Chapter Text
The scent of cookies rose slowly from the oven. Filling the apartment with the warmth of a bakery . Lenas phone layed on the counter contracted to a small Bluetooth speaker that softly played her baking playlist.which was mostly LoFi music and cottage core music to set the mood of warmth she’d dreamed about as a teenager.
Lena drifted around the kitchen setting dirty dishes in the dishwasher and wiping counters humming along to the melody of the music. Basil drifted from a shelf curving with the wall. A beeping sound rang from the oven.
She grinned and made her way over to the oven grabbing the oven mits from the handle of the oven she pulled out the fresh cookies. Slowly she set them down. She felt a small piece hot metal graze her unprotected wrist and cursed.
Making her way to the sink she assessed the damage. It was a small burn barely 1st degree. Memories of worse injury’s flashed through her mind as the cool water flowed onto the burn.
It was funny Lena, the great soccerus sabrewing. Once declared the queen of magic. A title she’d politely declined. Had simply burned her wrist making cookies for her friends. No great battle no magical curse. just a person making cookies. It was...all so...normal. She liked normal. 15 years of an unconventional life tends to make one appreciate momments of mundanity. Or
that’s what her therapist said.
Then it hit her. This...this was her life. Not some fantasy dreamed up by a lonely teenage version of herself.this was real. Lena had made it. She’d survived hell and back. This was after happily ever after. She did it. Letting out a laugh she pressed her un burnt hand to her face feeling the tears drifting from her eyes.
She was okay. For real. She still struggled but she made it.
