“Lena please take off your shoes first!”
“Okay papa okayyy!” She whined a little to escape his father’s grip.
Carlos let go off little girl’s hand as she wanted to run away to her cousins with a rush, other kids cheered when they saw her.
“I will catch her sometime before she steps everywhere with her shoes, let her enjoy now.” Gabriel held his arms open and demanded his youngest grandchild from TK’s arms so he let him go easily.
“Now come on here my baby, how is my beautiful son, how is he?” Gabriel placed the little boy between his arms, rocking a little and tickling him to gain some chuckles from him.
It was so funny to Carlos to see a grown man in his age get so cheerful this easily that he smiled sheepishly, not being able to say anything but watching his son and his father giggle and hug each other.
Lucas was almost 1 now, he easily recognised his abuelo and abuela and actually he never wanted to come back to his fathers when he was with them. He preferred his grandparents but after considering all the spoiling, it would be weird if he didn’t.
After TK and Carlos decided they wanted another baby after adopting Lena, it took them almost a year to deal all the surrogacy finding and completing the documents and everything. It was a hard work but they really wanted to do this, another baby before they were too old for this and before Lena was young enough to bound with her new sibling. So after a hard year, holding their son in their arms was everything they wanted and also they couldn’t even imagine. The moment they saw their baby, all the memories of seeing their daughter for the firt time came crushing down to them. A feeling of being so in love that they didn’t care for themselves anymore, no humanly words were enough to explain the feeling.
Carlos searched his surroundings to spot their daughter as he took his shoes off, he saw her talking to the kids in Spanish and thankfully others were bigger now that there was a basic hierarchy between all of them. Youngers were learning everything they know from olders so except some little fights, adults almost didn’t need to interfere with their loud games and all the chaos.
Lena was 2 when she first attended one of their family meetings, almost 1 week after she got adopted by his fathers. She had a sad background, lost his parents to a car accident and ended up in foster care, but thanks to the stars, their ways met and TK and Carlos fell in love with her the first time they saw her, not even having a doubt about fostering her. After almost 6 months, it all turned out great and they finalised the process, adopting her and adding her to their little family.
She was silent at first, it took her some time to get used to TK and Carlos, and then 126, so they took their time with meeting her with whole Reyes family. Of course she met to Andrea and Gabriel, and then Carlos’ sisters and their kids but a family meeting which included at least 30 people needed to wait a little. When they finally adopted her, they took her into one of the meetings and then everything inverted. She felt comfortable around her grandparents and aunts already but meeting the other kids made her a whole different kid. Carlos and TK realised she was a small but fierce, confident little girl. That day, they knew she would be fine with them, just fine...
Andrea catching her before she could run away made Carlos come back to the reality, all the giggles coming out of her was a view he wished he could save in his brain and repeatedly watch every second of his life. The love he felt for his family made his heart swallow, in the best way possible that he could easily pass as lovestruck.
TK appeared next to him, leaning onto his husband as he joined watching their daughter in awe. Carlos wrapped an arm around his waist and placed a kiss on his temple.
“What was this for?” TK smiled softly, even clinging more to Carlos.
“Do I need a reason to kiss my husband?” Carlos pretended to be shocked.
“No of course not... What are you thinking?” He asked with a curious tone.
Carlos took his time, everything he is living felt like a full circle moment for a second “I am thinking... we make a pretty good family.”
TK closed his eyes, then breathed out a small chuckle “We really do don’t we?”
“Afraid so...”
