Chapter Text
He sits in bed, journal and pen in hand, it's morning already but early enough that the sun hasn't come out yet, he writes with the dim candle light, he's silent, trying to make sense of everything that has happened in just a day.
It has been a week ever since I joined the crew of “The Dionysus” under the captainship of Elihu Cavendish, who has turned into my mentor on the aspects of science, it has also been a week since I've learned about the Secret Society of Oaness, which I've just learned I have to form part of by some strange twist of fate, we are traveling alone, to England, Oxfordshire, it makes his teachings easier to pay attention to. I shall never know how or why has this happen, but despite my doubts on my mentor, I do believe there is some truth on what he says, even if it pains me to admit, in the past days I've learned of things I used to see as nothing but myths and legends, I am now more convinced and eager to discover more, if everything goes according to plan, I will meet more members of the society once we arrived to our destination and I will be formally initiated, I just pray to whatever deity is out there that this is the right choice.
He hears Cavendish speak, yelling from the deck, “Breakfast and chore time, my boy! You don't want to be late!” He puts his journal back among the rest of his belongings and wakes up.
“Coming right away captain!” He walks to the deck to find the captain waiting for him with food ready, bread with cheese and tea, scaring away seagulls that try to take away the food.
”How are you feeling? Ready for another day?”
“Ready for another day, captain.”
They walk fast, he eats while doing so, trying to keep up the pace, “Good, good,” the captain says “How about our lessons? Do you regret anything? Do you still regret joining?” He adds.
“No sir, I regret nothing at all,” he answers him, finishing his meal and drinking the tea in one go.
“Anything you would change?”
Finally something he could answer honestly, even if the words surprised him too, “Nothing sir, nothing at all.”
