Chapter Text
Over the weekend, Kirishima and Bakugou texted non-stop.
Usually it was Kirishima who started the conversations, but occasionally Bakugou would send pictures of dumb things and point out how they were just like Kirishima.

Dear manly journal,
Today is Sunday!! I’m hanging out with my mom today and then meeting up with Sero later. He’s going to teach me how to skate. SO FUN! I can’t wait to send cool videos of me doing tricks to Bakugou.
--
Sero was really good at skating. Teaching? Not so much.
Kirishima was sure he would be bruised for the rest of eternity.
They collapsed onto a bench, Sero wiping sweat from his forehead and grabbing at a water bottle. “Shit, it 's hot.”
Kirishima nodded, too tired for words as he grabbed at his own water bottle and threw his head back. “Man, you’re a terrible teacher.”
Sero gasped, faking being broken hearted and shoved Kirishima. “Take that back right now! You’re just a terrible student!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about man! I’m the best!”
“You were checking your phone like every two seconds! What happened to bros before hoes?”
“He’s not my hoe!”
“Uhuh,” Sero nodded, looking skeptical.
“Enough about me! A little birdy told me you have the hots for our local half n half pretty boy.”
At this, Sero frowned, running a hand through his hair. “Had, ” he corrected, “ had the hots.”
Kirishima nodded in understanding, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. “Guess we’ll just have to find you someone else, yeah?”
He was met with silence as Sero peered at him. “Yeah.”
“Good,” Kirishima beamed, “because a bro like you only deserves the best!”
Sero laughed, fidgeting with his snake bite a bit. Kirishima took this as a sign to get up from the bench and grab the skateboard Sero had lent him.
“Kiri?” Sero was still sitting.
“Yeah?”
“You also deserve the best, you know that right?”
Kirishima smiled, soft this time. “Yeah man, I know.”
--
Dear Manly Journal,
Sero is really manly.
--
Monday came and went, everything normal. Kirishima went to class, saw his friends at lunch, and went to practice.
Bakugou waited for him to finish practice and they went to eat.
--
One Monday turned into two, then three, then four. And suddenly, Kirishima had a normal routine set up with Bakugou. He would see the blonde Mondays after practice and in AP Art. Kirishima did continue to keep up his journal, using it more now as a diary than anything else.
But they were friends now. Officially. There was no denying it.
But it wasn’t until a month later, five weeks of official friendship, that Bakugou finally let himself be introduced to Kirishima’s friends.
--
“Where is he?” Mina groaned dramatically as she leaned against Kirishima.
“He’ll be here soon, he’s just getting lunch or something,” Kirishima reasoned but he couldn’t help but feel nervous. Bakugou was finally meeting his friends. This was big, huge even.
But before Mina could continue to complain, Kaminari spotted a familiar blonde tuft of hair. “Yo, isn’t that him?”
It was, in fact, Bakugou. Red eyes narrowed and ever-present scowl. He was heading straight for their table.
“Yo! Bakubro! Welcome!” Kirishima beamed as Bakugou all but threw his lunch onto the table and sat beside him, opposite of Sero.
“Fuck you.”
“He’s as much of a delight as I expected!” Sero laughed like it was the funniest thing ever.
Jirou rolled her eyes, “attitude much?”
Kaminari just gave Kirishima a thumbs up.
And when he looked over at Mina, she was smiling softly at him. For a moment, Kirishima was taken away by how much he loved her. In another life, he would think them soulmates.
They smiled at each other for a moment.
“Shitty Hair, I brought you fucking juice. Fucking thank me or whatever the shit.”
Kirishima looked over to Bakugou placing a juice box on his tray as Jirou, Sero, and Kaminari bickered.
“Thanks bro!”
Bakugou rolled his eyes and huffed.
And when Kirishima looked over, Mina looked radiant.
--
That night, Kirishima couldn’t help himself. He reached for himself and typed out a message to his favorite blonde ( sorry Kami! ).
To; Bakugou
soooooooooo arent my friends the manliest awesomest most amazingest people ever?!!?!?!?
From; Bakugou

There was no reply.
--
Soon, Bakugou became an official part of his friend group. He would sit with them during lunch and sometimes even let them join their after-practice meals.
So, naturally, a group chat was formed.
Mina:

