midoriya drew his hand back, his arm starting to spark that signaled the activation of his quirk. You glanced at Aizawa with a frown. It seemed like he activated his erasure quirk. You quickly looked back at Midoriya. The spark disappeared as Midoriya threw the ball. 46 meters….

Midoriya mumbled to himself as Aizawa spoke up, “I erased your quirk. That irrational exam, completely ridiculous that someone like you got in.”

“Those goggles…..erased….of course! He’s the Erasure Hero: Eraserhead.” Chatters started ensuing at the reveal.

“Eraserhead? Never heard of him.” “I think he’s an underground hero.” “Yeah, you don’t hear much about those types.”

The capture cloth wrapped around Midoriya’s torso and pulled him closer to Aizawa. Aizawa said some words to him you couldn’t hear, then he released him, and Midoriya went to the throwing area. “I gave you your quirk back, go ahead.” Aizawa said.

You remembered the conversation you had with Aizawa about Midoriya.

“ How irrational someone like him got in. If he ends up missing his attack, he’s done for. Useless.”

Midoriya drew his arm back, sparking with the use of his quirk.

“It’s not that simple, Dad! Midoriya’s different.”

         “Go, Midoriya….” You whispered.

“Different how?” Aizawa looked at you. “He…..”

Midoriya threw the ball 705.4 meters, only injuring one finger. “Sensei! I can still move!” At the amazed look on Aizawa’s face you grinned. You did it Midoriya!

“He will always find a way to succeed. No matter what anyone else says to him.”

Aizawa then pressed a button to show the students’ scores. You scanned the list for the place you were in. Fourth…..not too shabby. What about Midoriya? You looked for his name. 21st…..According to what Dad-I mean, Aizawa-sensei said, Midoriya’s going to be expelled.

          However, I don’t think that’s the case this time…..

“By the way….I was lying about expelling someone.”

There it is. Everyone around you stared blankly. You were finally on your own two feet and crossed your arms, waiting for Aizawa to continue.

Aizawa grinned scarily. “It was a rational deception , to make you try your hardest.”

Everyone screamed as one. “No waaaaaaaay!”

Aizawa sighed. “Either way, we’re done here. Go back and prepare for your next class. Midoriya. Y/N.” You and Midoriya looked up.

“Go to Recovery Girl’s office to repair his finger.” You and Midoriya nodded, and started walking to Recovery Girl’s office.

Right before you and Midoriya entered the office, you turned to him with a smile. “Nice job, Midoriya-kun.”

Flustered, Midoriya waved his uninjured hand around. “I-it was n-nothing! I-I was l-last place!”

“Not that,” you said. “But you also impressed my dad. Believe it or not, it’s hard to impress him after what you did before the throw.”

Midoriya looked down. “Th-thank you….” You noticed he was blushing and laughed, ruffling his hair.

“Awwww, embarrassed because you got a compliment? How cute!” Midoriya then seemed to realize something.

“Sensei’s your father?” You nodded. “WHAT?”

You laughed sheepishly. “I figured it would’ve been obvious and all, since we both have the same last name and all.”

“But you two don’t look anything alike.”

You put a hand on the back of your neck. “He’s my adoptive father. My parents are dead.” Because of Tenko.

“Oh, sorry, I forgot……” Midoriya fell silent. You waved a hand.

          “It’s fine, it’s fine….”

You and Midoriya walked inside the office. You looked around. “Grandma Chiyo? Midoriya-kun’s here, he broke his finger.”

An office chair slowly turned around, having Recovery Girl on it. “Oh,” she said, “The child who got injured in the exam.” Midoriya sweatdropped and you laughed.

“Anyway, Midoriya-kun, come here.” Midoriya walked over to Recovery Girl. “Now kiss!” Recovery Girl kissed Midoriya’s finger, healing it instantly.

“Woah….it’s all better….but I feel so tired…” Midoriya looked at his finger.

“My quirk boosts your healing factors, but recovery requires stamina. Run out of stamina from getting injured like this, you’ll die.”

