Chapter Text
Snipe was walking down the hallways after finishing his last class for the day. "I wonder why is it that the ones who don' pass the hero exam seem resigned and they've done given up on bein' a hero furever," he pondered. Like, seriously, it isn't like they don't get a second chance to join the hero course students if they wow the teachers with their creative quirk usage during the Sports Festival, right? Oh wait, they DO get tha opportunity! There's literally no reason for them to be giving up. Anyway, he should start focusing before he walks into something... that something being a livin' breathin' Aizawa Shouta inchworm in his natural habitat.
He chuckles to himself. Don' get him wrong, the man was terrifin' when he wanted to be but when you saw som'one inchin' their way across the floor in a sleeping bag, you can' help but wonda if 'is students would still take 'im seriously. If they knew his expulsion record, he don't doubt it one bit. but then you found out his reason for expellin' the little rascals he dubbed, "problem children" and he was a big softy.
He steps aroun the man and keeps walkin' to the teachers lounge. No need to disturb what need not be disturbed. He opens the door and when it closes with a click he surveys the room. Always a gud idea to get a gud scope on the sitchuation.
Unsuprisin'ly many of the staff are relaxin' in the lounge. Slightly suprisin' is the addition of Nedzu, the demon in rat's clothing 'imself. He was discussing somein' with Mic. Mic who was distinc'ly not fearing for 'is life. "Well I be damned" he muttered under his breath. He walked over to his desk and couldn't help but overhear the topic of conversation.
"Hmm it seems I will have to talk to Aizawa about what he saw of Green. He seems to have interacted with Green more than most."
He could'a sworn Nedzu would'a neva picked up this case. Considerin' not'in really happened other than a couple offended heroes, and a bunch of free art that many heroes considered a highlight of the month or year or whenever they got one. He himself always was astounded by the detail in every piece he's seen. It neva really struck him as something that would catch Nedzu's eye.
Snipe tried to focus. Rully, 'e did, but that conversayshun was too damn int'restin' to ignore. So, 'e did what any other hero would do; 'e got an assignment and a pen, and preetended to grade while he began list'nin' in on it. "Well, maybe he's just interested in how the little listener keeps falling through the heroes' fingers, like slime," Hizashi muttered. Snipe coulda sworn 'e heard a contemplative "hmm" from Nedzu, but before 'e could make any sense of it, 'e got interrupted by the door slammin' open. 'E glanced at tha door, and saw Aizawa, sleepin' bag in hand.
Aizawa either had impeccable timin' or the werst timin' in the world dependin' on yer perspective. Fer Nedzu it was perfect timin' for 'im it couldn'ta been werst.
The man didn't even say a word as 'e made to get a mug o' coffee. Nedzu the rat just smiled as he watched the tired man, conversation fergotten. He was mildly angry with Aizawa for interruptin' Nedzu when he was going to start spillun' theories like 'e always did when he was excited.
He wanted in on this Green bidness.
'E just sat there in that posture fer a bit before standin' up and stretchin'. "You know, Snipe, you could've just asked about Green instead of eavesdropping," Nedzu piped up. Snipe done frozed up, terrified of tha principal.
"neva could get anything past ya." Snipe says pausing a moment before he adds "Yeah, alrigh'. I'll bite; what is the word on Green?" He leans back in his chair, Nedzu 'as 'is full attention.
"well, I received news about both the convention mass art drop off and the art delivery made to hawks early this morning." really Nedzu got word from hawks this morning about this? "apparently Hawks had a short conversation with Green, not recognizing him until after our vigilante and art friend disappeared."
"well I'll be damned, Hawks didn't recognize the rascal?"
"not in that moment no."
Snipe had to take a momen' to appreciate that. Hawks the fast and quickly rising hero with trainin' beyond most didn' recognize a vigilante who is not really in the shadows.
"sooo? when you catch 'im what do you intend to do?"
"whatever do you mean Snipe?"
"well, we all know you Nedzu. you don't usually take interest in vigilantes and when you do, ya don't do what you are expected to do? I mean none o' us furgot our dear friend runner from a few years ago."
"i guess you are right Snipe I do intend to pick green's brain, he is quite the fascinating find. and if I can convince him to work with or under me I would gladly take him on as an intern."
Well tha'd be bad news. Snipe was almos' able to hear the sounds of cracklin' and evil laught'r ringin' through the halls. The gun slingin' hero shivered; in the last memo of when Nezu took Runner in and taught'im how'to make anti-gravity technology.
It was hell on earth.
And he was not lookin' forward to anotha' incident. Not one bit.
although... if Nedzu, could take green unda his wing, what was stopping 'im from doin' the same. now there was an idea. He wasn' sur on the correlation between the fine precision of art to the precision of shooting but if it transferred at all green would be a devil with a gun. he smiled at the thought.
"oh?" Nedzu asked, "is that your plan. I see it would be interesting to see what green is capable of." Snipe knew that Nedzu was just incredibly gifted at readin' a person but it still terrified him a little when Nedzu seemed to read his mind."
"So I guess I'll make it official and say that I wan' to teach green to shoot and take 'im on as my intern."
Nedzu grined a feral toothy grin that made him more determined to win. he didn't challenge the rodent of'en, he woulda said neva before today, but he didn' intend to back down. "then I guess it's a race to figure out who green is and convince him to learn from us."
Aizawa sighed in the most tired exasperated voice Snipe had ever done heard from the man. "You think I haven't been trying to do just that? the Problem child slips away before I can get a word in edgewise. it's infuriating."
"Shou, is this why you've been staying out later at night?" and when the man in question don't answer Snipe can only assume that the answer is yes.
"What else am I suppose to do." de demon teacher of 1A says. "He's clearly a kid. He's going to get himself killed."
"careful there Aizawa your concern is showing." Aizawa just star'ed glarin' at Midnight as she smiled a devilish grin.
"Oh enough Midnight, I'm just being practical. If he dies it means an uproar in the press and hero worlds. It also means a number of things could happen all of which I'd like to avoid."
"Sure thing Dadzawa. You're just concerned about the amount of upstir his death will cause, nothing to do with your paternal instincts to protect lost kittens and kids." Aizawa looked just about as done as a man could get and boy was it a sight to see.
"don't we all have classes we need to get to?" Aizawa asks, his eyes a'glowing in that manner that he uses to make threats, though this time it fell short due to the conversation prior.
"That they do Aizawa and I assume your desire for promptness has nothing to do with you denying and avoiding the accusations being thrown at you." Nedzu says a smirk on his face that says he knows and is messin' with Aizawa just like the rest of them 'ave done.
Aizawa don't say a word as he leaves refusin' to even acknowledge the accusation.
Snipe smirked under 'is mask and stood up, puttin' 'is students' assignments unda 'is arm and gettin' up. 'E walked out of tha staff room with a newfound purpose. He was gonna find Green.
