Chapter Text
When Remus and Declan joined everyone downstairs, Virgil noticed Remus's lips were swollen, and he had to assume it was from kissing, based on how he seemed to blush whenever he'd look at Declan.
Roman caught Virgil's eye and gave him a knowing wink, and Virgil couldn't help but be happy for his two oldest friends. They'd always been so compatible, and Virgil had thought there might be stronger feelings, but seeing how easy it was for Declan to be himself around Remus, or how Remus fussed over him, it made Virgil realize they were absolutely perfect for one another, and he knew that so long as Remus and Declan were happy, he was, too.
With no more distractions, everyone dove into the project, which consisted of learning about a Spanish speaking country and creating a presentation for it, as well as providing plenty of trivia and fun facts, which Logan was all too happy to get to work on. Six hours later, the project was complete, dinner had been made and eaten, and everyone had piled into the home theater room, Sleeping Beauty put in for everyone to watch.
Virgil ended up with the last option so far as seating since Remus had thrown himself into Declan’s lap on the couch, and Logan and Patton were sharing a loveseat, so that left the enormous bean bag chair for Roman and Virgil to sit in. Roman awkwardly took one side while Virgil took the other, but somehow, no matter what both boys tried to do, they ended up sinking into the middle, awkwardly lying against each other.
Of course, it didn't take long for Roman to casually toss his arm around Virgil's shoulders, and Virgil flushed slightly red. He should have expected Roman to be comfortable around him, right? Roman thought he was a girl, and because of that, the discomfort he might feel when it came to cuddling with a guy wouldn't be there.
"You know," Roman began, "Aurora should have been the one to slay Maleficent. She's a strong, badass woman, isn't she? Granted, Phillip is cute, but wouldn't it have been so much cooler if Phillip had woken Aurora only for Aurora to immediately take up a sword and shield?"
"Maleficent didn't deserve to be slain ." Virgil objected, “But, granted that women are capable of defending themselves, I don’t see why that couldn’t be the case.”
“Oh, I know girls can kick ass, especially you. I’m pretty sure that you scared the shit out of Taylor when you threatened to beat him up.” Roman chuckled.
Virgil tried not to wince at being called a girl, shrugging one shoulder, “He was being a jerk, and I don’t like how gross he was being.”
“You’re tough, and you stood up for yourself. If he starts issues again, I’ll talk to him.” Roman promised, “Your comfort is important, and he shouldn’t get to make you feel uncomfortable.”
Virgil knew his cheeks had gone pink, but he ignored it, staring straight ahead at the movie, “Thank you. I appreciate it.”
As Phillip began to battle Maleficent, Virgil felt his eyes slipping shut, and he jerked slightly as he jolted himself awake, rubbing his eyes in an attempt to fight his sleepiness off.
“Tired?” Roman asked softly.
Virgil made a face and nodded, “Yeah, I might need to run and grab some water or something.”
“It’s fine.” Roman chuckled, “Go ahead and sleep. I’ll wake you up once we wrap up with the movies.”
Virgil blinked several times, and he found himself confused, “Right here?”
“Yeah, why not?” Roman asked.
Virgil was going to object, going to say no, but he was hit by another wave of sleepiness, and he finally gave up and rested his head on Roman’s chest with a quiet yawn, “Thanks.”
Virgil was out like a light within moments, as he was enveloped by Roman’s warm embrace, and he found himself falling asleep peacefully to the sound of the music that played as Prince Phillip kissed and woke Aurora.
Roman swallowed hard as he looked down at Alana. She had fallen asleep with her head on his chest, and in her sleep, she’d curled up closer to him and slung her arm over his middle. She looked a lot less tense when she was asleep, and when relaxed the way she was, she looked a lot more approachable, less defensive, and Roman couldn’t help but flush pink as she nuzzled against his chest.
Hell, she’s cute.
Roman immediately snapped out of it. No, he wouldn’t develop feelings for Alana. On top of her being best friends with his brother, she was a girl . Roman had known he was gay since he was a child, and he wasn’t going to have an identity crisis.
That was a lot easier said than done when Alana began to speak in her sleep,
“Mm… Roman…” She slurred, and after a few seconds of silence, she spoke again, “Smell good…”
Roman would have laughed if he hadn’t gone completely red. He looked up and met Remus’s eyes, and had he not had Alana fast asleep on top of him, he’d have jumped up and smacked the smug grin off his brother’s face. Remus seemed to read Roman’s mind, and puckered his lips mockingly. Roman fished for a pillow and hurled it at Remus with such force that Remus yelped and fell back against Declan.
“Ro?” Patton asked as he sat up, cocking his head to the side, “Something wrong?”
Roman molded his face into the picture of innocence, “Remus was falling asleep. Didn’t want his boyfriend holding a dead weight. He’s got a bad habit of drooling.”
Declan snorted at the offended look on Remus’s face, kissing Remus on the cheek once, “He’s right, you know.”
Remus glared at Declan, “You’re supposed to take my side!”
“Just cause you two swapped spit doesn’t mean he has to agree with you.” Roman taunted.
Declan choked audibly, and Remus immediately knew the perfect way to get his friend back. He firmly grabbed Declan’s face and dipped down, kissing him hard before shoving his tongue into Declan’s mouth. Remus ignored the noises of disgust from Roman and Logan, and the soft giggling from Patton, and continued his assault on Declan’s mouth. Just as Declan seemed to be getting into it, Remus pulled back with a smirk, wiping a bit of saliva from Declan’s lower lip.
“Next time, you’ll take my side.” Remus cooed before he got up to swap out the movie.
“... What just happened?” Declan asked dumbly.
“That’s the first of many times my brother is going to fuck with you.” Roman cackled, “Welcome to the family.”
Patton shushed Roman, “Shh! You’re going to wake Alana. Poor dear looks exhausted.”
Logan gave something akin to a smile as he saw Remus put in Big Hero 6, and once Remus had started the movie, he dashed back to Declan and threw himself into his best friend’s lap.
“You’re such a brat.” Declan murmured as he wrapped both arms around Remus, kissing Remus’s clothed shoulder once.
“I know.” Remus said proudly, “Now watch the movie, ya bastard.”
Everyone fell back into silence, and Roman would have watched the move, but Alana was so close and so warm, and he found himself looking down at her, even when he tried to watch the movie. At some point, her grip tightened on him, and she shoved her face further against Roman’s chest, and he knew he was done for.
“Fuck. I think I’m bi.” Roman breathed.