“I-I’LL DIE?!” At Midoriya’s exclamation, you grinned.

“Let’s go back to class, Midoriya-kun!” You pulled Midoriya by his arm out of the office.

It was now lunchtime. “Y/N, do you want to sit with us?” Uraraka, Tenya, and Midoriya looked at you.

You shook your head. “Nah, I want to go meet people from other classes. I’ll walk with you guys to the station after school though.”

“Alright.” Tenya nodded and the three of them walked off.

Holding the tray in your hand, you looked around. Man, really didn’t think this through.

“Are you lost?” You turned around.

“Oh, Hitoshi!” Hitoshi Shinso was a classmate of yours back in elementary school. You and him were best friends but went to different middle schools.

He looked surprised to see you. “Y/N…..did your friends leave you or something? I know you obviously already made friends even though it’s the first day, the adorable sweetheart you are .” He smirked at you.

“Shut your mouth, Toshi. For your information, I refused because I wanted to get to know people outside of class 1-A.” You retorted, sticking your tongue out.

Wordlessly, Hitoshi pulled you over to a table with some other students sitting there. He sat down then pulled you down next to him. “These are some people from General Studies like I am. So….get to know us.”

You glared at him. Just had to run into him and have Toshi pull a scheme on me. Then one student at the table spoke up.

“Is that your girlfriend? She’s hero course, right?”

“She’s not my girlfriend, but yes, she’s hero course.” Shinso said boredly, eating his white rice.

Another spoke up, this time a girl with cat ears and a tail. “Why’d you have her sit here, Shinso-kun? Those hero course students are arrogant.”

Annoyed, you responded. “Arrogant? I could say the same about you, for talking about someone who didn’t do anything to you like she isn’t there. I just was hoping to make friends with some of you, but if you don’t want to be friends it’s fine!”

There was an awkward silence, then Shinso started laughing. You pouted. “What?”

“You haven’t changed at all, Y/N. You acted the exact same way when the others were bullying me back in elementary.” Seeing Shinso laughing, the others seemed to relax.

“Sorry for the way we acted earlier,” the girl with the cat ears said. “I’m Kitsune Miyazaki and I’m in the same class as Shinso-kun.”

“And I’m Ren Kurosaki, Kitsu-chan’s boyfriend.” He ruffled his girlfriend’s hair, both of them smiling. “I’m really sorry too.”

Calming down, you nodded at the two. “Thanks, sorry for the outburst. I’m Y/N Aizawa. Me and Toshi were best friends in elementary school. You guys can call me Y/N.”

“And you can call me Kitsune.” Kitsune said with a smile.

You and your General Studies friends ate lunch together, laughing and talking. “You grew a lot taller, Toshi. You used to be shorter than me, but now you’re waaaay taller than I am!” You gestured to Hitoshi’s head. “Or maybe it’s just your hair…..”

“I’m not that much taller than you, I’m 177 cm.”

You finished the rest of your food and started sipping your juice box. “See! Almost a whole 10 cm! I’m 169 cm.”

“Is that supposed to be a bad thing, Y/N-chan? I mean, you’re pretty tall for a girl! I’m 155 cm, and that’s roughly average.” Kitsune smiled.

Ren grinned teasingly. “Maybe she thinks guys won’t like her because she’s too tall.” Needless to say, Ren got a smack upside the head by his girlfriend.

     “Kitsu!” he whined.

Kitsune huffed. “Be more considerate, Ren!” Ren rubbed the back of his head and apologized. You accepted graciously.

Then the bell rang. You got up, still drinking from your juice box. “We'll talk later, yeah?” The other three friends nodded.

You walked back to your classroom, tossing your juicebox in the trash.

The rest of the day passed by normally with nothing out of the ordinary happening. Hero studies was a class taught by All Might that was going to start tomorrow.

You walked to the teacher’s lounge to ask Aizawa if he had to stay late today. You opened the door and walked in.

“Y/N!” Present Mic and Midnight went up to you and gave you hugs. “How was your first day?”