Dear Manly Journal,
Today is Friday! I’m so excited for Saturday! We’re going to hangout at my house. I think Bakugou is coming. Should I clean? I should probably clean. I’m going to clean.
--
Saturday came, bringing with it a clear sky and warm weather.
“Your friends are coming over later today, right Kiri?” His mother asked as they sat down for breakfast.
Kirishima hummed, “yup!”
“Just the usual bunch?”
“Yeah. Mina, Sero, Kaminari, Jirou. Well, actually someone new too. You haven’t met him but his name is Bakugou!”
She nodded thoughtfully. “Ah, well, have fun. I’m going to be working today. Don’t do anything stupid. I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” She kissed his forehead as she passed his chair.
Hours of silence passed as Kirishima went through his routine. He even managed to clean up his room and play with Riot for a while.
Finally, there was a doorbell ringing, around 6 pm.
“Coming!” Kirishima called, jogging over to the door and opening it. He was greeted by four smiling faces.
“Yo!”
Mina lunged forward, as did Kaminari, and wrapped Kirishima up in a hug. “Kiri!”
Sero rolled his eyes, “you guys are so dramatic, you saw him yesterday!”
Kirishima laughed, wrapping his arms around his friends. “Where’s Bakugou?”
Mina and Kaminari pulled away and shrugged.
“He’ll probably be here later,” Jirou reassured with a soft smile. “Come on, I wanna kick Kami’s ass at Guitar Hero .”
--
It was much later, around 8 pm, the three of them finishing up their third movie. Bakugou had yet to arrive.
“What do you guys want to watch-”
Sero got up abruptly. “Let’s go star gazing!”
The other four looked at him, eyebrows raised.
Groaning Sero threw his head back, making the neck of his shirt expose his collarbones. Was that another tattoo?
“Come on I’m tired of watching movies. Let’s go to the park and stargaze.”
“I have a better idea,” Kaminari grinned evilly as he stood next to Sero. “Let’s break into the school.”
“Break in?” Jirou asked obviously sceptical.
“Just the football field!” Kaminari defended.
There was a moment where everyone seemed to think about it. Honestly, Kirishima liked the plan. It sounded fun and adventurous and not dangerous.
So, they all agreed. Kirishima let his friends borrow sweaters and jackets as he excused himself to the bathroom.
But instead of actually using the bathroom, he pulled out his phone and sent a quick message.
To; Bakugou
idk if you still want to hangout. but we’re going to be @ the school football field to stargaze
--
When they showed up at the gate of the school, completely ready to jump it if need be, they found a shivering Bakugou standing there instead.
“Took you fucking long enough,” he growled, punching Kirishima in the arm.
“Bakugou!” Mina yelled, lunging to wrap around him. He quickly dodged.
“Hey man! What are you doing here? I didn’t think you’d come!” Kirishima grinned.
“I was already at fucking school in the art room. Lost track of time.”
Kirishima knew that this was Bakugou’s form of an explanation as to why he never showed up at Kirishima’s house. Maybe it was even an apology.
“All good man! Come one, help us into the school then!”
--
The night was chilly, but that didn’t seem to affect his friends as they laughed and danced as if they were drunk, music coming from Sero’s phone.
The stars twinkled above them as Mina and Sero and Kaminari screamed lyrics into the night.
It didn’t feel real. Not as the ground shifted below him as he sat down next to Bakugou. Not when Bakugou was looking like the moon itself, pale and bright.
“Bakugou? Thanks for coming man.”
There was a huff. “Whatever.”
They sat there, watching as Kaminari twirled Jirou around.
“Fuck it.”
Kirishima turned. “What-”
Suddenly there was a hand on his cheek and lips pressed against his.
And he didn’t quite believe it was real. Even as he kissed back. Even as he reached forward and twirled a strand of blonde hair around his finger. Even as cheers sounded behind him.
When they pulled away, Kirishima blinked because maybe if he blinked he could remember if this was real.
Ears burned red, Bakugou turned away, but didn’t move farther away.
“You kissed me.”
All too cocky, especially for how red he was, Bakugou huffed. “Of course I did.”
Jirou whistled at them.
“It’s about time!” Sero called.
“Fucking finally!” Said Mina.
Kaminari offered a thumbs up.
Bakugou held up a middle finger at them.
And Kirishima laughed.
--
Dear Manly Journal,
It’s Saturday, well, technically Sunday since it’s 1 am. But that’s not important because I have important news.
He kissed me.