“Fine.” You yawned, closing your eyes, then you opened one. “Where’s my dad?”

“He’s working still. Shota said you can go home by using the station today. You wanted to go with your friends, right?” Mic asked.

You nodded. “Thanks for letting me know. I’ll see you tomorrow?” They nodded.

“Y/N, do you want to shop together at the mall on the weekend?” Midnight asked.

“Sure, mind if I bring a few friends along too?”

“No, go ahead! I’d like to meet Y/N-chan’s friends!” Midnight grinned.

You waved and went out to go find your friends. You found them waiting just outside the gate. “Did I keep you three waiting too long?”

Tenya shook his head. “It’s only been three minutes, Y/N-kun!”

Uraraka smiled. “Yeah, Aizawa-san! It hasn’t been too long!” You scratched the back of your head.

“The whole class can call me Y/N, you know. You all are calling me Aizawa-san, and I feel like I’m my dad.” You laughed. “What’s wrong with Midoriya-kun?”

Said green-haired boy was mumbling something about a ‘Copernican Revolution’.

“He’s allowing Uraraka-kun to call him an insult Bakugo-kun calls him. Deku, he said.”

“Doesn’t that mean ‘you can do it’?”

     “That’s Dekiru, Deku means useless.”

“Oh…” The four of you started walking towards the station.

“So, Y/N-san, you said your dad was a hero?” Uraraka asked. “Is he well known?”

You shook your head. “No, he’s an underground hero. What’d your parents do?”

Uraraka stiffened, almost imperceptibly, but you caught it, wondering why. However, you stayed silent, not wanting to pry. “Th-they own a construction company.”

“What about you, Midoriya-kun?” You said, deciding to move on to another person to spare Uraraka extra discomfort.

“My father works overseas and sends money, and my mother is a nurse.” Midoriya said.

“Cool, Tenya, do you want to tell the others about what your parents and brother do, because I mean, I already know.”

“It’s all right, Y/N-kun!” Tenya made a chopping motion with his hand. “My mother stays at home, and my father used to be a hero! Now he has a job at a regular company! My brother is the hero Ingenium!”

Midoriya suddenly brightens. “No way! What’s he like?” A notebook and pen materialized again. You sweatdropped. Maybe summoning notebooks is actually his quirk….

You and the others listened to Tenya talk about his brother Tensei all the way until your stop. You said goodbye to the others and walked from the station to your apartment.

You walked inside, placing your bag on the couch and sitting next to it. Taking out your phone, you decided to text some of your new friends. You saw something you hadn’t noticed before: 1-A Group Chat.

Hm? Someone made one of these already? Who did, anyways? You scrolled through the list of names.

Bakugo, Kaminari, Jiro, Sero, Midoriya, Tenya…..oh it was Momo. I forgot I gave her my number. Nobody sent any messages in the chat yet, so you decided to be first.

Y/N Aizawa is online

You: Hi!

You walked over to greet your dad at the door. “You’re back! Are you planning on some backbreaking challenge tomorrow or something?”

He waved you off. “You’ll see tomorrow. I ordered Chinese takeout.” You cheered. You hadn’t had Chinese takeout in a while.

When the food came, you ate happily, slurping your noodles and crunching your fortune cookies. When it was all finished, Aizawa said briskly, “Time for 2 hours of training. Go run around the beach for half an hour.”

“Huh?” You deadpanned. “Don’t I do a half hour on school nights?”

Aizawa gave you his weird grin. “Consider it payment for the takeout.” You groaned, but got up, put on your running shoes, and jogged out the door.

When you reached the park, you started running slightly faster on the sandy paths of the beach. The trash was all gone, giving a nice view as you exercised. Once you reached the middle of the beach, you saw some people you knew.

Midoriya and Uncle Yagi! You hid behind a gazebo, listening to their conversation.

The emaciated form of All Might held up a hand to Midoriya. “Great job at school today. I made sure to not tell anyone about our connection. You seem like the type of person to worry about favoritism.”

“Th-thank you.” Midoriya replied. “I-I still don’t have good control over my quirk, though. You’ve done s-so much for me...”

“It’s fine, getting used to One for All is going to take time.” All Might said, making you frown. One for All….where have I heard of that before?

“Just go at your own pace and you’ll become strong soon enough. You got your quirk a month ago after all! Come on, let’s run!” All Might shifted into his muscle form.

        “Wait! All Might….”

        “Hm?”

“Y/N-san…..does she know about One for All? She suspected a connection between you and me because she heard you and Recovery Girl talking.” Midoriya looked worried. All Might shook his head.

“As far as I know, she doesn’t….but if I find out she does, I’ll let you know.” All Might started jogging, Midoriya followed. Once they were out of earshot, you stood up, dusting yourself off.

After training I should go check this ‘One for All’ out. You jogged back home. Aizawa put you through a rigorous one and a half hour of training once you got back since when eavesdropping on All Might and Midoriya, you ran late.

Stumbling into your room, you got into your pajamas and flopped onto bed, exhausted. Just as you were about to close your eyes, you remembered that you wanted to look up One for All. You opened your computer. Where have I heard of One for All?

You typed ‘One for All’ in the search bar, but came up with results like ‘The Three Musketeers’. You scrolled through the results, frustrated.

Then you saw a site called ‘The Legend of All for One’. You froze, hesitating to click on it. I need to know about One for All. Personal things don’t matter right now. You clicked on the website and began to read.

It basically talked about who All for One was, and how he was suspected dead, but a story that was less supported was that All Might had hurt him severely enough for him to go into hiding. It talked about how All for One had taken in a boy named Tomura Shigaraki and raised him.

You allowed a fake amused laugh. How does it have this information, but nothing about One for All? It’s obvious they’re connected somehow. You know, ‘All for One, One for All’. Now that I think about it, I’m not mentioned here either. Strange…..

Deciding you wouldn’t get any more useful information about One for All on your computer, you decided to look for the name in your books. You searched for a while before you came to an old notebook. That’s Grandma’s diary….wait, what was Grandma’s quirk?

You searched up ‘Nana Shimura’s quirk’ on the computer. Float….then suddenly developed a strength quirk as well, like Midoriya…..

Like Midoriya’s quirk! “That’s it!” You whispered. Somehow, Midoriya has the same quirk as Grandma. You opened the diary and skimmed the pages until you came to something that said, ‘One for All’. You read the entry.

March XX, Year 20XX.

I met this interesting young man today. He was quirkless, but seemed kind. I plan on passing my quirk ‘One for All’ to him. I have a feeling he will be a great hero.

One for All. A network that connects many people using a quirk. Starting from the brother of All for One, all the way to me now, and hopefully this young man.

The story of One for All is a long one, but is important. The origin of One for All, where shall I start?

Quirks were just emerging. A man named Shigaraki had a quirk that allowed him to bestow and take quirks. However, he had a younger brother that seemed quirkless that had a strong sense of justice. He disapproved of what his brother was doing.

He tried again and again to stop him, but to no avail. In hopes of getting his brother to join him, Shigaraki gave him a strength enhancement quirk.

It turns out this younger brother of his had a quirk, a quirk to stockpile and pass on quirks when given. Certainly a useless power until the strength enhancement quirk was given.

And thus, One for All was born. The first user managed to escape his older brother and started trying to take him down. Throughout the years, One for All has been passed down to six other users, me being the seventh, also passing down the quirks of the other users, like my Float quirk.

And I hope, this young man, Toshinori Yagi will be able to take down All for One as the eighth user of One for All.

You finished reading the rest of the entry, and sighed. Uncle Yagi was a One for All user…

Both him and Midoriya have some explaining to do.

Notes:

Looks like Y/N found out more about One for All. I think I'll have her confront Midoriya and All Might about it so she'll know everything.

Next chapter isn't going to be a story chapter, it's going to be character profiles for Kitsune and Ren.
